Paper Round

So it was a rather disappointing night at the Nou Camp as Chelsea held Barcelona to a bore draw. The Guardian report that Barcelona's players are really, really unhappy with the negative tactics shown by the Blues. But Guus Hiddink's men are quite happy with the draw thank you very much.

Not quite the 4-4 classic some were predicting, but it's ok. We have something to cheer you up this morning. News that Chelsea's new manager is going to be Jose Mourinho clone Slaven Bilic!

The Sun bring us word that the Croatian boss is keen to jump ship for whatever huge amounts of money are thrown his way; and he's even willing to bring the scowl, the chewing gum and his own Armani jacket to prove to Mr Abramovich that he can do anything Jose did.

Staying with Chelsea, we're all aware that there's going to be a pretty hefty summer clean-up of various stars, so the Daily Mirror have gone right in there with a story on Real Madrid's Rafael van der Vaart who is apparently heading to the Bridge for £8m. Seems a bargain price for a Dutch international and, after all, he's got to be better than Deco.

One of the longest transfer sagas of last year seems to have risen its ugly head again - no offence Xabi. It's Juventus back in for Liverpool's Xabi Alonso. Claudio Ranieiri has already called him 'slow' and the club have said they won't pay over the odds for him, but it's on again!

Leave it to the Sun to drop names and have an interview with Italian super-agent Ernesto Bronzetti. ''Pairing him with Momo Sissoko would be a title-winning midfield'', says the man behind the scenes. Evidently we all missed out on Liverpool's elusive title win when they were playing together at Anfield...

Elsewhere, the current bun have more Liverpool news and slightly more positive (although they've done their best not to be). It's Yossi Benayoun and he's going to get himself a new deal. Not because he's scored some vital goals, not because he's one of the best impact players around at the moment, but because Steven Gerrard has been injured. A little backhanded compliment there for the little Israeli.

More news from a good few months ago from the Daily Express reckons that David Beckham is on his way to AC Milan permanently. Surely not? Remember Tottenham are interested too, so he may yet make his way to the Premier League.

And finally, we have some build up to the big one. Man Utd v Arsenal in the Champions League and it's what every Arsenal fan wants to hear: former Devils Mikael Silvestre telling young players, in the Telegraph, that at United there is “nowhere better for you to go”. Great stuff from Tweety there, just before his new club meet his old club. Here's hoping he doesn't get confused and try and stick it in the wrong net.

Fergie meanwhile is so keen to show everyone that his side play lovely attacking football (and wake them all up after the Nou Camp debacle) that he's ready to unleash Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez from the start. Perhaps with Federico Macheda, Ryan Giggs and Danny Welbeck supporting?
