I’m ashamed to be a Wolves supporter right now. Idiots bombarded Notts County fans’ coaches with bricks following the League Cup match last night.

Last week I argued that we were an honest team on the pitch and it was a view echoed by most fans and managers around the country in the media. Then we won plaudits at the weekend for the quality of our football against Spurs.

Finally, we came through a disappointing performance last night to book our place in the last 16 of the cup. All that and our own fans bring disgrace on the club in one act of stupidity.

Lee Hughes is a man with a very questionable past. He had the world at his feet but threw it all away, causing untold pain to a family and wrecking his career in the process. Last night he taunted Wolves fans with his T-shirt, scrawled with the words ‘Boing Boing’.

Let me put on the record that without Hughes' dim-witted action, I don’t think the shameful events that followed outside the ground would have happened.

As far as I’m concerned, Hughes should every day be thankful that he earns a living in an industry so grimy, money-driven and shameless that he could find work so easily on his release from prison.

If it was most of us, every time we laced up our boots and stepped on to a pitch to play professional football we would do it with deference to the people who gave us a second chance.
Perhaps asking that he finds some humility is too much to ask but it shouldn’t be unreasonable to ask for respect. Not only does Hughes show none of it, he outright goads us.

Of course he was verbally abused on the pitch, but only marginally more than Ashley Cole is every week around the country, and that’s because it’s the only way we can show him what a miserable human being we think he is.

Hughes might have been the catalyst for the behavior of some of the home fans outside of Molineux, but he wasn’t to blame. Those responsible were the ones with bricks in their hands and nobody else.

If those people can’t show an ounce of self-restraint or respect, how can we ask anything else from Hughes?

It is Lee Hughes' fault that the Wolves thugs attack Notts County fans and injure an old lady - talk about shameful deflection of blame. Lee Hughes does not dserve respect and I do not condone his short - but give me a break on the deflection. Dirty Team on the pitch - Dirty Fans off it. Shame on you .

why are you ashamed to be a wolves fan - were you one of those that attacked the coaches- of course not! neither was I and those morons are NOT Wolves fans they are thug out to cause trouble, if it had not been the coaches it would have most likely been somebody mugged or beat up in the town either that or they would have found something else to smash up.
I have never been ashamed to be a wolves supporter and thesse thugs are not going to change that - if you think like that then they have won.

I don't agree that it would not have happened if moron hughes had not done what he did,we will never know, but those idiots were out for trouble, they will most likely be involved in some way on Sunday, walk round wolvo on most match day's and you will see groups of them without colors creeping around looking for away fans - they even arrange to meet up! what a bunch of morons? bring back national service and give them something better to do with their lives.
Ah well at least we have the majority of real fans eh who only want to support the club - alas I don't think we will ever get rid of them?

It's disheartening that the actions of a few fans can reflect so poorly on the majority. Perhaps it would be good to reflect that British fans in general are viewed with mockery throughout the football playing world for their hooliganism in the past.
Is that fair? Of course not.
I, for one, refuse to be numbered among and embarrassed over the actions of a few idiots.
However, we should note that level headedness and decorum around the world in general are fading as general principles. It is truly sad that poor behavior is considered more acceptable. We give people far too many excuses that allows them to behave poorly.
We can only hope that the club does it's best to try to dientify the responsbile parties and ban them from Molineaux in the future.
As far as Lee Hughes goes, Notts County would be wise to suspend him. He brought shame upon his team with his actions. Obviously, he has not learned much in life's lessons as of yet.
Now, let's see a post about the games!!!
