It's only beginning to sink in for me ! What an amazing, heart trembling, nerve finishing set of events. At the end of it all, we're still standing. Who'd have thought that back in December !?
I've criticised him in the past, I think we've all grumbled from time to time but I think the last six weeks has taught me to really trust Roberto Martinez. When it really mattered he installed a tenacity and a 'never-say-die' spirit in the team. It took time for this to spirit to foster itself in the camp but it was there for all to see in the last three games. Would we have come back from 2-0 down to West Ham earlier on in the season ? I'm not so sure.
Whats more, we stayed up by playing football the way it should be played. If I had a penny for every time I heard that Blackpool were a 'breath of fresh air' this season then I'd need a considerably larger wallet. However, no one ever seems to mention Wigan or the way we play football. Wasn't it Martinez that was one of the influences on Ian Holloway's attack minded system ?
So we're in the Premier League for another season ! It feels so good to say that. If you think about some of all the trials and tribulations we've been through this time round I think it's nothing short of a miracle we stayed up. I just wish people would give us some more credit sometimes. In geographic terms, we're the smallest club ever to play in the Premier League. I often think that people forget that.
I'm not really looking ahead yet to next season. I don't know about you but I'm still trying to recover from this one. If I have one wish though, it would be that if we're going to spend in the summer, I hope it's for a player that's worth it. I don't think we'd want another six million pound Mauro Boselli.
Thanks for reading. My next blog will discuss where we should go from here after our gallant last day survival.

Hey Paul,
Great insight. That last day was incredible. Like you say I still can't believe it. I'm looking forward to your take over the summer to see what we have done, and what we can do. Keeping Martinez at the helm is a great start, and losing N'Zogbia will really hurt. Anyways mate, that's all I've got for now, but I look forward to transfer talk (as long as it isn't all out of Wigan).
Cheers
