Paper Round

Does everyone believe that John Terry is staying at Chelsea? Well, the talk in Fleet Street is divided. While many quote Carlo Ancelotti as saying that a mooted move to Manchester City would be "impossible", the Daily Telegraph takes up an interesting line.

Their take on things is that what Ancelotti was really doing is saying that "JT" will have to renege on his own pledges to be able to join City, thus losing the crown of "Mr Chelsea". Peter Kenyon in The Independent says that he has received a personal assurance from Terry that astronomical wages are not enough to tempt him to Manchester.

On the subject of Chelsea, the Daily Star say that the Blues will make one last bid for Franck Ribery, despite the signing of Yuri Zhirkov on Monday, and the presence of Ashley Cole to man the left full-back role.

Elsewhere, Manchester United introduced Michael Owen to their other players on Monday, say the Daily Telegraph while The Sun say that Klaas Jan Huntelaar will be the next striker to arrive at Old Trafford, from all places, Real Madrid.

Much coverage is given to Cristiano Ronaldo's glity and surely over-the-top presentation at Real Madrid in front of 80,000 adoring fans, a state of play which no doubt pleased the winking one.

Couple of interesting news lines: Sunderland and Aston Villa are disputing the services of Peter Crouch. The Guardian say that Sunderland lead the chase while The Sun say Aston Villa are back in for a player they had previously.

The Mirror land a scoop that Paddy Kenny, goalkeeper of Sheffield United has failed a drugs test during last season's play-off game with Preston North End.
