Portsmouth

As David Beckham admits to being open to a move back to the Premier League, Pompey really should try to secure the midfielder.

It was October of last year and things were good. Jermain Defoe was still with the club as was Mr. Redknapp. The Major League Soccer season was finished and Becks wanted to keep his place in the England squad.

By this late stage in the negotiations his move to AC Milan was all but sealed and yet ole 'Arry still made it known that he thought Beckham would look good in Blue. Some called it cheeky, others said that it would be a good fit but wouldn't happen and others just dismissed it.

But now it appears that there's trouble in paradise and the former Red Devil is down with another stint in the PL.

Now, what would it take to lure the Beckhams to Pompey?

First and foremost, money. And, spelling mistakes aside, it seems that the takeover is finally going through. This is good news for Portsmouth and LA if a deal can be reached. And I'm sure LA would welcome the spending cash seeing as how even with Beckham they can't win anything.

Secondly. This will help.

And last, but not least, Peter Crouch staying with the club. I honestly believe that performing well in the PL will boost Beckham's chances of staying in the England squad for the 2010 World Cup as well as his striker's. So if Pompey can keep Petey around Fratton then I think that Becks could bend it in blue.

Looks like Crouch is heading out the door, and Becks pledged loyalty to his contract in L.A.

Portsmouth is in real trouble as the season beckons. (or is that Beckhams?) The new ownership should make for a more secure future, but the waters are going to be mighty choppy for the next year.

Yeah, as soon as I posted this I saw that Petey was in Sunderland. You're spot on though Stan, but hopefully it won't get too bad.

If this takeover doesnt get completed soon, Pompey is gonna end up with a squad of old guys past their prime. Crouch looks like he's out of there today. That leaves Nuge up front...yikes

We are runing out of players, Crouch is almost out, Distin is also going, and by the time this never-ending-take-over-story is sorted out we will not have a team to put on the field, and there will be no one realy worth signing
I can“t imagine the starting line up just a month from today....
