George Elokobi has been getting a rough ride from Wolves fans in recent weeks. I agree that sometimes he has been frustrating with his passing but the big left-back was the star of the show in the 0-0 draw at Fulham.
If there was an award for tackle-of-the season, he would surely have it in the bag.
George robbed Duff of the ball inside the area, preventing a one-on-one with the keeper and an almost certain goal – probably the winner.
Fans who have doubted Elokobi should remember his history. We signed him from Colchester for peanuts, he picked up an injury that put him out for almost a year and then suddenly he has to slot in to a defence in the Premier League.
Surprise, surprise - he needed some time to settle. Did the idiot fans booing him think it would help? It is a credit to him that he has got in to his stride so fast.
George’s tackle was one of many highlights for the Wolves defence at Craven Cottage where the home side are formidable. Yes we need to score goals urgently, but clean sheets are giving us weekly steps towards survival. If we stay up then a resolute defence is something we can build on by bringing in more attacking quality.
Elokobi was the hero on Saturday but the back four have been outstanding almost all season.
Look at the teams who have failed to beat us – Villa, Everton, Fulham, Stoke, Tottenham – all established Premier League sides and many of them high scorers too.
So let’s get another clean sheet against Blackburn lads, and a goal to go with it. Depending on that result and Hull’s match against Villa this week, we could be safe by this time next week.

I certainly prefer Elokobi, Craddock, Berra and Zubar along the back. Despite what Mick has commented publically about Ward, he has been substandard and not worthy of a first team spot.
It certainly seems like Wolves are safe now that Hull City has fallen at home to Aston Villa.
The question now becomes what do Wolves need to do to stay in the Premier League next year mid-table a opposed to struggling with relegation all year.
To me, the high points of the season have bee Jarvis and Doyle. They form a nice dual who put pressure on opponents. Having said that, that's all we have shown up front.
While Mick is a big supprter of Henry, I think he is a very servicable player, but is overly cautious and too quick to retreat the ball, lacks pace and guile. In order for Wolves to really improve next year, I think a solid contributor in central midfield and another solid center back need to be added.
Craddock has had a great job for Wolves this year, but needs to be rested more.

For the life of me, I can't understand how a Wolves fan could be negative over this season. Does anyone remember our last trip to the Premier League? We were ran out!
Mick McCarthy has done a masterful job keeping the lads playing a style of football that can keep us in games and with an attack or two at the right time, or a defensive mistake, get us a win.
Great coaching!
The team plays with great enthusiam and pride. There are no superstars on the squad and the talent level is low overall compared to the league's mid-table.
To do a double vs Spurs is unquestionably fantastic! They are a European calibre squad!
Congratulations to the team and the entire coaching staff and organization. I know that Wolves fans like to reminisce about the glory days, but our best hope these days is to develop into a solid mid-table squad, and even that, is a stretch to hope for.
The fans should be 100% behind a team that WON the Championship and now looks to have survived in the Premier league!
