Paper Round
Posted by Dale Johnson on 07/16/2009

There a lot of talk about Emmanuel Adebayor in today's papers. Does he want to move to Man City or not? And for how much cash?

The Sun says that the Togo international is stalling on a move to Eastlands.

And surely he hasn't been offered to Manchester United? That's what the Daily Mail claims.

In the Guardian, it is thought he is concerned that City are not considered a big club back home in Africa.

A couple of snippets of Carlos Tevez news, after all he's been in this blog so often he feels like a close personal friend. The Daily Mirror reports that his decision to join City was all down to Diego Maradona, while the same paper suggests the striker could buy Cristiano Ronaldo's old pad.

The Daily Mirror also have a doubtful story of City bidding £12m for Spurs flop David Bentley.

Coming in at Tottenham could be Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The Dutch striker, who has no future at Real Madrid, is stalling on a move to Germany with Vfb Stuttgart, with the Daily Mirror saying he wants to move to London. It's also reported by the Daily Mail.

Down at the Emirates, it's been a relatively quite summer of transfer dealings for Arsene Wenger. And it could well stay that way if you believe The Sun, The paper claims that Bordeaux have upped their asking price for striker Marouane Chamakh who will now cost £7m PLUS defender Mikael Silvestre. Ouch.

West Ham are being strongly linked with Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen, who played with Gianfranco Zola at Chelsea. The Daily Star says the Hammers will have to fork out £5m to land the 30-year-old.

The Sun reports that Paul Hart is to be kept on as Portsmouth manager when Sulaiman Al Fahim's takeover goes through. No Roberto Mancini, then. The story even has quotes!

And finally... it seems Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour is even more generous that we first thought. The Sun reports that the whole squad has been handed special edition Franck Muller watches - worth £168,000 each!
