With the dust finally settling on the Steve Bruce era at Wigan it’s time to stop reminiscing and look to the future !

It’s a case of out with the old and in with the new at the JJB Stadium. Wigan have probably the most talented lower league manager on board in Roberto Martinez which is a really positive appointment. Hopefully he is going to set about buying players which are today unknown but by January will be coveted by the likes of Manchester United !

To set the foundations for next season we’re going to have to hang onto the likes of Cattermole and Bramble (Never thought anyone would write that but he had an amazing season last season !) and add to our squad. So what do we need ? Well seeing as how there surely must be some transfer funds available after the big sales of Palacios and Valencia we can certainly look at a few options. We could definitely do with some more firepower up front, especially as it looks like Zaki wont be coming back next season (He wont be missed at Wigan if the rumours about his attitude are true) Hopefully the transfer gossip about Jason Scotland joining proves to be correct. He might be getting on a bit but I reckon he could do a job in the premiership – especially for a manager who knows how to get the best out of him. The lack of width after the sale of Valencia (Who will be sorely missed) is also going to need to be addressed...but with who ?

It’s going to be a fascinating summer at the JJB ...a new manager, cash to spend...who knows what could happen ?
