Milijas, Hahnemann, Doyle, Surman . . . next? Sources say it's Greg Halford for £2 million. The capture of the Sunderland defender, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, will take summer spending at Molineux to more than £12 million.

That figure alone is a real statement of intent from the three Ms - McCarthy, Morgan and Moxey - and expect some more to come through the door in the coming weeks.

Halford would provide competition for last season's Player of the Year Kevin Foley. He can also cover at centre half and offer a threat with his head in dead ball situations.
