"Why are Chelsea going after Maicon? he is in the twilight of his career, Inter didnt have a great season last year and he's on the wrong side of 30. I really hope this is just merely speculation and instead they sign a better RB in Mathieu Debuchy, or Gregory Van Dier Wiel"

14.02 BST AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani claims the club will not sign any more players this summer. He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "Milan's transfer market is
closed. We have nine midfielders and our market is closed.'' Surely he can't be serious?!

Ruznic told Zurnal24: “I can confirm that Palermo received at least one bid from a Premier League club for Josip. However, President Maurizio Zamparini immediately turned it down. I can’t tell you the name of the team who had a go at signing Ilicic, but they are a medium-to-high club in the Division.”

08.15 BST Time for a scan around Europe now and let's begin in Italy, where Roma have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Dodo from Corinthians.

Next up, it's our customary round-up of the English press, always a cracking source of gossip.

The Sun: AC Milan want Liverpool striker Andy Carroll as Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the son of Milan the Rossoneri owner Silvio, has been acting as a transfer consultant for the club and likes what he sees in the England man...Andre Villas-Boas will spend £20 million on Internacional's highly rated attacking midfielder Oscar... Al-Ain will make Asamoah Gyan’s loan from Sunderland a permanent £7 million deal... Aston Villa are targeting Rennes midfielder Yacine Brahmi.

Daily Mail: Everton are weighing up a move for Wigan striker (and, would you believe it, the Latics all-time leading Premier League goal scorer) Hugo Rodallega, who is out of contract... Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendnter is wanted by Malaga and Galatasaray.

Daily Mirror: Andre Villas-Boas will be given a £50 million transfer war chest by Spurs, which will initially fund moves for Jan Vertonghen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alan Dzagoev and Loic Remy... Sunderland, Stoke and Fulham all want to offer Steven Fletcher a route back into the Premier League from Wolves, though a £10 million fee may be prohibitive... Dimitar Berbatov will stay at Manchester United and then leave the club next summer on a free transfer.

Our lead story above is that Italy's Euro 2012 star Andrea Pirlo is keen for the Azzurr's semi-final hero Mario Balotelli to join him at Juventus. Pirlo said: "Would I take Balotelli to Juventus? Of course I would take him. And I know how to talk to him. We both come from Brescia and when we are in the national team we speak in dialect."" target="_blank">FULL STORY HERE.

Welcome to Day Four of the summer transfer window. Prepare yourselves for another 16 hours of speculative shenanigans and maybe even the odd done deal thrown in too.

What do you think are the odds of Chelsea making a move for Jack Rodwell? And what do you think are the chances that they'll recall Jeffrey Bruma from loan?

Posted by JT on 07/04/2012

Why is it every time a manager is quoted as having praised a players abilities, they are automatically reported as having an intrest in buying them? It just seems like the media are grasping at straws trying to come up with transfer news.

Posted by Rohin_Gunner on 07/04/2012

With Arsenal already having bought Podolski and Giroud, a deal with M'Villa reportedly close ,RVP most probably staying and Wilshire returning from injury, what will be our formation next season?

Posted by donjassy on 07/04/2012

It's all depends on the Chelsea manager..the areas he need players and the very best player suitable for that very area..Jack could be the best replacement for Lampard but with the consistency, attitude in the club and the quality the club have being able to develop over the years will pose a challenge for his services at the bridge..i think Modric will be an ideal replacement for Lampard with Sturridge or Meireles included in a swap!

Posted by James on 07/04/2012

Don't know if it's interesting news on the other side of the world, but it's big news here in Australia. Melbourne Victory signed Marco Flores today - who had an outstanding season in the A-League two years ago with Adelaide United before being persuaded by money to go to Chinese team Henan Jianye FC. He has filled the marquee spot that was vacated by Harry Kewell.

Posted by CardyChelsea on 07/04/2012

Why are Chelsea going after Maicon? he is in the twilight of his career, Inter didnt have a great season last year and he's on the wrong side of 30. I really hope this is just merely speculation and instead they sign a better RB in Mathieu Debuchy, or Gregory Van Dier Wiel

Posted by lansky on 07/04/2012

Schalke snapped up Swiss midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta on a free transfer. could be a good move, he showed he still has something to offer in the friendly against Germany.

Posted by CardyChelsea on 07/04/2012

Chelsea do not need a replacement for Didier Drogba, they already Torres and Sturridge. But if the man I despise Sturridge does leave and I wouldnt mind if he did, then I think we would need an ample replacement. If Di Matteo does play a 4-2-3-1, Marin, Mata, and Hazard all behind Torres would be deadly as El Nino will finally have quick attackers to play the ball infront of him while he makes those instinctive runs. I do think that Chelsea need a new deep-lying playmaker/midfielder. Frank has a season left in him to partner Obi-Mikel in the holding role, but I think Yohan Cabaye would be a great buy for Chelsea. I am a huge fan of Modric but when he played deep for Spurs before Redknapp took charge he looked out of place.

Posted by clyde charles on 07/04/2012

I know liverpool has a million midfielders but i would loan out some of them and bring in a Kaka and Higuain from Real Madrid as a definite statement of intent to push for top four what do you guys think?

Posted by Chigz on 07/04/2012

Heya, any idea on who might be Liverpools transfer targets? They really need more depth in their midfield and i would say another striker. Would not mind seeing Forlan there to be honest just to add a little depth in the squad plus on a free transfer might be a good steal.

I would also like to see them buy some wingers, Sidney Sam from Bayern Leverkusen would be a really good buy.

Posted by johnchelseafan7 on 07/04/2012

I disagree completely with CardyChelsea, obviously maicon would be a great add for the team for RIGHT NOW. They dont need to dish out as much money as they would for Van der Wiel or Debuchy, these guys are in demand while Maicon is experienced and is surely not out of form after Inters thrashing of AC milan. If maicon comes to chelsea do you really think he would be there that long, he's a"just for now guy" and anyways chelsea have an endless pit of money so you shouldnt really care in the frst place...

Posted by Zorawar Singh on 07/04/2012

Why buy Podolski AND Giroud when you're not planning to sell RVP, Arsane Wenger. Shouldn't Arsenal be going after Defenders?

Posted by Josh on 07/04/2012

Spurs signed Gylfi Sigurdsson, does this mean the market is open for Modric? I'd love to have both so we're not running one into the ground, but you have to wonder if this opens the door for Luca to depart.

Posted by Ezenwajiaku nnaemeka ....lag on 07/04/2012

Liverpool's activities in de transfer market is nothin 2 write home about.havin lost out in a battle 2 capture sigurdsson, they had better started tinkin of offloadin carrol.maxi.adams .reina.etc and replacin dem wit one expirenced foreign players

Posted by tony magosi on 07/10/2012

i want van dewiel @chelsea as a rite back n buying a new stricker would be a cherry on top but i knw we will be ready to compete come this season

Wow i am a Manchester United Good Fans and i do love Manchester to sign Cavani and Balotelli and Modric ok

Posted by Shariff S. Mapituli on 07/13/2012

I still believe that if ManU can have players of likes of Luca Modric,Wesley Synaider and Ver Der Vart,it could do the best. Its time Furgason to work on this.
