I thought the defeat to Bolton which knocked us out of the FA cup was hard to take, especially after our recent home form has been so good, but at least we can fully concentrate on the league now. Something that Birmingham, Villa and Everton can't say.
The relegation fight seems to be getting more intriguing with every week that passes with some new team getting dragged into the mire. Everton recently seem to be sinking like a stone.
I guess it's good for us that all of these teams are involved in the struggle to stay up. Hopefully it means we have more of a chance staying up. We're still picking up points and our draw at Anfield to a rejuvenated Liverpool side shows that hopefully we must be doing something right.
We face the two Manchester clubs next with United up first on Saturday. It's sure to prove an extreme test of our fighting credentials. I'm not reading too much into the fact that Manchester United only barely managed to scrape past non-league Crawley in the FA cup on Saturday, after all, I think about 75% of that team won't be facing us. Hopefully we can give United a game. We were really unlucky at the match at Old Trafford with some really ridiculous refereeing decisions (even for a match at Old Trafford !) costing us a result after a decent start. Hopefully this is at the back of the lads minds and will spur them on come Saturday.
After the United and City matches are out the way we play Birmingham at home. That's a relegation six-pointer if ever I saw one. Bearing in mind that Brum will probably have a game in hand over us due to their Carling Cup final commitments it's vitally important that we win that match. I'm not talking a draw, we simply have to win.
It will be an interesting and nerve wracking few weeks that's for sure.

Perhaps it is being a tad too optimistic, but maybe the Latics are due for another spoiler match this weekend. If the Wolves can dump the oh-so-holy United on their ground, perhaps Wigan can finally get its breakthrough win.
The United can be beaten, it just has not happened too much as of late.....

After watching the Wigan vs. United game, I wanted to share some thoughts. First, I hope Wigan gets relegated. I have seen teams in America who kick the other team less. Second, if the players actually tried to pass, maintain possession, and score, I think your team could do quite well in the Football League! Good luck next season.

Roberto Martinez and his disgruntled wigan atletic squad should get the hell out of the premier league and stay, not even in the championship, but in league one since they are not ready to compete. the defence looking like a public toilet where anyone enters. its such a disgrace to the manager and the entire team.these are not professionals. my two year old nice can play against wigan athletic and thrash them 9-0. when other teams down the table have started winning games, what are the latics doing? they dish out points with reckless abandon.even santa would not give gifts the way wigan have been giving points. im way too bitter, infact words cant describe how i feel about these boys playing street football.
