So...Liverpool on Monday night. I hope I don't sound too negative but I'm really not looking forward to this one. Liverpool seem to be slowly but surely easing themselves into the form that we all knew they were capable of, while we seem to be embroiled deep into a relegation battle. If we lose on Monday it'll be our third loss in the last three games. I know I asked for some consistency earlier on this season but this isn't exactly what I had in mind......
Last season is starting to seem a lot longer then just a year ago. We were in the running for a European spot right up until May and looked strong in every department. If you had told me we'd be in a relegation scrap this year I'd have said it would be unthinkable....now that just sounds like Chris Eubank trying to describe the Titanic.
Make no mistake, we're in a deep relegation dogfight right now and I'm not sure we're capable of fighting to get out of this one. Martinez seems to be either incapable or unwilling to go for a plan B when things aren't going our way.
I've said before in previous columns, I admire Martinez for the style of football he wants to play. In fact I think the game in general would be a lot better for it if other managers were so devoted to the one touch passing play as he is. However, unfortunately it's the real world we live in and sometimes you simply have to scrap to survive. I don't know how other fans feel but I'd much rather be in the Premier League playing boring football then being the most entertaining team in the Championship.
Something has to change soon if we're going to be in this league come August, because right now Martinez's style of playing is not working. Worryingly we're simply not creating enough chances and our defence cannot be relied upon to hold out for clean sheets. It's relegation form, pure and simple.
We've got games against Bolton and Burnley to come in March. This could be a huge month for us.
I'd be interested to know what other fans think ? Do you think we're good enough to get out of this one ? Is your paitence starting to wear thin with Martinez ? Post a comment below and let me know.

I'm sorry, but I'd rather be the most entertaining team in the Conference than playing dull, boring, negative non-football in the Premier League.
What is this Plan B that I keep hearing about anyway, it's seems like it's a veiled way of saying we should just defend with eight men and play long balls up to try and win free kicks. Give me Bobby over Big Sam anyday.
