The Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga just won't go away, but the Sunday newspapers have added a new twist to the story: Kaka will be heading to Old Trafford to replace him.
According to the News of the World United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will put a spectacular £70million replacement plan in place when - not if - Ronaldo demands a summer move to Real Madrid.
United would use the expected world record fee for their Portuguese winger to sign AC Milan playmaker Kaka, along with Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery.
However, the Sunday Express disagree and report that Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed further Spanish talk of Ronaldo moving there in the summer as nonsense. The Reds boss also labelled former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon "a dinosaur".
The transfer speculation continues in the Sunday People, with claims that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is weighing up a £9million move for out-of-favour Liverpool winger Ryan Babel.
Babel, who joined Liverpool from Ajax for £11.5m in 2007, had a bust- up with Reds boss Rafa Benitez before last weekend's Premier League clash with Blackburn Rovers and the 22-year-old is keen on a move to the Emirates.
Contrary to Saturday's reports that Kenny Dalglish was off to Newcastle United the Sunday Telegraph claim the Kop legend is heading back to Anfield as Liverpool step up their efforts to end their 19-year wait for a league title.
Dalglish has already been in talks with Rafael Benitez to discuss returning to Merseyside to play a central part in the Spaniard's backroom staff.
The Sunday Mirror also report that former Liverpool manager is heading back to his old club to help with youth development, but will also enable Benitez to tap into his vast experience.
Just as the legendary Bob Paisley offered Dalglish support during the Scotsman's early days as boss, Liverpool's greatest player will be around to advise Benitez.
And finally... the Mail on Sunday claim West Ham United have two potential bidders ready to mount an £80million takeover deal in the wake of the financial meltdown of Icelandic owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson.

landing the world player at the spanish capital is a good news for the team, and a welcome development for the club and it fans.

Impossible...
I would only take Messi and Kaka though =X

If C.Ronaldo was to move to R.Madrid, I think United should let him go. He has been absolutely fantastic since his arrival to United. We have to say that he has done so much to United. Replacing him by Kaka is not a bad idea, but I think F.Ribery will be much his replacement. So, I think United will be even stronger if Kaka and Ribery come to Old Trafford.

Reckon this is another rumour about ROnaldo as the end of season is approaching. I thought as far as AC Milan is concerned, Kaka is a non-sellable items, similar to Ronaldo... Anyway, I suggest before Fergie's retire, perhaps he could consider to help MU to raise enough $$ through the sale of Ronaldo (100-120M pounds)to Real Madrid, provided they are still interested. Then use that money to find a better replacements or develop the new potential youth recruits.

yeah...looking good...but its doesn't matter because every single step man utd buy da player... fergie hav their own reason n plan... for me..it too sad if ronaldo leave man utd..but it not possible....sir...try to keep it with ronaldo and you just buy da kaka......

it sounds rediculous, kaka, ribery for old traford. can real afford to pay such amount of money for ronaldo who play this days as if he is the originator of football, you touch his shirt he will fall down and in most cases he refuse to stand up.that young man has forgoting that football is a contact sport.
 |
Posted by Jeremy on 04/19/2009
This is all rubbish!! both ronaldo and kaka have lowered their quality this season and Ribery is hugely overrated.

As a die hard United supporter I feel I speak on behalf of many when I say let Ronaldo go for good business sense. At 70m GBP he could be replaced with two not one great playmakers and Ribery and Kaka sound like excellent options. If not this pair there will be others. Ronaldo is a great player but does not equate to the pairing suggested.

Real Madrid should leave CR7(Ronaldo) alone. He is not for sale.He is happy in Manchester United.

I think it will be great to have kaka and ribery but i will no be great losing planeta de Ronaldo
i think united should instead go for defensive replacements, from right fullback to left fullback.

The clubs which have "money" to buy players, will dominate the game. I want to see the players from their college.

I don't think Sir Alex Ferguson is willing to lose a player that he has nurtured for the past five years to Real Madrid.
Ronaldo would not want to go to Real Madrid at this moment because Raul is the king of Real and he refused to give the number 7 shirt to David Beckham before and Ronaldo doesn't have the chance to be the king or get the number 7. Real is not stable at the moment, Ramos is a temporary manager and they don't know who is next.
Kaka has refused to go to Manchester City and I think he wants to stay in Milan for a while.
Ribery will go to Juventus or Barcelona.

i think Manchester United should focusing to develope their own player from their own academy rather than just 'stealing' big superstar from other club

I believe it is a great thing to do, to replace C.Ronaldo and bring Kaka and Ribery to Old Trafford. Personally, I felt that he is over-hyped. No doubt he scored amazing goals but it doesn't give him the right to act like a God. Kaka and Ribery will make Man Utd invinsible.
 |
Posted by olobayo on 04/19/2009
well ronaldo is no doubt a fantastic player. he is part of the round leather wen playing but the truth is if he wants to go he should be allowed to leave. he has won everything. people left before him and man utd still wins trophies and discover talents.up utd.
 |

Ronaldo is a good player but not with the quality they descibe him, selling him to madrid will do united good else he will be worth less than $40m by next season. Ribery will be a perfect replacement
 |
Posted by Ezee on 04/19/2009
I feel that if Ronaldo is indulging in himself too much. Remember how the past greats, Ince, Kanchelskis, Stam, Beckham Van Nistelrooy, had been kicked out? If and when Ferguson feels that Ronaldo is getting too big in his head, Rpnaldo will similarly be kicked out. No single player is bigger than Man Utd
 |
Posted by nicholas on 04/19/2009
Cr7 is a great player, no doubt, but a little over rated. kaka and ribery?! Man utd should sell. these two can replace the legendary giggs and scholes.
 |
Posted by Raymond Ho on 04/19/2009
To Sir Ferguson style, I don't he will bring in Kaka. At most, he will take Ribery if C. Ronaldo does leave Man Utd.
 |
Posted by Aresenal Fan on 04/19/2009
you all are saying how Man Utd needs to develop their players that they have inside their club but you fail to realize that they groomed C. Ronaldo since he was like 16 or 17. Ronaldo is ebviously a great player, however he is disposable especially for Kaka and Ribery. I dont know much about Serie A ir AC Milan in regards to them giving up Kaka. But if they could pull it off i thiink it would be a great move to ensure Man Utd as being the top club in the world. Ribery would replace him on the right wing and up and coming nani and giggs would share time at left wing for the time being. Kaka would play an attacking center midfield role, and Rooney, Tevez, and Berbatov could share the 2 striker openings. As for Ronaldo not accepting not getting #7, thats a load of crap. Ronaldo obviously doesnt seem to mind it that much as he wears #17 when he plays internationally for Portugal.

I think it will be a good choice to let Ronaldo go....Kaka and ribery will be a good pair for replacing him

united has changed since ronaldo came,n it will surely be anozer look of united if our ronaldo leave..bt bringing kaka n ribery in united will be having 2 ronaldo instead of one..

Real Should get CR7 and Benzema then Raul should retire and give CR7 the shirt so that the shirt no. is given to another world class player in CR7. No matter the cost real should pay 4 these young tallents if not CR7 then Asley Young he is also very good.
 |

Liverpool Fan
I do not want to see Ryan Babel go. I think he is one of the best buys we've had. He is talented and is still young. And he is right to complain about warming the bench most of the time. Rafa should use him more...he would be a great support to Gerard and Torres, and as well alternating with the wingers. No, the coach should not sale him at any cost!
 |
Posted by Kaisari on 04/19/2009
I believe Kaka and Ribery will rediscover their forms at The Theatre of Dreams. United should go ahead with the deal. Let Ronaldo go since he has done enough for Man Utd, and probably running out of gas. Man Utd will always be the greatest team ever created by a human being.
 |
Posted by Zubb on 04/19/2009
if ronaldo go to madrid n kaka goes to manchester, how bout milan?they doesn't have the playmaker...i've also heard that milan bid for gerrard..but i disagree with it
 |
Posted by Devils prada on 04/19/2009
Getting Ribery would be a more ideal replacement for Ronaldo as Kaka plays a different position as Ronaldo. Kaka does not play on the wings. They have more than enough central midfielders.
 |
Posted by Anonymous on 04/19/2009
The time is right to let Ronaldo go. If Man Utd don't sign an extended contract we will had let the record transfer fee slip and Real Madrid would get Ronaldo for free next season. I don't think it would be hard to replace Ronaldo with the depth of talent out there. Young talent like Macheda for the WIN!!
 |
Posted by peter on 04/19/2009
CR7 is indeed a great player....but if you can get Kaka and Ribery in exchange you do it. Why? It is a team game..simple as that. Yes neither Kaka nor Ribery are as talented as CR7 ( Although I must say that when kaka is 100% healthy he is comparable in a different way). So 2 is better than one, and these two would certainly make MU a better team.

Kaka combined with Ribery is a better option to Ronaldo to have that Ronaldo.
Pets face it, Ronaldo has peaked.
ManU should make the most $$$ out of him while they can

Kaka is another player in AC Milan which I admire. Please do not go to Man Utd.

Posted by ace on 04/19/2009
For me,its just too tempting to imagine Robben and Cristiano playing together, dribbling the full backs, swapping flanks. Both of them are a fast winger, got good technique and this will definitely make Real a fearsome strike force.
Although it sounds technically impossible now.

Ronaldo has been slipping up since last yr, his goal against Porto was phenominal but I think it is time he left for another club, Kaka would be a great fit for our aging Scholes n Ribery is a good enough player to replace Ronaldo. But our white Pele, Rooney, isn't going anywhere tho

Buying Liverpool's R. Babel will be the best decision A.Wenger will make next season . He also needs an additional kolo Toure like player as a defensive midfielder .

obsolutely no dout ronaldo is afantastic player.and i belive replacing him with ribery could be good replacement.if a player himself wants to go they should let him go above all he has done grt and will de remembered as a grt United hero.

i think man utd shld sell cr7 and Berbatov
man utd has one of the best midfielders in epl
therefore, man utd shld get better strikers
instead of buyin ribery , man utd shld consider buying spanish players .
BuYiNg kaka is not a bad idea afterall ..milan
won't let him go so easily even if kaka agrees.

Milan cannot afford to let Kaka go, he is a much better player in Milan than he will be anywhere else, Kaka will not leave Milan under any circumstance right now and his declining of Man City's bid for him is reason. That being said Man U can pick up Ribery and another quality player for less than 70m and keep money for other things

Will you people please check the source before putting any credence to rumour! The News of the World is the same rag that immortalized news stands with the headline "B52 Bomber Found On Moon". I wish the author of this blog would wisely ignore the "fiction papers".
From far more reliable sources: Ronaldo is happy to remain at Old Trafford next season. Ribery wants to remain at Bayern because there is "much to do". Kaka has stated that he wants to grow old and die playing for AC Milan. SAF would not sell a virus to Real Madrid. Facts.

from the article, i see the Babel and Ribery speculation possible. But Ribery to Man Utd? not likely as Ronaldo is still there and RM won't be able to snatch him away just yet. Maybe Juventus will be the destination for Ribery at the moment as Nedved is retiring. Babel will try to leave the Kops but I dont know if it will be for the Emirates or other European heavyweights like Inter, Milan, Bayern. Maybe Ribery will leave and Babel will come to the Allianz Arena. Who knows? By September, we will all know the answer :D

im not fans of manchester united but i luv football and im big fans of barcelona club my opinion if ronaldo decide to go madrid just for a money its ok but if to play football n be star like where he was now just forget it he cant cope with the way madrid play n thats is the club many stars pass it will be only fews week to wellcome him n then the will treat him like other players not star like manchester ur so young ronald be there where u be now .wish to meet mancerster in champions league final in roma.

its gud dat c.ronaldo the ghost is playing well and helping us win silver but if he wants to go we have to be man enough and let him so that gergie can develop other players before he ritires.we man utd fans hail ronaldo cos he ie winning things for us............if he want to go let him go kaka and man utd i can only imagine the combination of kaka, rooney, giggs ,carrick, tevez and vidic, evra, rio at the back man utd will be untshawable

if you say Ronaldo leaves Man Utd for Real Madrid end of this season, there is a possibility of it happening. but if you say Kaka is coming in with Franck Ribery, then i must say you can dream on! Kaka, to start off with, is too good for Old Trafford and i don't believe he fancies a move to Man Utd when he's already having the best quality football at Milan! Ribery, on the other hand, is a known admirer of Barcelona FC and will do anything for a chance to switch to the Catalans than coming to play at Old Trafford at all.

How about keeping Ronaldo and buying Kaka and Franck Ribery.
Now that would be scary ;-)

C. Ronald is a fantastic player and if he wants to leave man utd then Fergie should let him go and replace him with KAKA coz at the moment KAKA is his only replacement. We as Man Utd fans should not forget that Ronaldo has really helped Man Utd lift trophies. Great players have left Man Utd but the club is still winning the trophies.
 |
Posted by Max on 04/20/2009
I think MU must keep Ronaldo and try to bid Lionell messi for Berbatov replacement or let go Ronaldo and get Ribery and Messi.

Really c ronaldo is a great player but alex f. should replace him with ribbery that is if loves coming to olt traford.kaka is growing older so he may not be important for the club.but alex shd accept that amt for c ronaldo.

i think ronaldo would stay even though he's such a softie this season but he's still amazing. tevez should go instead his first touches and falling all the time, makes me feel like i could be playing there. oh my. really looking forward to who would be in the team next season. cheers!

man utd without c.ronaldo will be better..see those previous matches that man utd without ronaldo, score higher than the matches that with ronaldo..kaka and ribery can be a good try for man utd,but whether success or not, still long to go..MAN UTD GLORY!!!
