23.45 BST MAJOR BREAKING TRANSFER NEWS: The Olympics has moved from London to Rio. For quite a lot of money. Thank you and goodnight.

23.01 BST Victor Moses' agent has scotched reports of an agreed deal between Chelsea and the Wigan attacker. "Reports that a £9m deal has been agreed between Chelsea and Wigan are not true," Neil Fewings told Sky Sports.

22.45 BST Reports about Pep Guardiola looking for a house at Lake Como in Italy suggest perhaps he is targeting a move to Italy? Or just a nice house?

22.19 BST West Ham have been linked with a move for Sevilla's Argentine defender Federico Fazio in the Spanish press.

21.55 BST Ajax's Vurnon Anita on a move to Newcastle: "The clubs have agreed a fee [€8.5m], but I have not. I'm still an Ajax player. I think it will be finished soon, but you never know how it will go."

21.20 BST Rodders you plonker (one for our international audience there). Jack Rodwell has only gone and joined Man City for around £12 million on a five-year deal. But will he play? Read more

20.51 BST Corriere dello Sport report that Roma are in negotiations to sign 18-year-old defender Marquinhos from Corinthians. Does that mean the end for Philippe Mexes, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal?

20.03 BST Mexico's Olympic hero Oribe Peralta has declared his desire to follow Manchester United star Javier Hernandez into English football. "Yes, of course I'd love to come and play here," he said. "It would be a challenge and it would be really great for me."

19.38 BST One for the rumour mill. A Polish commentator has claimed that his sources from Dortmund say there's a €30m bid from Man Utd being discussed for Robert Lewandowski.

19.01 BST Heerenveen coach Marco van Basten wants some new additions, saying: “I'd like to bring in some reinforcements, but it will not be easy to make that happen."

18.20 BST It's the latest craze: Italian Serie A players leaving for France. And Adrian Mutu could be the latest after Ajaccio expressed an interest in acquiring the forward, according to L'Equipe.

17.54 BST Roberto Mancini is not done yet and there will be more transfers to come. He said after the Community Shield win over Chelsea: "We are looking for other players. I don't know which players. I don't want to say which. Speak with Brian Marwood (sporting director)."

17.46 BST We mentioned earlier that Fernando Llorente looks to be on his way out of Athletic Bilbao and El Correo is tipping Juventus to land the Spain striker.

17.27 BST Football Italia reckon they've put two and two together and made four - suggesting that Jack Rodwell's move to Everton means Nigel De Jong is on his way to Inter Milan.

17.04 BST Having once called El-Hadji Diouf a "sewer rat", it was a tad surprising to see Neil Warnock sign the former Liverpool winger for Leeds. But Warnock has defended the move, saying: "I met him about six or seven weeks ago... we ended up having an hour-and-a-half chat and I told him what I disliked about him and he talked to me about the things that he's done in football.

"It opened my eyes in what I thought about him and nobody has said worse things about him than I have. It would have been easy for me not to bring him to the club but I've never been one to shirk a situation. A friend of mine, Micky Walker, who was at Doncaster Rovers, couldn't speak highly enough of him. He said he's good in the dressing room, he's excellent with the youngsters, and is a bit of a likeable rogue.

16.43 BST Not quite transfer gossip but a cracking story nonetheless - Usain Bolt thinks Cristiano Ronaldo is better than Lionel Messi. Discuss.

16.26 BST Roberto Mancini on Manchester City's imminent signing of Jack Rodwell: "We consider Jack Rodwell to be a good, young player. He will be an important midfielder for the England national team and for us. We need someone who wants to win, is good tacticall and is a good player for the future."

16.01 BST Saint Etienne are believed to have landed former Marseille striker Brandao.

15.38 BST Could Napoli be ready to sell Edinson Cavani. CalcioMercato reckons Chelsea will try to tempt them with a big cash-plus-player offer, with Raul Meireles tipped to be the man used as bait.

15.20 BST AC Milan want to sign Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin according to Tuttosport.

14.44 BST Newcastle United have agreed a fee for long term target Vurnon Anita- according to reports in the Netherlands.

14.13 BST DONE DEAL Motherwell have signed promising young Birmingham defender Fraser Kerr on a six-month loan deal.

13.47 BST Former West Ham and Fulham defender John Paintsil is set to finalise a move to Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv today.

13.30 BST Manchester City and Chelsea have just kicked off in this season's Community Shield. You can follow all the action live with Chris Murphy HERE.

13.14 BST The Rodwell move appears to have taken you as much by surprise as it has us. Reader Tamu is unimpressed by the signing, however:

"Come.on. Man City is signing Rodwell. Really? Why? So he can sit on the bench and ruin his England career? Are they selling De Jong? Toure? Surely Tevez will play behind Balo or Aguero and Dzeko leaving the six world-class midfielders to fill 3-4 spots....and that doesn't include Rodwell."

13.06 BST Although Barca players have thus far restrained themselves from using the phrase "Barcelona DNA", their collective talking up of Alex Song's abilities is getting a bit ridiculous. The latest offering is from Gerard Pique: "He is physically very strong and is good with the ball at his feet. We are open to his arrival. If he comes, and from what I have read he could do, we would love to have him."

12.49 BST The Metro reckons that Liverpool will sign Tottenham's Michael Dawson as a replacement for Man City-bound Daniel Agger.

12.33 BST BREAKING: Everton have confirmed they have accepted a bid from Manchester City for 21-year-old midfielder Jack Rodwell.

12.18 BST Stephen Warnock's Aston Villa future appears in doubt after he was omitted from the club's pre-season trip to Germany.

12.05 BST You can add your comments on all transfer dealings and rumours using the tool below. Reader Vincent has been having his say on Manchester United:

"As we have lost Lucas Moura to PSG, i hope Sir Alex tries to advise David Gill to release money to buy RVP. If it's possible we should also go for Joao Moutinho."

11.46 BST Rennes chairman Frederic de Saint-Sernin has confirmed club have received an offer for Yann M'Vila but refused to reveal the identity of the club. Saint-Sernin told Canal+ "He has a very concrete offer from England,"

11.19 BST Sir Alex Ferguson missed Manchester United's pre-season friendly with Hannover on Saturday as he steps up his efforts to sign Robin van Persie. FULL STORY HERE

11.00 BST In Spain. AS is reporting that Fernando Llorente is continuing to stall over Athletic Bilbao's offer of a new contract. The striker has a 36 million euro buyout clause but if he refuses to pen a new deal Athletic may have to let him go for less.

10.46 BST Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy insists he still wants to leave the Stade Metropole despite the club stating that he won't be sold. He said: "I heard what the
chairman said. The transfer window is open until September 4 (in France). I still want to go. We will see.''

10.28 BST Over to France now, where Marseille are searching for a defender to step in for Souleymane Diawara - who is out injured until October. L'Equipe reckons that Sevilla centre-back Emir Spahic could be an option, though there are apparently are some concerns about the Bosnia captain's temperament.

10.01 BST Chievo have announced the capture of 16-year-old striker Mehdi Guenouche from French club Nancy.

09.45 BST Time to journey around the European continent now and our first destination is Italy, where Torino have completed the signing of journeyman midfielder Matteo Brighi on a one-year loan from Roma. He started his career with hometown club Rimini and has played for Juventus, Bologna, Parma, Brescia, Roma, Chievo and Atalanta.

09.32 BST The Sunday Telegraph reports that Stoke City and Michael Owen remain a long way from agreeing terms.

09.18 BST Roberto Di Matteo is adamant that Daniel Sturridge won’t be leaving Chelsea, according to talkSPORT.

09.10 BST Time for our daily look at the English press now, and we’ve again needed our magnifying glasses to scour in amongst the Olympic stories, with Mo Farah’s 5000m gold medal occupying all of the back pages this morning.

Sunday Mirror: Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are preparing to enter a bidding war for Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell; Robin van Persie will start the season as an Arsenal player; Emmanuel Adebayor is set to finalise a permanent move to Spurs after Man City agreed to give him a slice of the transfer fee as a pay-off and subsidise his White Hart Lane wages for two years

Sunday People: Clint Dempsey will be frozen out at Fulham after making it clear he wants to leave, with Martin Jol targeting David Ngog, Kieran Richardson and Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes to bolster his squad; William Gallas is on his way out of Tottenham, with QPR his most likely destination.

Mail on Sunday: Sir Alex Ferguson is concerned that Arsene Wenger will stop Robin van Persie from joining Manchester United; Andre Villas-Boas is not concerned about his lack of strikers and will play 19-year-old Harry Kane in the club’s first game of the season; Brendan Rodgers will use Charlie Adam as bait in a bid to lure Clint Dempsey from Fulham; Spurs will turn their attentions to Inter Milan goalkeeper Julio Cesar after missing out on Lyon’s Hugo Lloris.

Metro: Arsenal will join Manchester United in the hunt for highly rated Malaga midfielder Isco – the cash-strapped La Liga club would accept a fee of £8 million for him; Brendan Rodgers wants to bring Theo Walcott to Liverpool to inject some more pace into his squad.

09.05 BST Our picture story (see above) today is Hulk claiming he is ready to leave Porto for English shores. The quotes came through last night after Brazil’s Olympic final defeat but his comments will have angered Porto, as well as leading to fevered speculation about his possible destination. Chelsea are, as always, thought to be leading the race for his signature.

09.00 BST Happy Sunday everyone and welcome to what is always one of our favourite days in On The Move. The Sunday press is usually reserved for some of the most outlandish transfer gossip of the week so expect some left-field rumours today.

I like the the headline, HULK HO-Gone. Anyways I hope Liverpool will sign few more players before new season starts.

Posted by Matt on 08/12/2012

Wow, no mention yet of the Cavani to Chelsea rumours that have been circulating. Seems to be the rumour of the moment.

Posted by Ridwan on 08/12/2012

The Van Persie transfer seems not to end anytime soon.I believe Arsene will hold on to him at least until January.
Chelsea seems to be the likely destination for Hulk.

Posted by Vincent on 08/12/2012

As we have lost Lucas Moura to PSG, i hope Sir Alex tries to advise David Gill to release money to buy RVP. If it's possible we should also go for Joao Moutinho.

Posted by Rickster on 08/12/2012

I'm a Liverpool fan - so far we sold about 8 players and only brought in 2. Who will we sign next ? Dempsey or Ramirez, or maybe loan Sahin?

Posted by Tamu on 08/12/2012

Come.on. Man City is signing Rodwell. Really? Why? So he can sit on the bench and ruin his England career? Are they selling De Jong? Toure? Surely Tevez will play behind Balo or Aguero and Dzeko leaving the six world-class midfielders to fill 3-4 spots....and that doesn't include Rodwell. All this AND Mancini is trying to sandbag his pres-eason.

Posted by Soumya on 08/12/2012

Chelsea should buy Rodwell first rather than Moses and replace Mikel with Rodwell as he is a better DM. And the next target should be Lloremte

Posted by Chigz on 08/12/2012

Whats with Chelsea buying so many attacking midfielders? Honesty 2 Hazards, Marin & Oscar? This is getting to much. Also why is Man City after Agger? They have two perfectly good Center backs. Agger is not a player that should be stuck on the bench. Also what of Milan? Will they bring in another striker as Ibra has gone?

Posted by Tamu on 08/12/2012

Of all the high dollar EPL teams in need of a CDM I would figure SAF would be after Rodwell well before Mancini, but fair play to Man City for going after an English player.

Posted by Neill on 08/12/2012

I do not understand Man United waiting for Van Persie for so long. well first of all Van versie to Man U??? No doubt he is good player but only last season he played without being injured. why can't Man U try to sign Higuain!!!!!!!!!!!! To me Man U will be better of with Higuain though he may cost bit more. Moutinho can be an option in field but if possible Sahin from Madrid

Posted by Lee on 08/12/2012

Song to Barca? AFC is slowly but surely turning into a feeder club.

Posted by Alf from Berlin on 08/12/2012

With the King having ended his career, Gallas possibly on his way out and Verthongen needing time to adapt to the English game, I don't think we can afford to let Daws go. COYS

Posted by Andy W on 08/12/2012

Arsenal's starting XI for their friendly w/ Cologne has Thomas Vermaelen wearing the captains armband, and RVP on the bench. Might be reading into it a little too much, and maybe he'll come on in the second half. Still, if these rumors of Sir Alex getting personally involved are true, it might be something....

Posted by Jon on 08/12/2012

Rodwell going to City would be a huge step back in his career, United would be a great place for him to go seeing as they need a holding midfielder.

Posted by Jeb on 08/12/2012

Personally, I think that Cavani might not be particularly well suited to Chelsea simply because it seems as if they are in the market for a wide forward, and probably one who will do his fair share of defending, hence Schurrle being linked. Any more news about a right back? I've never thought Ivanovic was well suited to the role, and after today I'm more convinced they need one.

Posted by Jon on 08/12/2012

Robin Van Persie came on as a second-half sub and immediately grabbed the captain's armband..surely, he wouldn't do that and then pack up and head to Manchester tomorrow, would he???
