Paper Round

Chelsea will not be satisfied with just pinching manager Carlo Ancellotti from AC Milan in the summer, the Premier League club also want Brazil superstar Kaka to follow him to Stamford Bridge.

Italian Ancelotti is expected to be unveiled as the new Blues boss when interim coach Guus Hiddink returns to the Russia national team and is eager for his playmaker at the San Siro to join him in London, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper also claim Milan are set to unveil Marco van Basten as Ancelotti's successor on Monday.

Despite all the headlines to the contrary this week, The Sun claim that Cristiano Ronaldo's time at Old Trafford will come to an end in the summer when the Manchester United forward finally joins Real Madrid.

Although the player himself said he was "only concerned about Manchester United next season" during the week, £70m-rated Ronaldo has apparently told friends and team-mates to forget stories he is staying in the Premier League.

A United source told SunSport: "He looks to have made up his mind again. He is not saying it publicly with such a big game coming up next week in the Champions League final.

"But in his mind that will be his last [season]. The fact Real trailed Barcelona in La Liga this season only makes the challenge more exciting for him."

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has warned his blabber-mouthed board to "shut up" about spending plans for the summer to prevent selling clubs from increasing their prices.

"If I tell you I have £250m, every player I call will cost three times more," Wenger told The Guardian. "I believe the more everybody shuts up inside the club and doesn't talk about anything and works hard is the best."

But former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb says the Gunners must loosen their purse strings if they want to prevent their best players seeking moves to other clubs.

Hleb told The Times: "Arsenal have had a lot of problems this year. They have the same problem every year with players leaving. They have a great team, but at the end of the season players leave and the boss has to find a new team and buy new players. This is not easy."

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has switched his attentions to Aston Villa striker John Carew, after finally losing patience with Blackburn Rover's demands for their striker Roque Santa Cruz, according to The Mirror.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce, knowing City can pay, is holding out for around £15-20m for Santa Cruz even though he has scored just six goals this season, and that is asking too much.

The Daily Star report that Sir Alex Ferguson has rapped the Premier League for making Manchester United play Hull City three days before the Champions League final.

First of all, what is the allure of a bad club, Chelski, and a brat for an owner to ANY coach of caliber? I can't believe any other reason than money. Look at Chevy, they almost ruined him there. Carlo is surely only trying to become rich...

Secondly, who cares what Hleb thinks? He is a little trouble maker, so is Flamini, and Arsenal would FAR better off if they would have lost the other brat in Adebayor. AW is right, being tactical is a far better approach...GOONERFOREVER

carlo if you are on your way out of milan don't think of going with KAKA ok KAKA is the eye of milan please go and leave KAKA alone.

Posted by promise benedict on 05/23/2009

concerning the issue of AC milan coach coming to chelsea with his world famous player Kaka will be a great boost to Chelsea players and also to the fans of Chelsea.

Posted by mono on 05/23/2009

AW is right clubs should shut up about how much money they have to spend because that is the primary cause of these over inflated xfer fees we're seeing. Perhaps fans should get a grip as well by stopping their demands to know how much other people are willing to spend to satisfy the fans demands for success.

You pay for a ticket to watch two teams play there is no guarantee you're going to win. Unfortunately alot of modern day fans don't care about the actual game only the result which is a sad testament to their life as a whole.

Posted by Riadi on 05/23/2009

please dont go kaka. u cant get top performance on there. remember Marcel Desailly, George Weah and at last is 'your best friend' Andrei Shevchenko

Posted by PADDY KABUYE on 05/23/2009

Hello. I think if Chelsea get both Coach and a play (Kaka & Acnellotti) they will be having many hope of glories that the had during Mourinho times.

Posted by Korede (Masterkay) on 05/23/2009

This will be a good news to the world and the team in challenges to all the remaining teams in premier league if theses could come to pass. In fact there will be a role model and the Chelsea's squad will be able to face any team within and outside the league and also they will be able to change in style of play and will not depend only one pattern.

I pray and also want Carlo Ancellotti at Stamford Bridge as the successor.

This will be a dream come true as I will prefer the first XI to be as listed:

Petr Cech, Terry, Calvaho, Alex, Bosingwa, A.Cole, Lampard, Essien, Manceiene, Kalou and Anelka

Sub: Queresma, Drogba, Mikel and Malouda

Ballack and Belleti should be sold off or loaned out not that they're not good but they have to.

Posted by alex on 05/23/2009

dude just named a starting 11 that included 6 defenders. terry, carvalho, and alex are all center backs so you would have to put one on the bench. then bosingwa and cole would definitely be the starting wing-backs but what are you talking about with mancienne? he's a 21 year old right back who is our future and will continue to develope the next two seasons until bosingwa starts to wear down. you only have 2 midfielders and then two strikers who play exactly the same type of game. if we get kaka then you'll see.....

Cech
Bosingwa Alex Terry A. Cole

Essien
J. Cole Malouda
Lampard Kaka

Drogba

this all depends on whether we decide to A. sell drogba. B. buy another striker. or C. have someone else begin playing to their full potential other then drogba. im pointing the finger at kalou, who has had plenty of time to "develope" but hasnt done it yet

Posted by wisam on 05/23/2009

to Korede:
about ur starting eleven there, ur an idiot, u have 6 defenders in there! and your leaving drogba out, and including manceiene....i don't think u even understand the concept of what a team should be composed of! there is no team in the world that plays 6-3-1 !

Posted by MRIQiqbal on 05/23/2009

Kaka, wheresoever u go go with all your heart. i am ur fan and i will support ur team always, no matter milan , madrid or city

Posted by V on 05/23/2009

If Ancellotti is going to Stamford Bridge, personally I think Chelsea will need Guus to rescue them for a second time! Reason is simple -That genuis doesn't speak a word of English man!

The scenario by Xmas will probably be exactly the same as Scolari. Plus Chelsea has often been critized for being defensive-minded, even when Guus is in charge. And now Abromovich is hiring a Serie A coach? You have gotta be kiddin' me man, I thought he bought Chelsea to entertain him by playing offensive football!

As long as Ancellotti is in charge, sadly Chelsea won't win a nickel. Sigh...

Posted by dj on 05/23/2009

I wonder why ESPN likes to quote sources like The Sun. It's obviously an unreliable source.

On a side note,

Korede (Masterkay): Terry,Carvalho,Mancienne,Alex all in the first XI? lol what formation will that be, 6-2-2?

Posted by Ubong on 05/23/2009

Carlo Ancellottti is a good successor for hiddink, i wished hiddink chnaged his mind to stay but nevertheless, Acellotti should not forget that English league is not same with italian league. He has to come with a plan to win just as jose did.We have the players and the money, am wishing him all the best and success while we awaits he coming. pls Ballack,Belleti Anelka should go .Blues for life

Posted by Kachi on 05/23/2009

I think the best option for chelsea is to sell those big front players like balack, malouda and drogba and look for first strong front young strikers like villa, rebery including kaka if not, no champions league for them for life. Up barcelona.

Posted by albie on 05/23/2009

Is kaka going to end Chelseas first-tier trophy-less run? No. Why is he in even in our radar? The media thinks he's relevant. Unfortunately the poor lad has no impact. Kaka would be relevant if football was pure. It's hardly that now.

Posted by sham on 05/23/2009

Kaka...you're more than welcome here at Manchester United..the 3x in a row EPL champion, world club champion and the soon to be the 2x in a row champion league winner.

If you go the Chelsea, you'll be just like Shevchenko.

Posted by Brian on 05/23/2009

I'll take no Ancelotti/Kaka over Ancelotti/Kaka, thanks anyway Milan...

Posted by jerim on 05/23/2009

The news of Carlo Ancelleto and Kaka both joining Chelsea is great news. They should both be able to add some flavour to Chelsea's game.

I also think that they are capable of winning the Champion's league cup that Chelsea so much craves

Posted by C J on 05/23/2009

Welcome Ricky:) When should I buy my shirt? What number will you wear?

Posted by Mo on 05/23/2009

- Ancelotti + Kaka to Chelsea: With all due respect to Chelsea, Milan are far superior to Chelsea in every possible way. As previously mentioned in earlier comments, the motives behind the move are purely financial. And I believe Kaka is smart enough to know he's better off at AC.

- C.Ronaldo to Real: As a Real Madrid fan, I'll be the first to say that I don't want to see Ronaldo in the squad next season. Madrid's problems cannot be solved by one player, the issues lie within the structure of the club. Madrid are better off spending the 70-100M on 4-5 players to give the squad more depth.

- Wenger: Can't agree with him more.

Posted by Andrew Linus on 05/23/2009

Carlo Ancelotti dont think or dream
of taking kaka to a culb that dones
have respect.why do u want luro kaka
to chelsea fc . kaka is the next milan
captain.

Posted by mike on 05/23/2009

i would very much welcome ancellotti and kaka to the BRIDGE and if possible ADEBAYOR should be brought on-board also....and we'll be unstoppable

Posted by Charles on 05/23/2009

Cristiano Ronaldo should to stay at Old Trafford with Manchester united for good. The fans love him; his impact is quite commendable, he is a fantastic player. The club want him and they need more of his best. Real Madrid will kill his career. Real Madrid never appreciate player. Whenever they are defeated by their opponent they forget the pass glories of the player. Any player going real Madrid has to be very careful because they did not know the definition patience.

Posted by Samson - United4life. on 05/23/2009

Why C.Ancelloti will want 2 give up a talent-studed club like AC Milan for Chelsea still baffles me. Nonetheless, my candid advice 2 Kaka is to stick with AC & not give up good football with the likes of Pirlo & others for a team without a defined style of play like Chelsea.

Posted by will on 05/23/2009

As a fan of both Chelsea and AC Milan I have mixed feelings about the Kaka transfer rumors. I think next season with Beckham, Kaka, Pato, and Rhonaldhino, Milan could be playing both powerful and entertaining football. At the same time, with Ancelloti gone, I think Kaka would go soon after.

Assuming he is leaving...he has to understand that if he wants to continue to improve and regain status as the best footballer in the world, he needs to get to the EPL. Its unquestionably the best league in the World right now. Now, looking at the big teams there- United doesn't want him and Rafa is too in love with Spain to think about a quality Brazilian. Arsenal would never put up the $$$ for him, which leaves only one top side remaining: Chelsea. Throw in his old coach... what's not to love?

Kaka already avoided the mistake Robinho made by turning down the Man City offer in January, now he can go to Chelsea like Robinho should have done and lead us to Champions League glory. GO BLUES!

Posted by Eva on 05/24/2009

Kaka you will go to chelsea and never win any awards.Andrei Shevchenko is a typical example. he went to Chelsea and could not perform, got back to Italy to discover he had lost his first team shirt.I got to love the club because of Sheva and You.So please even if Ancelotti goes dont follow him.
Abrahamovics money is just disturbing him. Anelotti you are a good coach to be accepted and then sacked even after just two matches of not getting results please just negotiate something with Berlusconi. dont just go to Chelsea.

Posted by Salisu Yahaya on 05/24/2009

Drogba is a Great Player i've ever seeing,my advise to my favourite club(chelsea)they should not attempt in to sale him.I wish to see Ancelloti coming to chelsea with KAKA next season wearing no 9 blue jersey @ Stamfort Bridge

Posted by dmz on 05/25/2009

kaka to chelsea? he's an attacking central midfielder. so is lampard, ballack and deco. it's getting a little cramped in the middle of the stamford bridge park. essien is a sure starter. Mikel wants his games. chelsea seriously lacks depth. kalou is not consistent. cole doesnt provide much width. i'd rather they spend the money on Davild Silva or Ribery rather than on Kaka!

Hleb told The Times: "Arsenal have had a lot of problems this year. They have the same problem every year with players leaving. They have a great team, but at the end of the season players leave and the boss has to find a new team and buy new players. This is not easy."

Said the player who left the club to be a Spanish bench-warmer

They quote sources like the The Sun because it is round up of what is in the newspapers. And you can't really have a 'Paper Round' without refering to the UK's biggest selling paper.
