Paper Round
Posted by Dale Johnson on 03/29/2009

Welcome to another exciting instalment of the ESPN Soccernet Paper Round. Remember on Saturday when I revealed that Cesc Fabregas' padre claimed he was flattered with links to Barcelona and Real Madrid? Well the press have picked that up and run with it. And jumped a few hurdles too!

The News of the World, the home of your Sunday roast football gossip, has the EXCLUSIVE that the player has not ruled out a move to one of Spain's two traditional giants. Fab can buy himself out of his contract in January. Surely that's not what Fab is about, though? The club captain?

The News of the World must be getting fuel from another of its stories, with one of those pesky "insiders" claiming other Arsenal players think Cesc is arrogant and a bit of a big head.

The Mail on Sunday also goes with Fab to Real Madrid.

If Fab is out, then the News of the World thinks Julian Lescott will be in. Yes, we know his name is Joleon but this is funnier. Wenger to pay around £10m for an Englishman? We all know what happened last time, Franny.

Now, I don't really want to pay this story lip service but, sadly, it is in the News of the World. Two words: Ronaldo, Real.

The Mail on Sunday is tipping Chelsea to launch a £15m bid for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young (they'll need more than that) and Man City's Daniel Sturridge. Why would they want Sturridge? Why? Hmm?

This is a bit boring, but we think it sums up Newcastle who, along with WBA, could really pay £1m for Swidon's Simon Cox as he battles to stay in League One. It's in the News of the World. And the same paper suggests a £6m move for Spurs' Tom Huddlestone if the Magpies stay up.

However, if Newcastle do go down (at lets be honest they're not "too good to") it seems their value will be slashed in half, says the Sunday Express. Poor old Magic Mike.

Cesc is definitely staying... the future at Arsenal is so bright. RVP can go to Barca if he wants... he should learn a thing or two from Hleb.
