Pace, energy, hustle, tactics, finishing . . . Wigan 0 - Wolves 1

We can play at this level alright. Bring on Mercenary City!

Great result against a team that looked so good on the opening day, but which we made look ordinary last night.
Delighted for Keogh - he's got to be the hardest working and fittest player in the squad.
I feared for him in this division because of his perceived lack of goals.
But Mick knows that he contributes a great deal even when he doesn't hit the net.
He was a standout player against West Ham and was exellent last night.
The idiots who jeered him last season should hang their heads in shame.

Mick got the tactics spot on. We're short on numbers yes but he still could have gone with 4-4-2 as Vokes was on the bench.
Instead he used a five man midfield, bringing on another tireless runner in Dave Edwards, and stifled Wigan.
Martinez didn't have an answer because he likes to play attractive football. Our midfield just shut that possibility down.

I still think Ward has still got some way to go in terms of defensive awareness. But to give him credit, he put in some brillaint full-bloodied tackles and showed great bravery in 50-50 balls. He gets forward really well and combined with Jarvis, there is real pace down that left side.

Man city next and we'll need to put the spoilers on the creative players again.
It's a tough ask but that performance last night showed that we're not here to make up the numbers, we can really play at this level.

I was so apprehensive about the outcome of the Wigan game, I put off looking at the result till Wednesday noon! What a win!!!It's early days yet but I think we woke a few people up with that result. Money can buy players but it doesn't buy pride and loyalty so, - come on Man City, square-off to the Pride of the Midlands.

Very pleased with that effort! Yes! Can we hang with Man City? What a win that would be! And hey Trevor, love that loyalty!

I'm so excited after the Wigan result! Getting an away victory like that has to raise the confidence of our lads headed into Man City. We can hang with them. We are Premier League!

I might be the only native American that has only lived here who is a Wolves fan, too.

This is my first year following the the premier league. I have never followed soccer in my life. I've watched the world cup, USA vs various teams but that's about it. Soccer is not very big in the states but it is coming around.

I have chosen the Wolves as my team. Maybe they can relive 1960 with me on their side. I like the under dogs.
