It seems more penalty kicks have been blocked this season than in prior years. The result is many fantasy points have been lost for managers whose players have missed penalty kicks. Conversely,

some fantasy managers have gained points from goal keepers who have blocked the shots. In that regard, I have a question. But first a disclaimer: I am worse than AVB and admit I never played competitive soccer. American football, basketball and baseball yes--but not real football. With that understood, why don't more players kick the ball straight and high into the net? It seems that nearly all of the time, goal keepers dive low and to their left or right.
This Yank would like to be enlightened. Ta!

some do, but it is pretty risky and especially if you become known for it (which means you will be caught eventually). You have to get it just right because if they will still have legs in the vicinity, they might get it with a trailing leg. Here's a classic FAIL example:

Comment: Thanks. I understand you have to mix your approaches up, but I rarely see the straight-on method.
By the way, has Charlie Adam's penalty kick attempt landed yet?

It definitely has not yet. good lord it was awful, and I even called his baggio shot before he even took it. like "doesn't Charlie Adam seem like a dude who would blaze a PK over Baggio style? that's exactly what is gonna happen...watch"

The problem with that is that the ball might not go between the posts. I would prefer i shoot left or right but the roof. That is also classic.

Yakubu's first penalty kick yesterday was a howler!
