David Beckham is desperate for it to happen. In fact, most LA Galaxy fans are praying the deal goes through too. But there is the danger of an impasse between Milan and the MLS side over a transfer fee,
It's believed that Milan had a bid of £6.7m rejected over the weekend and Galaxy are looking for £15m. Quite a fee for a player who will be 34 before too long.
However, The Daily Mirror doesn't think that will put off the Italian giants. They'll probably make that from shirt sales on their wonderfully timed tour of Asia in the summer.
Will Beckham be back in the white of Galaxy at the end of March? I wouldn't bet on it.
Meanwhile, the inevitable has happened down at Portsmouth as the management game's dourest figure, Tony Adams, has walked the plank on the south coast. Two wins in 16 games tells its own story and now they'll look for that instant impact of a new man.
But who could the Fratton Park boys turn to, pray tell? Yes, it's out of the frying pan and into the fire with Avram Grump! It loks like they could have someone with even less personality than our Tone. (Caprice... really, he did)
Most of the press go with Grump, the man with a better record at Cheslea than Mourinho (ahem, minus the trophies). However, a couple of other names come from The Daily Mail. Alan Curbishley as good as admitted his interest on TV on Sunday night. But could Sven Goran Eriksson run away from his horrendous record as Mexico boss to return to England?
Remember Andriy Voronin? No, me neither. Apparently he used to play for Liverpool. And he's told The Sun he can be the man to replace Robbie Keane. Pigs. Fly. Oh, then again this is Rafa.
Perhaps the best story of the day can be found in The Daily Mirror thanks to referee Steve Bennett. He's said that players are asking to be booked so they can get suspended and go on holiday! It's a genius plan, and sadly there's no yellow cards on offer at Soccernet Towers.
What about the transfer talk? Nothing huge with regards to the big clubs, but Wigan could make a raid on Championship high-flyers Wolves and their former Grays forward Michael Kightly. The England Under-21 international could mke the move for £5m, says The Daily Mirror.
Swindon Town right-back Nathan Thompson is being tipped as hot, hot property. The Daily Mirror reports that Spurs, Everton and Newcastle are all tracking his progress.

Beckham will end up at Milan. Other than the fact that Milan seem to be intent on collecting old players that are past their best, Beckham seems to be assured a starting spot. I also believe Beckham will spend some of his money so that the 15 million demanded by Galaxy are matched.
Avram Grant at Portsmouth doesn't sound like such a bad deal. For Avram that is. He'll work under less pressure than at Chelsea, and Mourinho's shadow won't be hovering around him. Besides, he won't be needing the trophies as Pompey are not expected to win many titles throughout the year.
But the more interesting story is who will replace Scolari as Chelsea manager? I wouldn't bet against Erikson leaving Mexico for that job.
Voronin is a decent squad player. Since Keane was deemed to be a squad player at Liverpool, then Voronin is probably the best of replacements.
