Like all good films, the Carlo Ancelotti saga has a sequel. Now he's actually been announced as the leading man at Chelsea, he can start to spend some of his cash. Although the Daily Star reckon Roman might have a bit more input in proceedings at the Bridge this time.
Yesterday's papers were filled with possible speculation about who the Italian might bring to the club and, now that we actually know he'll be there, has anything changed?
The short answer is no. Although the major chance of tact appears to be that Ancelotti is now linked with every good AC Milan player that might fare well playing in the English Premier League.
Kaka is the main man at the San Siro, so won't be short of suitors. We doubt that he'll cost the £107m that Man CIty were willing to splash out last January, but the Sun reckon that he'll head out of Milan alongside his former boss after general manager Adriano Galliani revealed it would be hard to refuse a big offer.
Pato, too, is another of the Milan gems who could be on his way. The Sun again confidently claim that Ancelotti wants the Brazilian to lead his Blues attack - but would also quite like a side order of Glen Johnson from Portsmouth. Not sure if Roman will be keen to spend double what he sold the defender for; or, indeed, if Johnson fancies a battle with Bosingwa for the right-back slot, but it's a nice story.
If it's not Chelsea, then it's Newcastle at the moment, with Michael Owen being the first likely to jump ship. Everton are circling, and are very keen to add another injury-prone striker to their already star-studded lineup. The Daily Mirror think that David Moyes would be willing to offer Owen £50,000-a-week for a chance to continue his career in the top flight.
Hull boss Phil Brown, according to the Daily Mirror would also like to throw Kevin Nolan a lifeline and try to stiffen up that Tigers' midfield a tad.
Tottenham are also in the news, but Spurs boss Harry Redknapp would rather spend his hard-earned cash bringing more ex-Tottenham players back to the club and prove to everyone that Juande Ramos was rubbish. Goalkeeper Paul Robinson could get another bite at the cherry, as 'Arry doesn't fancy Gomes, say the Daily Star.
Pascal Chimbonda could be on his way out, to Blackburn; while the Londoners chase Marseille utility man Lorik Cana, who is valued at £5m and it looks like there could be a bit of clear-out at White Hart Lane with 'Arry keen to get more than two points from his first eight games.
With Manchester United's players getting older, the vultures are circling. Not only have Stoke offered Paul Scholes a chance to continue his career at the top level, and try out some coaching too, but now Middlesbrough are putting all their faith in Gary Neville - in the Daily Mirror. Luring United's stawarts away is hard enough, but pursuading them to go to Boro? Tough.
And finally, United have also lifted the lid on the pampered life of a Premier League football, thanks to Patrice 'I can't change a lightbulb' Evra. The Daily Mirror have the news that poor old player liaison manager Barry Moorhouse is called out day and night to deal with a number of tedious problems that footballers are just far too important, or stupid, to fix.
