Portsmouth
Posted by Ben Smith on 06/28/2009

Fortunately for Pompey it's been a relatively quiet summer at "The Fortress". With the two biggest story lines being bright futures and a loved one moving on. I don't know about the rest of you lads but I hope that it stays that way.

Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City are both looking into signing Peter Crouch, or at least that's what the newspapers tell me. Can you see him there? I guess I could, but I don't want to.

As you could probably tell, I favour Petey just a bit. In fact "Quarter to Crouch" may be the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Crouch has said that he wants to see the club's situation in general settle down.

In other news Epltalk.com has released reported sketches of the new Home and Away
kits for the 2009/10 season. They look first class to me, but no sponsor? I like it. Looks sweet.

And an Aussie sporting goods site is selling pre-orders.

And now that I've run out of stuff to write about I'll say goodbye until next time.

I certainly hope that Peter Crouch is just as bored with the summer as you are, because his comments didn't leave me with a good feeling. I also read talk of AC Milan being interested, which would be difficult for him to turn down. Also, they now could easily outbid any Premier League team if they needed to.
As all Pompey fans are, I just eagerly anticipate the sale of the club going thru. While the new owner is not flush with cash as Man City's are, we should at least be making some pickups here or there, outside of Mokoena coming on a free. I'd like to see a bid for the striker, Fortune, and maybe find out what Lucas Neill's price tag is. But with all of the improvement so far this summer, inactivity makes me think Portsmouth is a bottom-3 club at the moment.
With all the players being released, do we even have enough for a starting eleven and full bench?
