Rangers' lunchtime kick-off with Inverness Caley Thistle is likely to go ahead this Saturday after SPL Officials cancelled two of the weekend's matches.

Celtic against Kilmarnock and Motherwell's trip to Tannadice have been postponed for safety reasons and Hibs' match with Hamilton Accies could be called-off tomorrow.

The Gers haven't played in the SPL since they beat Kilmarnock 3-2 at Rugby Park over 2 weeks ago. Wednesday's match with Bursaspor saw Madjid Bougherra return to the squad and he will be joined by Sasa Papac who is available after a nasty head-knock in the 3-0 defeat to Hibernian.

SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "I am slightly surprised the police have issued advice so early, especially when a substantial thaw is forecast over the next two days.

"However, when police advice is on the grounds of safety, we have no choice but to postpone the games."

Rangers' postponed match with Dundee United 2 weeks ago has been moved to the 21st of December, while dates for the matches with Hearts and St Johnstone have still be confirmed.
