Drawing hurts. Losing hurts. Saturday's game against Bolton, that hurt. And it hurt bad. It seemed to be one thing after another for Pompey on Saturday. And our hopes of turning things around were squashed by Gary Cahill's *ahem* goal.
What probably hurt worse was seeing goals from Liverpool and Arsenal and Manchester City flash on the screen while we struggled against a side I know we are capable of beating.
Now, I could blame the ref for allowing Cahill's *ahem* goal, or I could bemoan the, put in the most polite terms possible, "soft" penalty that was given. I could point out that it should have finished 2-1 in our favour.
But, I won't. Instead, I will congratulate Bolton on a hard earned victory. And I will urge our lads to Play Up, and to come out strong against Aston Villa. Because what is most frustrating about our current losing streak is that we can't seem to pick up points when I know that we're more than able to do so. We've got the talent and we have a quality manager who gives this club 100%. I've mentioned before that I am less than enamored with our current owner, but he certainly has helped us as we try to pull ourselves out of this funk that we're in. I have to give him that.
This weekend was tough, losing such a close match that we really should have won, hurt us. But I've got faith in the squad and I have faith in all of Portsmouth. So, Play up Pompey, Play up.

This is a message to the squad. Don't give in, guys. You're having a tough start to the season but don't let 'League one' thinking affect your game. How do you beat the other teams? Get fitter so that you go at them relentlessly. That kind of pressure will pay off, no question.
