On Saturday the big story doing the rounds in the UK newspapers was Cristiano Ronaldo's £75m summer move from Manchester United to Real Madrid and the Sunday's are full of talk of his replacement.
The News of the World claim United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will make a move for Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery and is set to beat Barcelona to the Frenchman's signature.
Apparently "sources" at the Nou Camp are convinced Ribery is heading for Old Trafford, suggesting that United are well advanced with preparations for life without Ronaldo.
The Daily Star Sunday agree that United will raid the Bundesliga for a summer signing but insist that will be Wolfsburg's Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko and not Ribery.
The £12million target is currently the top European scorer in the World Cup qualifying campaign, with seven goals for Bosnia-Herzegovina, and will replace Carlos Tevez.
If Barcelona do miss out on Ribery they won't be too bothered as they are set to launch a £15million move for Arsenal's Robin van Persie, according to The People.
The Gunners' hitman is stalling on a new three-year deal and the Spanish giants are keen to sign the Dutchman, who is frustrated at winning only an FA Cup since joining in 2004.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is ready to double Van Persie's wage to £70,000 a week but Barca feel they can lure him in the summer.
The transfer tittle tattle continues in the Mail On Sunday, which claims that Manchester City will establish their reputation as a club with serious ambitions by making Samuel Eto'o one of their main summer buys for £20million.
The 28-year-old Cameroon striker has an uncertain future at Barcelona because of his wage demands and a highly publicised rift with coach Pep Guardiola and City are willing to meet his £120,000-a-week demands.
Meanwhile, the Sunday Express report that Liverpool are edging closer to a £450million Middle East takeover which would give manager Rafael Benitez more spending power in the transfer market.
Takeover talks are believed to be at an advanced stage between Liverpool's American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett and Nasser Al Kharafi - head of a mega-rich Kuwait family who are worth nine billion pounds.
And finally... In The Observer Sir Alex Ferguson denied as "absolute nonsense" allegations of a training-ground bust-up between himself and Wayne Rooney and has poured scorn on reports that this may have led to the striker being benched for Manchester United's game against Fulham two weeks ago.

Ronaldo, this season, haven't really showed his capability, so that's why, he should leave Manchester United. I think that Ribery is way better than Ronaldo, cause he is more consistent.

ribery will not join man utd, ribery will head to barcelona and hleb the other way to bayern in a swap deal. United will get falcao of river plate to replace tevez. Nani will go to bayern ad schweinstiger will go the other way to united.

good day. i really enjoin the website, it has been a reliable source of info in d last 8 years. i really feel cristiano rolando should have left d club prior 2 d current season. no offence d player has done well 4 united but think it is best 2 leave when d ovation is loudest. moreso i feel united are risking losing tevez because of berbatov , who shoul;d not have joined d club in d first place.

if Ribery comes to united and Cristiano goes to Madrid I think is a good switch, and I expect it to happen because life is all about changes.

i think fergie should land the french striker Ribery cos he has all the quality for the Man utd players.
I personally think that David Moyes fits to replace Sir ALEX after the retirement.Moorinho has good influence to the players but he lack advanced enough technics once players are confused with defeat.

.......And Chelsea just want to know if anyone will buy Florent Malouda.

I think Ribery will be a much better player for Manchester United than for Barca. The German League is more alike with the Premiership than the then La Liga.

well firstly Tevz should not leave manchester united. he is a very good striker and more so he is a better striker than berbatov. secondly, ribery coming to manchester united is good but will he have the same effect that cristiano renaldo had on the team. sir Alex need to give careful thought to this move and don't be a fool.

If Ribery ends up wearing Devil Red, it might be time to do myself in. I could at least accept a move to Barca. And if the Gunners were to lose Van Persie, who is by no means indispensable himself, it would be a double blow.

I think sir Alex Ferguson should off load him self off with Carlos Tervez becouse Ronaldo's game is getting better day by day,and he still has alot to offer at oldtraford,as ihave said Ferguson is building his dream team and ibelive Ronaldo should be considerd on that team that will rule the next generation.

For Man Utd to sing Edin Dzeko the Bosnia-Herzegovina top stirker would be the best thing United could do this summer to replace Carlos Tavez. But for Ribery to replace Ronaldo, something tell's me it's not going to work.

pls fergie dont allow C Ronaldo to go instead buy Ribery and combine two of them cos both of them is important to us.

whao, great comments and it's also a great season in terms of football across the globe. well. i want chelsea to grab david villa from valencia, man-utd can sign ribbery should real madrid sign ronaldo. i'm happy chelsea could beat liverpool cos liverpool had beaten them twice dis season so it's good, but chelsea should off-load anelka and get david villa by all means, i read valencia will sell hi 45,000pounds and chelsea already prepare 40,000pounds, so they should try and get him to boost their attack. lastly, malouda also should be sold and chelsea should get a good left winger.. tanx

I think Ribery will stay in German or go to Juventus or Barcelona. Ribery is a playmaker like Zidane, Juventus have lost their "invincible" status since Zidane left. They would like to rebuild their team to challenge Inter next season. Barcelona have produced few Spanish stars lately, they would like to give their youngster a chance since Pep Guardiola managed their reserve team before. Even Real Madrid think that Barca have better Spanish young players than them. Barca are in a good form right now, they won't spend millions to get Ribery in the current financial crisis. Mr Laporta won't sign anyone unless they lose Thierry Henry to Man City.
Man Utd do not need Ribery.

as an ambitious person, ronaldo should stay in MU because real madrid really cannot provide any title for the club. and MU are in their strongest form.
ribery is a fantastic addition, because it's no real massive attacker in central midfield. he also can play in wherever area in midfield too
anderson still can't show his contribution enough, same as nani does. fletcher sometimes is a bad choices. hargreaves in a long term injuries that worries MU. scholes and giggs are too old now..
carrick is the only best player in central midfield with his brilliant vision, accurate passing, and cute face too.. :)
si it's make sense if we welcome ribery at old trafford this summer
God Bless Football
