The German giants incurred the wrath of fans when it turned out the exciting new signing they'd hinted at was in fact a Facebook app. "We're sorry. St Petersburg winger Szabolcs Huszti before the window closes. "He is a player who comes with a very good CV, a type of player we don't really have at the club, not least with Gera and Brunt injured long term," Hodgson said.

14.26 GMT: Villas-Boas has been talking about the rather gifted Brazilian Willian. The Portuguese has said: "Willian is an extremely interesting player but I don't think we will progress with our interest because of different issues, from work permit to price valuation. I think our project next year is more important than the actual project at the moment. Not that Willian doesn't have the characteristics for the future but we are betting a lot on what we can build on for next year."

Well, it is up to the Club to decide what a player is worth to them - because it is them who ve to deal with all the financial aspects. Samba wants to get back with Hughes and QPR is trying to get him for cheap - similar to the Milan-Tevez underhand dealings.

Rovers should put out a notice asking himto explain his "i can't give 100% to rovers" comments.

If I was Chris Samba, I would sprint towards Everton. They need a CB and they need a proper leader in the back.

Posted by revant on 01/27/2012

i'm shocked that no one is out for giuseppe rossi.he is one of the most deadliest strikers in spain. i would like to see him in premier league.

Posted by Abbass on 01/27/2012

It has been awfully quiet so far today. I sure hope that a Tevez deal is done some time soon to spice things up a bit.Would also like to see Samba in a Spurs shirt, after watching Man City annihilate King and Kaboul, it became clear that some new blood is needed in defense. Maybe selling dos Santos to Villareal would give Redknapp some extra funds.

Posted by Owais on 01/27/2012

I would love to laugh at Arsene Wenger right now. He is no longer capable of handling Arsenal's transfers. I think they should just give the responsibility of the transfers to some other person while Arsene remains Arsenal's manager and coach only without the ability to do transfers. That'll be good for Arsenal.

Posted by Alex on 01/27/2012

I wish a speedy recovery to Wilshere, he really contributes to our team. If the rumours were true, I'll be anxiously waiting for a quality signing from AW.

Posted by simon on 01/27/2012

How Liverpool general maneger Ian Ayre can say they (Liverpool)dont need any new playrs ? Any one who understand this game new they need at least 3-4 GOOD playrs, and not Carrol and Adam.

Posted by Bernard on 01/27/2012

Another 4 days to go before the winter transfer window closes. Really desperate for Liverpool to sign a high profile striker, a reliable right winger & a centre midfielder. We the die hard fans are tired with those gossips. I really don't think Liverpool would get Cavani, that's for sure. So, what is Dalglish & Comolli waiting for ? They should go for reasonable targets, players whom the Fenway owners will pay for their future development of the club. The likes of David Teixeira or Luuk de Jong fits the bill. If possible, I would like to see Dalglish go for both Scott Sinclair & Nathan Dyer, although Swansea will definitely reject our advances. As for Granero, he is the perfect target for our search of another centre midfielder. If Dalglish can any 3 of the above players, we will stand a chance to fight back up the table & grab a CL spot we are aiming for. King Kenny & Mr Comolli, please do something on the transfers. YNWA !

This Tevez situation is becoming ridiculous. First off anybody who is willing to pay 35 million for him out of their mind, if you look at his track record he stays at a club for two and then wants to leave, its a giant waste of money plus he's a liability and he hasn't played in months. I'm really curious to what his real motive is because if he wanted to be closer to his family why would he stay in Europe. It can't be about winning a title because man city is currently in first place, and it can't be about money because he doesn't want to go PSG. He should retire, save us the trouble.

How fitting that Liverpool is in for Granero when Carroll couldn't hit the side of a granero if a goal was painted on it.

Posted by Zach on 01/27/2012

Any truth to the rumor Liverpool are sizing up a bid for Cavani? Suarez may be quite the recruiter

Posted by AJCook on 01/27/2012

Zach, there is simply no way Liverpool possible have the resolve or the resources to buy Cavani - in January, he will cost at least 40 million and there is no way they will spend that big after Carroll proved to such a big money flop..

From The Sun: "Roma and Juventus are set to battle it out for Chelsea defender Jose Bosingwa."
Lol, suuuuuuuuure... how I only wish this was true!

Posted by Max on 01/27/2012

It's humorous that Liverpool fans are asking for a striker, a winger, and a central midfielder. They do realize that their club signed two strikers (Suarez & Carroll), two wingers (Downing & Henderson), and a central midfielder (Adam) over the past year, right? The club spent, but they spent it on the wrong players. The money is gone. There are no reinforcements coming.

Posted by Max on 01/27/2012

I would love for Arsenal to bring in Christopher Samba. He is a great leader and a fantastic defender. AW should be willing to pay more than what Chelsea did for Gary Cahill because Samba is a better player, IMO. Wouldn't something in the £8-12 million range get it done with the close of the window applying pressure to Blackburn? The only problem is that all Arsenal have are healthy central defenders! Samba would give us 6 plus Squillaci and still no fullbacks....

Posted by Chris on 01/27/2012

I really do not understand why AVB is waiting for the summer to buy a new player. I understand we may miss that player in Champions league, but as it stands will we even be able to make it to the Champions League next year? The goal needs to be 3rd place this season. I understand not buying more than one player, but we have needed a midfield playmaker for a few seasons now.

Posted by Rohin on 01/27/2012

Any truth in the Gourcouff to Arsenal rumor as a temporary replacement while Wilshire is injures? And what about Vertonghen to Arsenal?

Posted by David Robinson on 01/27/2012

Clint Dempsey has shown champions league interest and I think he would be a good fit to play behind Van Persie at Arsenal. Park and Chamakh are jokes and Demspey has a tendency to find goals (against top EPL teams) which would take the weight of of RVP's shoulders. He could even play on the wing if they needed him to which would side well with Wenger if he decides against Walcott or Chamberlain. the kicker is that Arsenal might not make the champions league this year

Posted by Tim on 01/27/2012

Unlike Bernard I hope Liverpool don't sign anyone in this window. I hate Jan. transfer window as prices are inflated because teams don't want to let their players go in the middle of the season. I wish they just did away with this window altogether. It doesn't give time for players to settle and it disrupts clubs who have players that have their heads turned in the middle of the season. Do your buisness in the summer and if you have injuries then develop your youth and give them a chance. Liverpool should make do with what they have. Suarez will be back in three games and give Suso or another young player a shot if Adam is stinking up the joint.

Posted by Mike K on 01/27/2012

So Chelsea has essential broken even in this transfer window by selling Anelka and Alex and signing Cahill at reasonably the same price. Yet we are still without a creative attacking player or striker that can produce goals regularly. It is looking more and more like we will be disappointed with AVB's lack of signings. Who would think we are fighting for our lives to stay in the top four or have a massive match with Napoli in a few weeks. Come on Roman, Spend those Rubles!

Posted by Andy on 01/27/2012

With Wilshere out, Arsenal should move for Honda, and sell Arshavin to Lazio. That way Lazio gets a player they want, and Arsenal get midfield reinforcements.

Posted by David on 01/27/2012

BBC reports that Carroll is on his way to Olympiakos.

Roy Carroll, the Irish goalkeeper.

Posted by Seth on 01/27/2012

SportsnewsIreland.com: Liverpool are reportedly lining up a sensational move to for Edinson Cavani. Could he be key to Liverpool's top 4 finish?

Posted by Anand on 01/27/2012

Might Arsenal be pushed into the transfer market? NO! but we will be pushed into the Europa League... o.O

Posted by adhirox on 01/27/2012

I dont knw whats wrong with two old men.Fergie and Wenger hve lost it completely. Why they don't buy players when they themselves know that their squad is weaker. Its out of my mind and crazy.

Posted by Chris on 01/27/2012

it's humorous that people like Max think they know what they're talking about. everyone and their mother knows Carroll has been a flop. why wouldn't we want a new striker? Henderson is a center midfielder being played out of position, he is hardly a winger. Downing is underwhelming and Adam is just pathetic. we don't need a center mid, we need a poaching/finishing striker, and a speedy/tricky winger. then we're set

Posted by joker on 01/27/2012

i really sick of some fans telling the managers who to get and who is good or bad... its like they are playing championship manager here.. you can buy anyone you like and sounds like they are the better scouts than those hired in the club.seriously, all the names i heard i thought its free and easy to buy. wake up guys

Posted by Winslow on 01/27/2012

Being an Arsenal fan, I too am upset every time I hear about the lack of transfer or even speculation involving Arsenal. I feel Adam Johnson from Manchester City would be a perfect fit for Arsenal. He can play out wide where we need it and he doesn't get the time he deserves with Manchester City. Start spending Wenger!
