Spurs moved up to third in the Premier League with a point from the game against Bolton at the Reebok Stadium. This is a ground where Spurs have never won and, in truth, a draw was about as much as could be hoped for on Saturday’s display. Bolton dominated the first half and Spurs were fortunate to go in at the break on level terms. The second half was better but if Spurs hope to maintain a place in the top six - never mind the top four - then this is the kind of fixture where anything less than a win must be regarded as a disappointment.

After the game, the perennially under-fire Gary Megson talked up the performance and his players. Certainly Cohen and Lee impressed in midfield, but Bolton are, at best, a workmanlike side. They may have enjoyed two recent away wins but those victories were at Portsmouth and Birmingham. Until the visit of Spurs, they had also taken just a single point at home. Yet in the first 45 minutes Spurs were overrun in midfield and, had it not been for Palacios in particular, the game could have been over by half-time. The Honduran did not have one of his better games in terms of distribution, but his usual bite and application were there. This was just as well, given the presence of Jenas who can be influential when he has the ball but maddeningly uninterested when he does not. The Reebok is not a venue where he is likely to shine. Kranjcar is also unlikely to win any medals for his battling qualities but he took his goal beautifully, as well as putting the ball on Corluka’s head for the equalizer. He certainly did enough to warrant his inclusion in the Spurs midfield alongside - rather than instead of - his fellow Croatian, Luka Modric.

Up front, Peter Crouch toiled away manfully while the four-goal Robbie Keane of last week transformed himself once again into the invisible man. The team looked much better when Keane was eventually replaced by Defoe. The only question is why it took Harry Redknapp so long to make the change, with Keane clearly offering no outlet to his beleaguered colleague in the Spurs midfield. At the back, Assou-Ekotto had a shocker but his play has been so good this season that he is entitled to an off-day. Huddlestone also came in for some criticism after the game, but he performed reasonably well in what is not his natural position, and was crucially on hand to prevent Cohen from making it 2-0.

The two week break now comes at an opportune time, giving Modric and at least one of the centre-backs a chance to rejoin the side. Next up is a visit to Fratton Park and Harry Redknapp’s old employers. Hopefully that will provide motivation enough for a more committed and effective display from the team as a whole.

When is Bale going to get his chance? The lad has loads of potential. The marking by Assou-Ekotto on the 2nd goal was horrible. I could have done better with my blown out knee. Harry should give Bale a chance. Spurs invested plenty in him so we might as well give the boy a chance to live up to his potential.

All in all, disappointing performance from Spurs. Would have liked to see them do more against a team like Bolton. Time to step up against teams other than those just promoted Robbie. Your a quality player, time to show it when your team needs you. Hopefully playing with Ireland can put you back in form against quality teams. (please beat Italy).

Lets hope the trend of good form continues this year spurs.

I must admit I was expecting a win from this weekend gone. Not expecting a whooping, but a win. The first half was abysmal and were in truth lucky to be going in at 1-1. Second half was better, and had crouch been a little lucky, or a wee bit sharper may have scraped a win (though not justified had we won).

Keane again, is an enigma! Since his return from the "dirty 'Pool" he has not been a shadow of his former self. A shame, as he is class. Jenas is average at best, and should be the reserve player not some of the other players, who in truth at least have potential. Bale on the left wing and move Kranjcar inside. Or Bentley on the right with Lennon on the left with Kranjcar again in the centre. Again it is a shame that Dos Santos is out, as he may have been the injection that was rightly needed.

Ideally for me the Midfield would consist of Lennon, Palacios, Modric, Dos Santos, Huddlestone (just in front of the back 3).

I hope the good form continues and a win at Portmouth.

To HR....stop favouring Keane. Against Bolton, he hardly touch the ball but you still play him & he ended up chasing the opponents. How to be successful if you keep playing those who can't deliver. Be sincere with your selections.
Give the talented ones like Pav & Santos a chance. Don't SCREW UP the team else you better leave before the others go. Looking forward to see some changes against Portsmouth but make sure your line up do not favour your old club.

Honestly I was happy with the point at Bolton. It was always going to be a tough ask to get all 3 points considering our injuries at CB and Notlob's style always makes it very difficult for a footballing side like us. Benny Ekotto did have a poor match but he has been magnificent for almost a full season now, so people calling for Bale is ridiculous. Bale is still very poor at defending and that is a problem seeing as he is a LB, I think if he has any future at Spurs it will be at LW.

On to the Keane situation I like most fans don't understand his automatic inclusion. I do appreciate his overall contribution to the cause but fact is he is a striker and he needs to score or at least look dangerous and the Burnley game aside he hasn't looked the part all season.
