Just as I thought we will be pushed off the top of the group, the Algerians came and saved my day! We all knew that Algeria must do well for us to have any benefit from. And they did, securing a 0 - 0 draw that keeps England in third!

Before the match, Saadane (or was it Bougherra?) talked about something of an immortality. He was talking about a win over England. I was of course thinking "Yeah, right", but tonight's was a performance that will surely seal their status of heroes back in Algeria.

They showed much more heart than the English, they played good football, were solid in defence, didn't tire towards the end, all that was missing was chances for goal. It was a true surprise as I thought England will surely win. But something strange is happening in this group. England and USA, who cancelled each other in an exciting and well-played draw, expected easy points from teams who seemingly tried to put 20.000 people to sleep, with Slovenia prevailing over Algeria with some help of luck. Perhaps were both of two favourites completely surrprised by the minnows' improvement, and were not able to win at all. This group is getting more and more exciting, and the current standings are:

1. SVN . . . . . 2. . 1. . 1. . 0. . . . . 3:2. . . . 4
2. USA . . . . . 2. . 0. . 2. . 0. . . . . 3:3. . . . 2
3. ENG . . . . . 2. . 0. . 2. . 0. . . . . 1:1. . . . 2
4. ALG . . . . . 2. . 0. . 1. . 1. . . . . 0:1. . . . 1

That means Slovenia qualify for the Round of 16 with a draw against England, and may come through even with a defeat. The most pressure is now on the English, who now cannot afford to slip again. In their previous match, the goalkeeper was at fault for not winning. This time, everybody except the keeper were.

The last round of matches will be captivating, to say the least. If USA and Algeria draw, then Slovenia advance. It's still possible that both Algeria and Slovenia go through, which would've been a true sensation. Now what was that about England having the easiest group of all times?
