22.30 BST Spanish TV station Intereconomia's has claimed Barcelona and Santos have agreed a €60 million deal for Neymar, but that it is not yet decided whether he will join this summer or in a year's time. Not much more information there, but a very big story if true...

22.14 BST: Carroll update Liverpool have rejected Newcastle's loan bid, according to the Press Association. It's said the Reds will entertain offers for a permanent transfer, though.

21.55 BST Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao, 24, has revealed he wants to return to Benfica before he turns 30. “I want to return while I’m still fresh,” he told O Jogo. “I love Benfica. It is the club of my heart.”

19.51 BST Goal.com believes Manchester United “are fearful of being priced out of the race to sign Sao Paulo’s teenage sensation Lucas Moura”. They’ve offered £20 million but Sao Paulo want £30 million, apparently, and United are also said to be concerned by his £110,000-a-week wage demands.

19.28 BST Norwich boss Chris Hughton on his transfer plans: "There might be positions where I feel I don't need to strengthen and there might be positions where, for what's available, I think we have got better here.

"What I have is a team that has done well with good team spirit. I do want to improve the squad, but I have to be very conscious there is a lot of good here and you don't want to remove too much of that."

19.10 BST Here are the quotes from Dimitar Berbatov’s Facebook page: “The truth is, I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone, if I am not playing. And I want to play, I want to help, but for unknown reasons it’s not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it's better for everyone if we say goodbye.

“If not, I am professional and I will keep doing everything I can, to help my team and my teammates, whenever I have opportunity to do so.”

However, the channel also says that the Reds are only willing to consider permanent deals, so it looks like there’s a problem.

17.49 BST Roberto Mancini has dismissed speculation linking AC Milan with Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko.

Liverpool - Clint Dempsey ....really??
I mean what has it all turned too! Few years back , we were challenging for the title , attracting the best players in the game. And now , all we wish is for 4th spot and that too by buying way mediocre players. I'd rather Liverpool go for young prospects than experienced average..

Posted by Agboola taiwo on 07/15/2012

Van persie should not leave arsenal, because arsenal will lift more trophies next season.

Posted by alexk on 07/15/2012

any possibility of ganso heading to arsenal?

Posted by precious on 07/15/2012

RVP should go where he feels that the trophies are hanging for him to lift as for me Arsenal need more than just RVP, soon poldoski will leave and maybe Wenger

Posted by sulaimon on 07/15/2012

clint dempsey could be ideal signing and i think he can improve liverpool fc strenqth.

Posted by ridwaan abiola on 07/15/2012

Van persie's departure will hurt Arsenal, but it will hurt d player more.

Posted by ThankGod on 07/15/2012

Wenger 2 do every tin possible 2 keep persie cos wit podoski & giroud wit same persie surely Arsenal wil lift up trophy dis season.

Posted by Oloruntobi ojo on 07/15/2012

I suport RVP to leave arsenal let him try another team and let see what is going to happen because VP is a very good player but tropy always against him.

Posted by ShadeyT on 07/15/2012

How can you call Clint Dempsey experienced mediocre? He was rated fourth best player in the epl last season for a reason.

Posted by Rob on 07/15/2012

In this day and age, you'd think that if Van Persie was spotted, there'd be (at least) a phone camera photo to back the claim!

BREAKING NEWS : Gurpreet Singh Sandhu to try out at Wigan Athletic F.C.

Posted by geek on 07/15/2012

please sell rvp. we do not need a 1-hit-wonder. playing well for just 1 season, especially after being at arsenal for the longest time, do not make u a hero.

Posted by beef111 on 07/15/2012

arsenal should get rid of gervinho and sign ibrahim afellay. they should also loan out abou diaby to get some good playing time after his injury. paulo henrique ganso should come to arsenal and play with wilshere and/or son in the middle. that means we send ramsey out on loan or transfer

Posted by beef111 on 07/15/2012

has anybody thought of having a carlos tevez and robin van persie swap?? and man city doesnt even need to spend a penny!!!!

Posted by Makuei on 07/15/2012

Mmmh!!seems lyk he is going then bt that is just rumours let's wait for the official one..

Posted by halamadrid on 07/15/2012

If madrid get modric and play a 3 4 3 they will be impossible to stop.
3-4-3
GK,Iker Casillas
RCB Ramos,CB Pepe, LCB Marcelo
RM Modric,CM Khedira,CM Alonso,LM OZIL
RW Ronaldo,ST Benzema,LW Di María

XABI Alonso DROPS BACK DEEP SO HE COULD BE LIKE A 4TH DEFENDER WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IN THE MIDFIELD IS ATTACKING
OZIL AND RONALDO CAN ROAM AROUND :)

We remember the absolute nonsense Wenger produced in the transfer windows in the last two years. Now it seems he is making up for lost time. Instead of dancing around for cheap and talented players, Wenger might want to make a statement of intent...go for Luca Modric, Wesley Sneider, or Hulk. They might seem exaggerated solutions but a purchase that makes it clear that they can pull in a big name rather than losing big names would bring back confidence in the club and leadership. And deeper the run into the Champions League and a trophy or two would help pay the high cost of such a player.

Posted by Justin on 07/15/2012

Dempsey to Liverpool would reinvigorate the team. Dempsey is fierce when he has something to play for. In a midfield that has lost its identity, Dempsey would connect well with Suarez and Gerrard's competitive side, provide some much needed aggression and deliver Champions League play to LFC next season.

Posted by Deadcasual on 07/15/2012

Why hasn't anyone made serious moves for M'Vila or Behlanda, or even Vidal? If Manchester and 'Pool and Tot are having issues in mid, why not go after these guys?

Posted by Jake on 07/15/2012

I just saw an interesting rumor that liverpool are interested in bringing Russian CDM Igor Denisov for £7million, that would be an interesting move reports claim a deal could be done by next week. It also appears liverpool are still interested in Christian Tello but a deal probably wouldn't be done till after the olympics and barcelona are more willing to sell to liverpool than other teams because they aren't in the same league. It's tough to believe whether either of these moves could potentially happen especially the denisov one because that rumor unlike the tello one has just started to circulate but they're two intriguing rumors to keep an eye on.

Posted by Roy24660 on 07/15/2012

After Arsenal got off to a great start in the transfer mart, things have come apart. In a replay of last summer, RvP would seem to be all but gone, and I had hopes we'd get Clint Dempsey, but it seems Liverpool have him all but sewn up. (Of course, that won't guarantee Dempsey the CL experience he hungers after.)

Posted by scott on 07/15/2012

So, van Persie was allegedly spotted house-hunting, yet there isn't an accompanying photo? Anyone can say anything regarding football rumors and the masses eat it up...lame.

Posted by Paul B on 07/15/2012

Has anyone there heard anything about this rumour of Olof Melberg coming to Toronto FC (MLS)?

Posted by Gord0219 on 07/15/2012

Nice seeing an American in Michael Bradley getting into one of the bigger clubs.

Posted by AnArsenalFan on 07/15/2012

Chelsea really need Oscar.

He has the things that you cannot succeed without in modern football. Not the fancy dribbling moves, which are usually reduced to worthless in the tight spaces and pace of today's game, but strength on the ball, first touch, and balance.

Oscar doesn't get knocked off the ball easily (reminds me of Iniesta in this sense), he is very good at shielding it from opponents, and he knows when to settle for a backpass in order to retain possession and when to try to make something happen.

Those skills, I think, mean a lot more today than the blitzkrieg dribbling of Eden Hazard, who will find it much harder to knock the ball past defenders and outpace them in the EPL.

Not saying that Hazard won't be good, of course, but Chelsea needs Oscar more than they needed Hazard: someone to retain possession in crowded midfields and play intelligent passes.

Rvp shld b allowed 2 go while d money realise from his sales shld go 4 d purchasing of defenders(established players) which is one department we are having challenges in this our team. Gunners 4 life!

Posted by Charlie on 07/15/2012

Italian Under-21 international Marco Verratti has been signed by PSG...Juventus were thought to be favorites for his signature.

Posted by hideox44 on 07/15/2012

RVP will certainly sign an extension to his current contract at Arsenal. With the ridiculous offers coming in from Juventus etc... (around $10 million) Arsenal know with the current transfer market they will have to spend 2x that to land a striker of RVP's standards. Unless a mega offer comes in which would be very surprising i don't see him leaving.

VISCA BARCA

Posted by dpes on 07/15/2012

its better tht liverpool shud buy owen instead of dempsey. he can be a stricker when borini or suarez is injured...i wud like gerrard and owen to bring their magic together for the last time...

Posted by FitriAjiSaimuri on 07/15/2012

LIV should sign Dos Santos of Spurs. A very good player technically. He is doing very well with the Mexican national side but doesn't given the opportunity at Spurs. Since Spurs don't really use him, give it a try and we might get a great forward with a "not that high price tag" status.

Posted by Jose on 07/15/2012

Why is everyone so down on Clint Dempsey? He's played very well for an average Fulham team and also played well for an American team that's getting better and better... 17 goals in the league is nothing to sneeze at but everyone calling him "average" is laughable at least and offensive in most cases. Everyone who looks at Liverpool and says they should get the Ronaldo's, the Messi's, the Falcao's... that's not realistic right now. Clint Dempsey for 7.5 million or Demba Ba for 7 million sounds like a great acquisition to me.

Posted by Mr. Cliff on 07/15/2012

Honestly, though painful RVP should be sold, his heart is no longer with us. The money realized from his sale should be used to buy NEYMAR. I repeat buy NEYMAR. Is high time arsenal start proving to all that we are a serious and big club. NEYMAR is young and definitely over talented. Finally invest in Ganso and M'Villa plenty options and a rich bench. We will definitely win the league and the elusive CL

Posted by Babson on 07/15/2012

IF rvp leave i pray 2raout is lyf he would not lift any trophie when rvp got injurie he did not compled to leave arsenal if he said he want to go let him go i think if rvp leave arsenal arsene wenger would buy another player who better rvp arsenal need more player some like dempsey, ganso.

Posted by Yhor Akec on 07/15/2012

that very good for Liverpool fan to have player like Dempsey he is one of the best strikers who committed himself to the right thing that make fans happy

Posted by Scytherlex on 07/15/2012

I don't think selling Carroll or even loaning him out is the right move. If you want the guy to improve and adapt to the new system, get him to train with the squad & keep him on the bench for impact/variation. Team need to be multi-dimensional & the guy is 23. Give him a chance with his upturn in form.

Posted by justin on 07/15/2012

Mr. Cliff's comment is an interesting one. Since Wenger likes the young players why not go for NEYMAR! AND if Wenger is so inclined to sell his top players without supporting them with a solid cast he can then sell Neymar in 3 years for a large profit while having won some trophies.

This idea may be playing into being a feeder club, but if that is Arsenal's way of doing business, do so while winning trophies. HA!
