Unconfirmed reports today have suggested that Tony Pulis has ended his search for an Assistant Manager by appointing former Thai National Boss Peter Reid.

We know Pulis has been on the lookout for a new Assistant Manager following the redeployment of Dave Kemp to a scouting role closer to his American base and it seems Reid is the chosen one. Reports surfaced two weeks ago that Brian Kidd and 2 others headed the shortlist to replace Kemp and it seems a decision has now been made on the former Sunderland and Man City Manager.

Interestingly Reid has worked with Sam Ellis in the past, another rumoured target for this position, it may well have the been the former Stoke coach's recommendation that led to this appointment after a public snub for his advances earlier in the summer. I have to say that I would have preferred Brian Kidd personally, given his contacts in the game and his winning mentality having served under Sir Alex - but Pulis perhaps prefers an old school battler, let's hope he has some contacts of his own as yet another week passes with no signings to the playing staff.

If this story turns out to be true I would like to welcome Peter Reid to the Potteries, there is plenty to do, so roll your sleeves up, get your kit on, you're in the starting lineup tomorrow...
