23.34 BST ...and on that bombshell, it's time for the transfer blog to recharge its batteries for about eight and a half hours so it can bring you more of those golden nuggets. Which club will be the next to be linked with Andy Carroll? Will PSG buy the entire AC Milan squad? Will Adrian Mariappa demand a move to the DW Stadium? Find out (possibly) from 0800 BST tomorrow morning.

23.29 BST New Watford boss Gianfranco Zola has told the London Evening Standard that he won’t stand in Adrian Mariappa’s way should he decide to leave amid interest from Premier League duo Reading and Wigan.

23.27 BST Atalanta aren’t in for former AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi, who is available on a free transfer. “I have heard the reports relating to Inzaghi, but again none of them are true,” director general Pierpaolo Marino told TuttoAtalanta.com. “At this moment in time, we have made no official move for Pippo Inzaghi.”

23.20 BST Yossi Benayoun is back at Chelsea following the expiry of his loan deal at Arsenal and it appears he’s hoping to stay there and force his way into Roberto Di Matteo’s plans. “Now I am back at Chelsea and I’m trying to do my best in front of Robbie,” he said. “We will just have to see what happens.”

23.11 BST The Evening Chronicle says Newcastle United are holding talks with Demba Ba to try to get him to sign a new contract. One without a frighteningly low release clause.

23.04 BST Newell’s Old Boys are apparently ready to offer Liverpool’s Maxi Rodriguez, 31, a return to his native Argentina.

22.49 BST Interested to know who Bayern might sign next? No one, apparently. And Arjen Robben's staying put too. Story here.

22.34 BST Calcionews24.com says Manchester City - surprisingly quiet this summer - are looking at signing Italy centre-back Andrea Ranocchia, 24, from Inter. Not a new rumour, but it’s the first we’ve seen of it for a while.

22.19 BST Marca says Lassana Diarra could yet stay at Real Madrid. And play as a right-back. The paper reports: “[Madrid] are unwilling to pay the €15m fee that has been quoted for the right-backs in which they are interested. The club has also ruled out Maicon for a variety of other reasons. Within the halls of the Bernabéu, meanwhile, the opinion is that Lass is perfectly capable of filling in at right back and competing with Arbeloa for a first-team spot.”

21.50 BST PSG are said to be closing in on Luka Modric and, though Carlo Ancelotti hasn't been hugely forthcoming coming on the subject, he has praised the Spurs man as one of the best midfielders in the world. Story here.

21.34 BST Anderlecht’s Matias Suarez - variously linked with Bayern, Arsenal and Liverpool - posted on Facebook to announce that he’d be staying in Belgium next season. Only it turned out it wasn’t really his Facebook page. “That’s not true,” he said later in the day. “That is not my official page, so do not take the news as reliable.” So perhaps he is off after all.

21.15 BST The Andy Carroll saga rumbles onward. Well, sort of. ESPN commentator Ian Darke has taken to Twitter to say he doesn’t think the big man be needed at Anfield: “Rodgers likes 4 3 3 with two pacy wide men a la Dyer and Sinclair at Swans. With Suarez a cert for central striker role, no room for Carroll.”

But Liverpool won’t be able to offload him to Tottenham. Rather unsurprisingly, Andre Villas-Boas isn’t looking for a tall target man to spearhead his Spurs revolution. “I'm not sure of Liverpool's intentions on Andy Carroll," Villas-Boas said, “but he's certainly not a player we're looking for."

21.05 BST It seems Liverpool will not be signing Real Madrid’s Jose Callejon. “There are several clubs interested in Callejon, but Real Madrid are unwilling to sell him,” agent Garcia Quilon told AS. “He won’t be sold.”

20.57 BST Chelsea are reportedly planning an improved offer for Andre Schurrle, and Bayer Leverkusen have given them the merest whiff of encouragement. Story here.

20.37 BST A little more on the Ibrahimovic to PSG stuff: Sky Italia and the Gazzetta dello Sport report that agent Mino Raiola has flown to Sweden to speak to the striker and try to persuade him to take the Parisian petrodollars.

20.23 BST There are suggestions that Juan Roman Riquelme could join Didier Drogba at Shanghai Shenhua, but it appears they’re nonsense. As China Football News tweets: “Chinese clubs are only permitted to sign two foreign players in this window, regardless of quotas. Moreno and Drogba already in.”

20.05 BST Sky Sport 24 says Maicon’s move from Inter to Chelsea is being held up because the 30-year-old wants a long contract and Chelsea are too sensible to give it to him. It appears the move is still expected to go through, though.

19.54 BST Denmark defender Simon Kjaer has just tweeted: “Ciao Romanisti! Back in #Wolfsburg. Still don't now where I'll play next season. If it's not #asroma I'll just tell you... ...that I was so PROUD to be #GIallorosso! To all my #asroma team mates: Forza ragazzi! Forza Roma! @OfficialASRoma"

19.42 BST ESPN writer Adam Digby tweets: “Antonio Conte names squad for pre-season, excluding Milos Krasic & all the players who were out on loan last season.”

19.37 BST: BIG RUMOUR Sky Sport 24 is reporting that PSG have reached an agreement with AC Milan to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva for €65 million.

19.33 BST: DONE DEALS Chelsea duo Tamas Kalas and Patrick van Aanholt have joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan for the 2012-13 season. More here.

19.23 BST Wondering what’s going on with Hulk’s move to Chelsea or Paris St Germain? If you’re a member of the media, kindly stop wondering aloud to Porto president Pinto da Costa, as he appears to be tired of the story.

“I don't know why you ask me about Hulk and don't ask me about Helton, Moutinho, James [Rodriguez], Maicon and the others,” he told reporters at a political event in Gaia. “Hulk is as close to leaving as the others. For other players, there have been some approaches. Until now, nothing has arrived for Hulk.”

19.13 BST Remember to give us your thoughts using the comments box and we'll do our best to promote a selection. Here's one from reader Joe Smith.

"Being an American, I'd love to see Dempsey sign with Liverpool. Personally, I only think it will help Dempsey, and if LFC can wrap up a deal worth 7 million pounds, what a steal! Charlie Adam cost more than that! Let alone Downing, Henderson, etc."

18.57 BST Crystal Palace are ready to offload wantaway defender Nathaniel Clyne, chairman Steve Parish has revealed. Parish said: "We need to do a deal with Clyne. There is a bit of action in the background and we know there is a lot of interest. It is just about sorting out who it is best to go to and who will put the right money on the table. We're all working to get an outcome. Clubs don't want to go down the tribunal route. It is a game of cat and mouse on the fee - we've just got to let that play out."

18.43 BST Rangers have reached an agreement with midfielder Juanma Ortiz that has seen the Spaniard's contract terminated by mutual consent. Story here.

18.14 BST: DONE DEAL West Brom have signed Belgian winger Yassine El Ghanassy on a season-long loan from Gent. Story here.

17.58 BST Sevilla have rejected a bid of €5m from Fulham for defender Federico Fazio, according to Marca. Fazio said today that there have been offers from other teams but he's focused on Sevilla.

17.30 BST Real Madrid seem to think that David Silva won't sign a new deal with Man City. Confident aren't they? But surely they can't pick up both Silva AND Modric, so they have a tough choice to make.

17.20 BST Striker Mauro Zarate is willing to reduce his salary in order to remain at Lazio, according to his agent Luis Ruzzi. "Would he be willing to reduce his contract?" he told Corriere dello Sport. "Mauro would be open to that possibility as he turned down quite a bit of money when he joined Inter on loan."

17.11 BST Benfica sporting director Rui Costa says there is no talks over the potential sale of Axel Witsel at the moment. "Witsel is a player of Benfica and he is doing the pre-season with us," Rui Costa stated to reporters.

16.45 BST AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has met with agent Mino Raiola, adding to further speculation about the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. PSG are being linked with a fresh bid.

16.32 BST Adel Taarabt has signed a new contract at QPR until 2016. He has also changed his number to No.10.

16.26 BST Liverpool are hoping to pull off the £7 million signing of Real Madrid forward Jose Callejon in the next few days, according to the Daily Star.

16.05 BST Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has laughed off suggestions that Barcelona could prise Yohan Cabaye from his grasp for as little at £8 million. He said: "The interest is purely speculative. We have had no contact and certainly no offer, and obviously we wouldn't even consider an offer anywhere near that region.'' Read more here

14.25 BST - Done deal - Goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has left QPR to join Leeds United for an undisclosed fee and will be reunited with manager Neil Warnock for a fourth time, having previously worked under him at Bury, Sheffield United and Loftus Road.

13.54 BST French newspaper Le Parisien claims PSG are keen on Luka Modric and they will stump up Tottenham's €40 million asking price.

13.20 BST Gazzetta dello Sport report that former Inter striker Samuel Eto'o wants Wesley Sneijder to join him at Anzhi and the Russian club will test the water with a €25m offer for the former Real Madrid man.

12.57 BST Bolton Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies is a £5 million transfer target for Premier League new-boys Reading and Fulham, says The Sun.

12.31 BST Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu has revealed that he would return to former club Barcelona if he was given a chance to play by new coach Tito Vilanova. Full story

12.11 BST Bundesliga club Hamburg SV and Corinthians have agreed a deal for Peru striker Paolo Guerrero, who will now undergo a medcial in Brazil. "Both teams have agreed on the transfer," Hamburg sports director Frank Arnesen told reporters.

11.50 BST Porto striker Hulk has clarified his position in relation to a possible move to Chelsea, insisting "nothing" is currently happening between he and the West London club. Full story

11.31 BST - Done Deal - Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen have announced the signing of defender Daniel Carvajal from Real Madrid on a five-year deal.

11.20 BST Fiorentina have terminated the contract of wantaway midfielder Houssine Kharja. The 29-year-old was contracted to the Tuscan outfit for another season but reportedly agreed a two-year deal Qatari with Al Arabi last month.

08.59 BST Big-spending French side Paris Saint-Germain will offer around €60 million for AC Milan duo Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to L'Equipe.

08.45 BST Oh no! It's the news we have all been dreading. Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims AC Milan have revived the tedious Carlos Tevez transfer saga by submitting a proposal to Man City after positive talks with the player’s agent Kia Joorabchian.

08.38 BST Fulham are set to pip Everton to the signing of Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega, who left Wigan at the end of last season, on a free transfer.

08.00 BST Tottenham's pursuit of Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is gathering pace but Spurs are still £3 million short of the French club's £15 million valuation, according to The Times.

Good morning all. The future of Andy Carroll is once again dominating the newspapers but while on Tuesday AC Milan were supposedly courting the Liverpool striker, Wednesday brings the big man down to earth with a bump as newly promoted West Ham want to take him on loan. At least that's according to the Daily Mirror.

The Independent claims Liverpool are prepared to accept a £20 million loss on Carroll this summer. However, there is little optimism at Anfield that the striker would attract offers of even £15 million and agree that a loan deal for the 23-year-old remains most likely.

According to The Sun, Barcelona are eyeing a shock raid for Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye. The Spanish giants are weighing up whether to make an £8 million bid for Cabaye, or French midfield team-mate Yann M’Vila, 22.... Also in The Sun, Liverpool are lining up a £7 million move for Celtic's 23-year-old midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng.

The Daily Star reports Yaya Toure has rejected a shock return to Barcelona and pledged his future to Manchester City. But the Premier League champions could still lose midfielder David Silva, with Real Madrid refusing to give up hope of signing the Spain midfielder.... Also in the Daily Star, Ajax want £8 million for Newcastle target Vurnon Anita, but the Toon are only willing to pay £6 million.

Cabaye to Barca? Surely he will be tempted to go if he wants to play in the centre back position. If Barca really wants him they need to pay good money and nufc will gladly sell.

Posted by clyde charles on 07/11/2012

Fabio Borini? Rodgers please give me one high profile signing that would make Liverpool better. I love attractive football but also love a striker who can put the finishing touch; Gonzalo, Higuain, Demitar Berbtov. See where I'm going?

Posted by Dappo on 07/11/2012

Chelsea need a Right back and another forward

Posted by okon ekpo bassey on 07/11/2012

I hope Man Utd will get a good midfielder this season.

Posted by bobackjl97 on 07/11/2012

I have the sinking feeling it would be a huge mistake for Liverpool to let Andy go out on loan this season. I feel he has bags of goals in him, and we'd be shipping him off in good form.

Posted by brandon lee on 07/11/2012

i really hope newcastle will sign anita from ajax.. and sell french donkey star cabaye to barca... he dont deserve to wear newcastle colours.. i do hope newcastle will sign jay spearing from liv.. he can be our anchor man in mildfield together with anita... at least i hope lin\v will keep andy carroll and do sigm fabio borini, and guston ramires.. cheers......

Posted by dailon on 07/11/2012

I hope Sneijder joins Anzhi it would be great to see him and Eto pair up again. And I think in the end PSG will get Ibra but not Silva but you never know with that kind of money being floated around.

Posted by dailon on 07/11/2012

Fellow Liverpool fans I agree we are bringing in some mediocre guys so far. Dempsey will be a good signing but I think Carroll needs to stay unless we are about to sign a big time striker I am not aware of. I think signing Rodgers was not the best of ideas if you look at the upcoming season it's going to be up in the air and right now I cannot see us qualifying for Europe.

Posted by aussiebaz2003 on 07/11/2012

like the guy says the same old tedious nonsense about milan wanting carlos tevez. no doubt joorabchians been whispering in there or anyone elses ear that tevez wants a move so he can make lots of money as his agent. no doubt they want a loan deal as well??? hope he does go if im honest but is sold for the right price. trouble is who can afford him?

Posted by Jtylerj21 on 07/11/2012

Andy Carroll does have some goals in him. I just worry that they're not gonna be part of liverpools system. I don't think higuain would b worth much outside of RM. Clint
Dempsey is worth twice what they are reportedly offering. That's the biggest transfer they should be worrying about. An attacking midfielder with goals in him. Can play 1 touch football

Posted by gunner138098 on 07/11/2012

why is it that who ever is on Arsenal's shopping list attracts other suitors like moth to flame?jovetic, mvila, lloris, capoue, diang and now....cabaye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Damon on 07/11/2012

Can someone explain to me why Arsenal would sell Van Persie for anything less than 30M? Transfer money and Champions league money count the same. IF they were to sell Van Persie and then miss out on the Champion's league then every single dollar they got for the transfer would be completely offset and the team would actually lose money on the transaction. If Van Persie wants to be a mercenary then fine- use him one more year at a below market rate when he is still in his prime and ride him to the champion's league. Then if someone else wants to spend huge on a 30 year old with major injury issues then so be it. Its not like Van Persie would coast this season as it would be a contract year. Plus with Van Persie having all the risk of getting through the season uninjured it would also increase the odds of him resigning with Arsenal.

I wonder why Liverpool are at a loss why Andy Carrol didn't score goals last year. They only have to look at the services they gave him. They had Henderson, Andy Johnson, the Argie, the Welshman, Jonjo Shelvey etc, who never gave him the balls the way he likes them. No crosses to attack, either on grass or in the air. LFC have to adjust their game to accommodate him, else he's bound to fail.

Posted by Xisco on 07/11/2012

Where exactly is Arsenal in this Transfer Window right now??? Sure they have got Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud but that's it? Especially after RVP's big announcement you would figure they would be spending a bit more than what they have. Great players available right now and it just angers me that Arsenal are only rumored with them and not taking up the chance of bringing in good HELP! And I hope they really don't let Hugo Lloris get signed by Tottenham that would be horrible!

Liverpool need to allow Carroll go on loan or outright transfer if any club can cough out the right fee for him. We need the money for a new and more productive striker. Things should start working again at anfield from the next season. New manager, New Positive changes.YNWA.

Pls just want liverpool to sign some big names not mid age players, liverpool is the biggest club in london. Players like javi martinez, and some good players will do d club well. Not mid age players. Fabio borini is a good player and I like d signing. Pls Rodgers sign some good players and take d club forward. M villa is waiting and so on.

Liverpool definitely does NOT need Dimitar Berbatov, we need great movement up front to help assist and pair up with Suarez. Berbatov is slow and hesitant 80% of the time. Higuain on the other hand would be the best high profile signing ever for the Reds. I'm kind of excited by the thought of Borini coming in, the kid is talented plain and simple. Really looking forward to seeing what Rodgers has in store for us.

Posted by eddy on 07/11/2012

I think Liverpool should keep Carroll and add Borini, blazyckowski, Dempsey, Sneijder or Honda

But Messi, C. Ronaldo and Naymer ain't no bad options at all..They will make the team even stronger and better..

David Silva isn't going anywhere. The press said the same thing about Mancini that they are saying about Silva, and he just signed a 5 year deal.

Posted by Ben on 07/11/2012

I think Callejon would make a great addition to Liverpool. I would not let Carroll go out on loan either; rather, give him some playing time and some good support and see what happens. (Brendan, while you're shopping at Real, pick up Mesut Ozil as well. :)

I am happy to see Everton have not sold anyone, which includes Marouane Fellaine...They have added Stephen Naismith from G.Rangers, which is a positive. There is still time for David Moyes to add to the forward line, before the start of the season. This could be the year for the Blues to attain a top three position. They deserve it & have a squad that's able to attain that. Have you ever kept a car running with no currency in the bank for spare parts...? Toffeemen for top three in 2013...

I can't even read this blog anymore, all the transfer talk is absolute lunacy! what has happened to football? Ibra and Silva for 60 million to PSG? Andy Carroll going out on loan to West Ham? David Silva to Real Madrid?

I know this isn't soccernet's fault and you're just reporting whats out there BUT ITS ALL INSANITY! These sugar daddy megabucks club owners are ruining football! What a disgrace it's all become, sigh....

Posted by osita igwe on 07/11/2012

I expect the new Liverpool gaffer to go for the best this season. Any wrong purchase will take the club back, this for all i know won't be good for the club and the fans too. YWNWA...

Posted by Jose on 07/11/2012

Liverpool needs Dempsy, Borini, or Ba
Chelsea DON'T need another striker or winger... Marin will do just fine for them... Also they won't get Modric
Man City just can't settle on their strikers so they may as well get Higuain and sell Tevez and Dzeko
Tottenham need to sell Modric and VDV so they can find a striker worth starting alongside Ade
And Arsenal are doomed if they don't see what they have in Pidolski and Giroud

Posted by John on 07/11/2012

I agree with Joe Smith that Dempsey would be good for Liverpool. What a tandem he could make with Gerrard! Dempsey has the talent and with more talented players around him, he could really help push them to the Champions League.

Posted by Dean on 07/11/2012

I've got tickets to see Liverpool in Baltimore and Boston and would love to see Dempsey wearing red. C'mon Liverpool, get it done!

Posted by Dean on 07/11/2012

I'm tantalized by all of the talk about Liverpool signing new offensive weapons, but don't we need to lock down Skrtel and Agger for certain? Both are drawing attention from big clubs - what would Liverpool do without them? The club has no replacement for either on the bench, and certainly no one capable of starting as their replacements.

Posted by Jeremy on 07/11/2012

Liverpool just needs to get some attacking players. The defensive back four is OK - 2 good centre backs and two decent outside backs that move up the pitch well (what Rodgers wants) - the midfield needs some more attack.

I'm thinking Dempsey, should he be signed, can fill that void of an attacking midfielder instantly.Blaszczykowski could be a huge asset to a group of dreadful wingers. If the money is there Witsel would be good too, but we have to work with what we have.

Up front I'm hoping Carroll stays, but Borini will be class in a year or two. Callejon would be perfect for this set up as well. Higuain would be superb as well.

* Maybe LeBron James should pony up some of his championship winnings so we can snag Neymar out of the dark. Big surprise - would be lovely.

Posted by Matt K on 07/11/2012

TALKSPORT:
Looks like CARROLL could Be in his way out of ANFIELD.
Apparently he's been offered out to premier league clubs according to TALKSPORT so RODGERS mustn't fancy him in his side!!!!

Posted by Daniel Ely on 07/11/2012

Hope BR talk on Carroll's loan move is just to encourage him. He's a record signing, was looking fit towards the end of last season and the Euros. There's no major difference in Brendan's and Dalglish's(pass and move) style of play, except Rodgers favours ball retention and possession. Andy has the potential to become a legend and I'm sure he can adapt to any style of play.In conclusion Liverpool will make a bad move if Carroll leaves. Now's the right time to rise and prove doubters wrong!

Posted by Zameer on 07/11/2012

I'd Love to see the RVP for Dzeko/Tevez and 15 million pounds go down. It gives Arsene a top striker and 15 Mill to spend towards M'Villa / Sneidjer

Why doesn't Fergie sign up Clyne from Crystal Palace? It seems like he would provide some good cover for Rafael and Smalling when he plays there. That would seem like a good fit to me. But signing Kagawa, Powell and possibly signing Lucas Moura are good signs of things to come at OT.

Posted by Alex Hawks on 07/11/2012

If Clint Dempsey joins Liverpool, that would just be a huge mistake for what he wants to accomplish. He wants to play in the Champions League, which I can't see Liverpool doing anytime soon. He'd only move to a team that finished ahead of Fulham on goal differential if he made that switch. Liverpool would have to make some PSG type signings to even have a chance to compete with City, United, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle. Heck, Everton might even give them a run for their money this season. And he doesn't seem to be a person who would play for any of those teams. I think he'd have to go to another country to get to the Champions League.

liverpool need a middle man tht can draw players to him an him players with gud balls suso is a nice young player i wud like to see get some play in the carling cup agger must stay to me agger is one of the best center backs in the bpl lfc need a winger a mid AND a foward

Posted by LIVERPOOL FAN on 07/11/2012

LIVERPOOL MOST SIGN RAMIREZ,HONDA,HIGUAIN,BORINI AND SELL SPERING ADAM AND GIVE CHANCE TO ACADAMY PLAYER SUSO,STERLING,MORGAN THEN THEY WILL TOUGH TEAM.

What exactly does "being an American" have to do with wanting Dempsey to sign with liverpool? I am an American and I sure as hell don't want him to sign there and not just because I don't like that team. There are better teams in England that he could get playing time at, let alone better teams in other countries he could get playing time at, that are in the Champions League now as opposed to "expecting" to qualify for the Champions League. There are even better teams in London specifically, where he currently plays, that are in or have a better shot at qualifying for the Champions League. Dempsey makes sense for liverpool, but I don't think liverpool makes sense for Dempsey.

Posted by Jim T on 07/11/2012

Well said TJ, Joe Smith is clearly a Liverpool fan. Dempsey has stated that he wants to play in the Champions League, so why the hell would he move to Liverpool? And I will throw in that Liverpool aren't even the best team in LIVERPOOL (and no, I'm not an Everton fan) let alone London (as you mentioned) or Manchester.

Posted by Jon on 07/11/2012

Dempsey to Liverpool doesn't make any sense. He wants to play in the Champions League, and this summer is arguably his last chance to move to a club that can guarantee that for him. Liverpool can't.

Posted by Saeed on 07/11/2012

Andy Carrol is a good player and Liverpool should not sell him nor Loan him. I can see a lots of goals from Andy. He is on form at the moment.. We should use him. He doesn't want to go either they should let him stay.

Posted by Jose on 07/11/2012

Dempsy wants to play in European competition and start... which of the big 4 would he start for? Over Rooney/Welbeck/Hernandez? Over Aguero/Tevez/Balotelli/Dzeko? Over Van Persie/Pidolski/Giroud? Over Torres/Hazard/Mata?

Posted by Patty B on 07/11/2012

I would think that Suarez is pacy and tricky enough and works hard enough to play the spot on the wing, so I dont necessarily agree with ESPNs statement. If you played Carroll as the lone striker he would be able to hold up play while Suarez and Bellamy attacked on the wings. If Carroll can adjust his play to fit in with the passing system I think it would work out fantastically.

Posted by jonp on 07/11/2012

Have you guys asked Tito Vilanova if he's interested in taking Carroll out on loan yet? What's to be gained by posting a blurb that AVB, who obviously isn't interested in that type of player, confirms his disinterest when asked? Also, since when were Ian Darke's twitter mind farts considered newsworthy? The only reason this "saga" rolls on is because you feel the need to stretch it out as much as possible (and always with "35 million pound striker" preceding his name).

Posted by Ross on 07/11/2012

If Liverpool have ambitions of finishing in the top 4, Dempsey is not the player they need. They need to convince a player like Jovetic to join. Dempsey is a good player and if he joined a team like Arsenal or Spurs I'd see a lot of logic behind those moves because Arsenal and Spurs have a lot of pieces. Liverpool have 6-7 players. Dempsey is not going to increase that number so what's the point of getting him? Has a good team with mediocre individual talent ever won the PL?

Liverpool need match winners or young players with tons of potential. Buying Dempsey wouldn't be a horrible transfer but it's a very lateral move for them. Liverpool need talent. Dempsey isn't going to make a major difference so what's the point of getting him?

As for Andy Carroll, sell him. He's a £8m player worth £12-15m only because he's English. Borini is a far better prospect.

Posted by Jared on 07/11/2012

Any news on Fabio Borini? Heard the deal is done and could be revealed tomorrow or even tonight?

Posted by Drew on 07/11/2012

Let me just say, as a Spurs fan, if we can get 40 million pounds for Luka, I'll even throw in a free ride to the airport.

Posted by Dave on 07/11/2012

Regarding Ian Darke's "certainty" that Suarez will play the lone striker role, let's not forget he played on the right hand side of the same system at Ajax. Carroll is better with his feet than people give him credit for AND he provides an aerial threat (something they may need when the likes of Chelsea pack it back). Find a left sided player who can play in this system (Affelay, Konoplanka) then add an attacking central middy. Don't let Carroll go without giving him a chance. If he works hard on defense, he could have a break-out year.

Posted by Alos on 07/11/2012

Seen a lot of nonsense being posted by you guys. Someone said that Carroll to West Ham is insanity? West Ham confirmed they are trying to get him...

Another guy said Liverpool should be trying to get Higuiain or Berbatov. Why would Higuiain leave Madrid for Liverpool, when he gets paid heaps there, and has been linked with teams like Juventus. Berbatov is old and will be lucky if he even starts for Liverpool. Borini is quite a decent player and I assure you he CAN put a finishing touch lol.

Some other guy said Andy Johnson played for Liverpool???

Shows how much you lot know about football.

To be honest I doubt we will sign Dempsey, by looking at Swansea from last season Rodgers would probably prefer a speedier option. Dempsey isn't the fasted guy around, but I still rate the guy.

cfc should get rid of malouda and esesin and buy hamsik

@Dave If Carroll gets back on defense, he might not make it past the 60th minute of any match. If he's going to play lone striker then let him stay at the top where he will be needed.

@Ross As for Dempsy not being all that good of a player... 4th top goal scorer in the Prem seems pretty good to me no matter what team you're.

Posted by DannyP on 07/11/2012

If Real are really looking to lift Silva from city, they just need to make an offer of cash and Callejon, he's not getting any game time in Madrid and that's one less right winger for Silva to deal with. Home run.

Posted by Don on 07/12/2012

I've beein waiting a long time for Liverpool to sign Keisuke Honda... I know this will probably never happen, but with him in the midfield Liverpool will be a lot stronger imo.

Posted by Jake on 07/12/2012

sooo, are villa planning on doing anything else this summer?

Posted by Eric Rodriguez on 07/12/2012

Is the deal with Gaston to Liverpool still on?
Is Borini signing with pool?
Any good news for a good striker coming to Liverpool because as a die hard fan I hope there is... thank you.

Posted by duttyshy on 07/12/2012

I think Dempsy is a good player but for the system that Rogers want to play.Despite is scoring ability he lack skill and pace.Ramirez would be the ideal man for the job.The Carroll situation is a bit tricky but i think he deserves another season to prove is worth. So i wudnt loan or sell him not yet not this season worst he is showing potential.Liverpool definately need to give the young players a chance,Fernandes Suso and Raheem Sterlin. We need to give the them playing time so they become more experienced players.Look how our enemy give the likes of rafael and fabio the chance.
BR plz!! and thanxs!!!! bust the youth them this season.I kno both could ave done better than the likes a Hendo,Downing,Adams and even Carroll.
The next thing some of these players running down big clubs and money and at the end of the day they not getting any playing time.It stifle there career and deprive we the fans of seeing a great or potential talent. There are a lot of players that we all can mention.

Posted by Jared on 07/12/2012

While I would love to see Liverpool sign some of these big names being throw out by my fellow Reds on here.....but we have to be realistic. Sneijder, Javi Martinez, Blaszczykowski, Berbatov, Higuin, etc..these guys are already on teams that are in the CL or planning on going to a team that has CL footy. Borini, Demps, and to a lesser extent Ramirez has they are more likely signings unless someone with CL footy becomes involved, then you have to hope that guaranteed 1st team action will turn in favor of Liverpool. Rodgers seems like he has it together, he will sign players that fit his pass and move, and hopefully with Lucas back healthy plus some signings up top will push the Reds back into CL contention once again....the Reds belong in the big European competitions.

Major daily in Seoul, the Joong Ang Ilbo, ran a story this morning claiming that QPR and Celtic have reached a deal for Ki Seung Yong and the only thing to be hammered out is wages. Claimed an announcement will follow shortly. Ki will join Park Ji Sung and QPR will be the first English Premier League side to feature two Korean national team members. If true, sorry Liverpool.

Last season Liverpool aren't good enough. But this season, it will be different. Maybe If Dempsey join LIverpool he could change the result. Let us see.

Posted by Zach on 07/12/2012

liverpool should just loan carroll. And if he impressed, then keep him after a season. If not sell him... Add dempsey for abt 10mil would be reasonable with borini also at 10mil. adding maybe 2 star defenders would be good too... probably each defender worth the most 8-9mil... wat do u tink?

Posted by ZAch on 07/12/2012

If maxi does not want to stay at liverpool, selling him for about 9-12mil would be reasonable

Posted by paul on 07/12/2012

I think that Liverpool should try to offload the Jordan, Adams, Downing trio as there are many players of the same calibre around. Sell or loan out Carrol as he needs playing time with another club and use the money for Dempsey and Callejon
