Paper Round
Posted by Jon Carter on 02/20/2009

All it takes these days is a special goal, one moment of magic, and suddenly everyone is talking about you. Evidently quite a few people were watching CSKA Moscow draw with Aston Villa in the UEFA Cup this week as the colourful Vagner Love has been attracting some attention.

Everton boss David Moyes will claim the Brazilian has been on his radar for ages (in fact he was at Villa Park on Wednesday to watch him), and will be even more keen to seal a deal for the dreadlocked hitman, say the Sun, although he might have to beat off Man City with a large stick.

The paper also thinks that Love would actually prefer to move to Eastlands (although he may want to get some advice from fellow countryman Jo first), but only if Luiz Felipe Scolari arrives to add another sprinkling of Brazilian magic to the side.

While one South American seems keen to join the Premier League, the Daily Star report that another, Carlos Tevez, is on his way to Serie A.

If the Italians can stump up £30m then they'll get the Argentine and get him to form a pretty decent partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimović, making Diego Maradona a very happy man. United have apparently failed to take up their option on the striker, but the player himself is waiting for everyone (including Real Madrid) to show their hand and actually come up with an offer.

Not to be outdone, Arsenal and Chelsea are tracking 18-year-old Bordeaux striker Henri Saviet according to the Daily Mirror.

Now, not to belittle Chelsea's academy system that has seen them blood just John Terry in the last decade, or the fact that the Blues seem unwilling to upset the egos in the dressing room by playing kids; but Saviet seems to have a pretty easy choice ahead of him. The only thing he has to consider is if he wants to play alongside Nicklas Bendtner.

The Mirror also believe that AC Milan are ''confident'' over sealing a deal for David Beckham. Confident?? The player has said he wants to go, the club have said they want him, and even L.A. Galaxy will listen to offers for him. We all know it's a question of when, not if, but everyone is still a tad confused as to why it's all taking so long. Maybe they still have to persuade Vicky.

In other transfer related news, Wigan have decided to avoid the next Honduran superstar and have instead gone to Asia for their latest recruit. South Korean midfielder Won Hee Cho should arrive soon, say the Daily Star, after the 25-year-old did well during a trial spell.

While Sheffield United also want to re-sign Michael Tonge. The midfielder has been a ghost since his £2m move to Stoke and seeing as he can't lump in a good long throw, looks set to return to Bramall Lane in the near future.

And finally, the Daily Express carry the amusing news that new Arsenal signing Andrei Arshavin is going to fly over his hairdresser because he doesn't trust British ones to do it right. Judging by the fact that Arsenal's last Eastern European import, Alexander Hleb, looked like he did it himself; perhaps Andrei could save a few bucks on air fares and just get the clippers out.
