Rangers have sold their main striker for around £6 million, well under his true value. For some this represents the point the club lost the league. They are wrong though we lost the league because of Naismith's injury, or more accurately management's inability to cope with his enforced absence. Jelavic? Good player yes, but his heart is not in it and we can always find someone else to take the penalties.

Questions have been asked about Ally McCoist's tactical abilities and what type of team he is seeking to develop. Watching the game on Saturday there was an all too familiar feel to Rangers' efforts. Players out of position? Check. A lacklustre first half building to a frantic last 20 minutes? Check. Lack of direction from the bench? Check.

Another hard fought win was secured in Perth at the weekend by our rag tag first 11. The three points scarcely matter though as Rangers face a far greater fight this week as the tax tribunal resumes.

There is an element of black humour surrounding the current press stories regarding whether Rangers can or cannot afford to purchase Fran Sandaza from St Johnstone. In light of the potential £50 million tax bill should we lose the "Big Case" the sadly predictable deluge of mostly made up January transfer stories is a truly damning indictment of the standard of tabloid and broadsheet journalism in Scotland.
