Portsmouth
Posted by Ben Smith on 11/25/2009

Portsmouth have sealed their passage to the Championship, in fact, they booked the express train. They have given Paul Hart the sack and thrown any chance at Premiership survival in the bin.

Call it whatever you like but this is a mistake. Avram Grant is the popular candidate but if he comes in now it won't make a difference. I won't lie, when rumours were swirling at the beginning of the season I said that Mr. Grant was the best possible replacement.

But a mid season replacement was not what I intended. Although, to be fair, I didn't expect our new Arabian owner to have such a short horrific tenure. I also didn't expect such a poor start to the season.

I didn't expect a lot of things, one of those was that I didn't think that we would drop like everyone said we would, but it seems with this latest misstep we will.

The biggest mistake was that Paul Hart was ever appointed manager. That mistake was compounded by not removing him many weeks ago when there was still a chance of survival!

You know what? Paul Hart wasn't perfect but sacking him now was a mistake, that's all I can say. Honestly, I'll be surprised if we stay alive now.

you pratt - i hate people who work on web sites and know nothing about football - hart was a loser - you should be able to associate with that.

Relax guys, there are still 24 games on hand. It's a long way till the end of the season. Get now eight victories plus five draws and Pompey is safe.

Realistically we will be on 12 points at 1st Jan and that would have been the same whether we had Grant or Hart in charge. The only logic for the change is that Grant may be better able to attract the players who can save us in the second half of the season.
