Quite the week or so round Ibrox way. No sooner were we back on track than we got mugged in deepest darkest Falkirk...
The good
Naismith - Quite simply a stand out in the first part of this season. He combines skill, flair and a drive missing in too many modern professionals
Bocanegra and Goian - Bocanegra displays a composure and organisation that make him look like an obvious future captain. Goian meanwhile showed a physicality in the Old Firm match that will serve him well in the SPL. It seems a little odd to describe a centre half partnership which let in two goals as having been comfortable against Celtic but they were. Where this leaves Davie Weir and Kyle Bartley I've no idea. Where it leaves Rangers is far stronger than last year and far stronger in this department than Celtic. Already looking like two of our best buys in years.
The Old Firm Game - Generally showed all that can be good about one of these games. Loads of goals, a sending off and never a dull moment.
Team Spirit - It would have been easy for us to have lost that game after a goalkeeping howler and a very poor bit of officiating that wrongly saw a goal chopped off. Instead we dug in and won proving a point to our more paranoid East End friends. It may be early in the season but that already looks like a huge three points.
Kelvin Wilson - Ok not technically Rangers related but come on how amusing a debut Old Firm performance was that? Already has the air of a young Anton Rogan but with rubbish tattoos.
The bad
Naismith - No need for the elbow at the weekend. Aggression is important though and with some players you just need to accept the flaws in their temperament. I do though think we should expect better
Reliance - We seem too reliant on Naismith, Davis and Jelavic. I don't just mean their individual efforts but the impact they have on those around them. Playing through the middle with the support of Naismith and Jelavic Lafferty is starting to look a 20 SPL goal striker! I anticipate a stuffy effort against Killie if Naismith is suspended
Pink boots - If I've missed something and they were for charity (Australia's rugby league has a ladies weekend where the teams all wear pink shirts for charity. No really) then I apologise. Otherwise Kyle you should be very very ashamed
White Socks - While I'm at it can we please please get rid of these. They are Advocaat's shame, which is saying something since he had a bad hair weave, introduced the brown shoes, signed Tony Vidmar and ran up a debt of Greek proportions.
The Falkirk
Never ever acceptable from a Rangers team. No matter that the tournament is irreparably devalued compared to its Skol sponsored halcyon days, if the squad had any pride they would return whatever bonus they received for beating Celtic after that effort.

Apparently Lafferty's boots were for charity or something like that anyway. I completely agree with you on everything here, especially the defence part. Any time a transfer window rolls around everyone says Celtic need to buy some better defenders, and every year they try to buy everything but one. I don't get it. As for Samaras, I would leave him on the bench he is terrible up front and puts barely any effort into the game.

Callum I stand corrected thanks.
