Paper Round

Manchester United seem ready to enter the transfer market again with the sniff of silverware still wafting under their noses. And again it seems Fergie may be going after the young guns rather than splashing out on the established names.

But first of all The Daily Mail is warning United of interest in Nemanja Vidic from Italian side AC Milan. Could they prise him away from Old Trafford for a mere £20m? We think they've no chance in the world. There's more chance of Manchester City signing Kaka... And Milan also want Jonny Evans too for £10m!

The Independent carries the story too, giving it added weight, though they claim the combined fee would be £35m. We still think it's a load of rubbish!

After the successful signings of Rafael and Fabio from Brazil 12 months ago he's tipped to dip into South America once more. The Daily Mirror thinks the Red Devils will be in for Walter Henrique Da Silva who plays for Brazil's Sport Club Internacional. The 19-year-old could cost around £5m.

Another piece of transfer talk and it may come as a shock to the whole world that Juan Roman Riquelme actually turned down a proposed move to Newcastle United. Who'd have thought it?! Seemingly the troubled Magpies could not tempt him away from Boca Juniors, that's in The Daily Mirror.

Now some may think that Cristiano Ronaldo is doing just fine without some help from the Fastest Man on Earth, one Usain Bolt. But good old CR7 appears to have enlisted the sprinter to help him get a bit quicker, that's what The Sun says.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez may have decided he needs a second pair of hands again to handle all that pointless rotating. And he wants Ant McPartland in alongside him. Sorry! Got that wrong. It's not he of the large forehead from Byker Grove, but Frank McParland. He used to be at Anfield before leaving for Bolton, then Watford, and could now be back as a Director of Football. So says The Daily Mirror.

Shock horror! The Kuwait-based takeover of Liverpool is collapsing, just as expected. Now they are fighting between themselves. But surely this is perfect for Anfield? It's in The Independent.

David Beckham may be desperately trying to escape from Major League Soccer, even if he is destined to be back in the white of LA Galaxy come mid-July, but he still seems to have a long-term goal. According to The Sun, Becks is planning to pump money into an MLS team once he hangs up his boots. We wonder if he'll pull out and buy an Italian club after 18 months...

And last but not least, who says a bit of a scrap isn't good for team morale? It seems Oldham manager John Sheridan and jail-bird striker Lee Hughes have had a bit of a fight while out on the ale in Manchester. Football's going to the dogs... read The Daily Mail.

Riquelme not wanting to move to the disaster that is Newcastle....what a freaking shock. If that surprises anyone they certainly do not have all their marbles.
