14.42 BST Andre Villas-Boas will reportedly be handed a £70 million transfer kitty when he becomes Tottenham manager and will make a move to poach Daniel Sturridge and Raul Meireles from his former club Chelsea... take that one with a pinch of salt.

14.17 BST Full the full story on Rafael, click THIS.

14.06 BST Some words from Sir Alex Ferguson on that news we just shouted at you just a moment ago: “Rafael is one of the club’s brightest young prospects; he has no fear of playing and has great belief in himself. The boy has developed immensely since joining United, his energy and enthusiasm are a joy to watch. 13.23 BST This, coming up in a moment, will make you LOL...

13.21 BST The croissants are all gone (see 08.00 BST). You ate them all. It's a difficult afternoon ahead. Make it up to us with something jovial in the comments box. If it takes our mind off being mildly hungry, it'll get published.

13.18 BST Some movement of the transfer variety. Journalist Paolo Bandini just fired this out on the Twitter: "Alessandro Nesta has signed for Montreal Impact in MLS, where he joins Marco Di Vaio."

13.12 BST The Daily Mail also claims Liverpool remain keen on Scott Sinclair, who of course worked with new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers at Swansea.

13.05 BST This will come as little surprise, but the Liverpool Echo "understands that there are no plans to replace (Pepe) Reina" with Hugo Lloris.

12.46 BST Quotes from Villa's new man El Ahmadi: "It's nice that I am the manager's first transfer and I am looking forward to doing good things with the team and with the club this year. This club should be competing in the top half of the table and I am looking forward to achieving that with the team. I came to this club and spoke to the people here and they gave me great confidence in what we can do this year, so I have chosen to come."

12.27 BST Dodo! Let's hope the deal doesn't become 'extinct'. Ha!

12.26 BST Corinthians defender Jose Rodolfo Pires "Dodo" is on the verge of completing his transfer to Roma, it says on the news wire. That nickname is ripe for puns, but we shall refrain.

Where next for Mickey?

11.18 BST Porto full-back Alvaro Pereira has confirmed he would welcome a move to Serie A amid reports Napoli are closing in on a deal. For more on this, click here.

11.01 BST A juicy rumour, this - although perhaps utter nonsense. Regardless: Gazzetta dello Sport claims Arsenal have turned down a €10million offer from Juventus for Robin van Persie.

10.51 BST Not a transfer per se, but it's gossip, and here, at this knitting club, we do enjoy a good natter. Hence, let us inform you that the Press Association are reporting Andre Villas-Boas is close to being appointed Tottenham's new manager. He could even be installed as Harry Redknapp's successor within the next 24 hours. It is suggested Villas-Boas is on the brink of signing a four-year contract worth £16 million. Shazam.

10.38 BST Just yesterday it was suggested Filippo Inzaghi could sign for Western Sydney Wanderers FC. Alas, that rumour has been blown out of the water. The remains of the corpse are here.

10.23 BST If only there was a place on the internet where you could view all the completed transfers. Wait, you know where we're going with this? We're that predictable? Damn! A LINK TO DONE DEALS.

10.12 BST L'Equipe says Arsenal are ready to offer €15 million for Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, with Wojciech Sczcesny to be dropped to the bench. Interesting. Perhaps there is no smoke without fire after all.

10.00 BST This way for all the details on Cuellar's move to Sunderland. What a 24 hours for Spain; the European crown, and now Cuellar switching to Wearside. It's the end of days.

09.55 BST At ESPN, we search far and wide for transfer titbits. Example: Denmark winger Michael Krohn-Dehli has been linked with a move away from Brondby after impressing at Euro 2012, and he told his club's official website: "[The tournament] gave me extra experience that will allow me to improve my game. I also showed that I can perform at the highest level."

09.42 BST - DONE DEAL News, glorious, news. Get his down your throat: Sunderland have signed defender Carlos Cuellar on a two-year deal.

09.28 BST Daily Record: That's right, we take you north of the border with the following rumour. 'Celtic have been stung by the news they may have to pay £2.5 million to land Bordeaux ace Michael Ciani.' There's probably a sarcastic comment to be made about the use of 'stung', but that's below us.

09.17 BST Daily Star: Here's one for ya! Fulham want £10 million for Clint Dempsey and Liverpool are tempted. Clint's a decent player, and has pined after a 'bigger' club of late. There's a deal to be done, if a team has the financial grapes, that is.

09.07 BST Daily Express: Gylfi Sigurdsson is to sign for Tottenham after Liverpool baulked (a word only used in football speak) at his wage demands ... Leon Best is set to undergo a medical at Blackburn as he completes a £2 million move from Newcastle. It doesn't get bigger than that.

08.54 BST That Dzagoev story we mentioned earlier, yeah? Well, here's the full thing.

08.48 BST Daily Mirror: 'Think of a number and double it' bellows the tabloid, with regards Wigan's (or 'Wig' in the story's headline) Victor Moses. Liverpool and Chelsea have been told the forward is worth around £12 million. Is he? ... Giovani Dos Santos, who has to date, let's be frank, wasted his career at Tottenham, could move to Malaga for £5 million. Sounds like a good deal for all parties involved, if you ask me, which you haven't. More coffee?

08.36 BST Daily Mail: This newspaper jumps on, and proceeds to give it a good dry humping, yesterday's rumour that emerged from Paris, which we brought you as it broke, that PSG are considering a move for John Terry. £8 million, says the paper ... MEANWHILE (capitals necessary, people), 'Chelsea are lining up a shock swoop for Arsenal's Theo Walcott as the England winger stalls on signing a new deal'. Make of that what you will. ... A more feasible rumour is Chelsea being linked with Inter Milan right back Maicon, who is available for around £6 million.

08.25 BST The Sun: Tottenham are interested in Russia star Alan Dzagoev. The CSKA Moscow attacking midfielder's father, Tariel Dzagoev, said: "I don't know if he will stay at CSKA. There are offers — from Spurs and other foreign clubs. But I tell him not to hurry. Yuri Zhirkov ran off to Chelsea and sat on the bench."

08.14 BST The main transfer-related line this morning? Why, it is Mario Balotelli of course. He's staying at Manchester City, says his agent, who has also valued the striker at £200 million. Read the full story here.

08.00 BST Good morning, y'all. A newspaper round-up coming your way shortly, so pull up a chair, help yourself to coffee, even a croissant, and join us for the second day of the 2012 summer transfer window. Oh, two extra things: the pain au chocolat are not to be touched, but you can have your say on this transfer MERRY-GO-ROUND via the comments section of the blog.

I hope Chelsea sign hulk, he is the ideal player we need in the squad. Chelsea also need to buy a young promising right back, maybe someone like Van der viel and Any news on Where Modric is heading?

Posted by devon on 07/02/2012

Any real news on liverpool?????? and where is sigurdsson heading to? heard he was to choose yesterday

Posted by Grayson on 07/02/2012

'Baulk' is not a term that is exclusive to football. In baseball, a 'balk' occurs when a pitcher fakes a move forward to pitch the ball to the batter and does not follow through (usually trying to throw-out a runner on base).

You are welcome! :)

Posted by tymson on 07/02/2012

Posted by redd1713 on 07/02/2012

good stuff so far. Would love to see Dempsey get a move to Liverpool. As long as he was going to get sufficient playing time. Also would love to see Dos Santos go somewhere that he can actually get in the lineup. Hes always been exciting for the Mexican national team.

Sometimes i look at the transfer gossip in the papers and just feel despair. Even if they do just sit around in the office making it up off the top of their heads they could at least try to make it semi believable. Terry to PSG?? Walcott to Chelsea?? They're almost as clueless as Balotellis Agent.

Posted by devon on 07/02/2012

With response to jason's comment, i think you might be right about Terry to PSG, but Walcott to Chelsea could be on the cards, he is on his contract last year just like RVP, so if RVP could leave, why wont he? its not like he is earning a chunk of salary at Arsenal....

Posted by Alex on 07/02/2012

No word yet from M'Villa on where he's going next? If Lloris & M'Villa does move to Arsenal, this will be the "2nd" French Revolution which AW staged...awesome!!! Hope they can bring glories to the club

Posted by Libapool on 07/02/2012

80% of your updates should only be about Liverpool. Start a new section on Liverpool transfers if you have too. I just want Liverpool to sign someone. Com'on Rodgers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Udi on 07/02/2012

There's absolutely no chance that the RVP rumor is true. Any club that wants him know that Arsenal would be laughing at 10 million offer, no matter the currency, unless it was involved with some players in the deal as well.

blogs.soccernet.com is a one of the more impressive blogs I've seen. Thanks so much for keeping the internet classy for a change. Youve got style, class, bravado. I mean it. Please keep it up because without the internet is definitely lacking in intelligence.

Posted by Nassir Jay on 07/02/2012

Hulk @ Chelsea for £38m? Here we go wit wastage again! Hugo Lloris to bench Sczesny? Hmm, Change definitely is the only constant thing in life!!!! Juve, truly r unserious & insensitive...

Posted by Alfred on 07/02/2012

This Season I really disappointed with the progress of Liverpool FC. If continue like this for sure Liverpool will out of TOP 10 this season. No single player sign by Liverpool and all the player that looking now all is lower class player compare to Newcastle, Tottenham or Everton. Please to have RAFA back !!!!

Posted by Gooner on 07/02/2012

Why would arsenal want to sell walcott because without him the attacking three are all left footed

Posted by Koala on 07/02/2012

I'd be upset to see Dempsey go for only 10 million. Hoping at least 12 - 15 million for the top goalscorer midfielder in the division.

Posted by Brian on 07/02/2012

How is Clint Dempsey a DECENT player? He was only voted fourth best player in the premiere league, which mind you is voted on by the press who in which each reporter get only one vote that means alot of guys and gals out there think hes much better than DECENT.

Posted by Will on 07/11/2012

Any chance Roma will listen to totti's concerns and make some big signings this summer? Enough with $7 million here and there its time to spend the big bucks and buy a star!!

Posted by SMirk on 07/11/2012

any news on james rodriguez? or hazard? Is coutinho looking to stay at inter or make his move to espanyol permanent? The news seems to mostly rotate around the same few players and the various done deals.
