Hello lads and lassies,
Before the EPL season began, Sir John listed the fantasy players based on last season that he believes are over-rated for productivity and price. He had a starting XI and then a list of others.
His starting XI were:
Torres
Agbonlahor
Fabregas (transferred out)
Essien (injured pre-season)
Bale (match postponed)
Wilshere
Glen Johnson (injured)
Sagna
Evra (injured)
Rio Ferdinand
Friedel (match postponed)
A number of factors (as noted) prevented all of those players from an appearance in Week 1, so Sir John has assembled a starting XI using some of the players above and others he listed as nearly over-rated. That would expand the roster beyond 15; however, the comparison is presented with goodwill from across the pond.
The starting XI and their fantasy points in Week 1:
Torres - 3
Gabby - 2
Carroll - 3
Wilshere - 0 (late scratch from the lineup but a possible inclusion)
Berry - 4
Arshavin - 3
Sagna - 3
Rio - 3
Wes Brown - 3
Fabio (actually Sir John had Rafael and a host of Spurs defenders in his list of others--but Fabio is interchangeable with Rafael) - 3
Schwartzer - 6
The total for that XI is 33; very weak in a week of low scores (the point total might be higher if a captain was designated).
With that said, how did Sir John's XI fare? As you will see, not much better.
Rooney - 7
Bent - 3
Ba - 1
Dempsey - 4
Taarabt - 3
N'Zogbia - 3
Kyut (Captain) - 0
Vidic - 1
Hangeland - 6
Lescott - 6
Hart - 7
The total from your humble Yank for Week 1 in Premier Fantasy is 41; hardly impressive.
I am not sure what all of this proves other than luck may be just about as big a factor in fantasy success as skill and research. So happy roster building and good luck in Week 2.
Until another time I remain,
Yours faithfully,
Sir John

Sir John,
What are your thoughts on Kun Aguero as a Fantasy player now that he picked up 2 goals and an assist on his first premier league appearance? Will he play enough to get good points, was it a fluke since they played Swansea (no disrespect to Swansea but they were just completely outmatched)?
Sir John's comment:
Hello Sean,
It is always a risk to take a Man City player in Fantasy play as Mancini's squad selection is sometimes a mystery. However, I think Aguero is the real deal; so much so that I have transferred him in to my team.
It remains to be seen what will happen with Tevez or if the two would be on at the same time. But I think many more goals are coming from Aguero's boots.

Short, sweet, to the point, FREE-exactly as information should be!

Of the panoply of websites I've pored over this has the most veracity.
