Manchester City are set to make Roma star Daniele de Rossi their first signing of the January transfer window, according to The Sun. The midfielder, 28, has been a long-term target of City boss Roberto Mancini, who has made no secret of his desire to capture the Italian international.

Swansea City have agreed a loan deal with German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson until the end of the season, subject to Premier League clearance.

Barcelona have agreed a one-year contract extension with back-up goalkeeper Jose Manuel Pinto, the European champions have announced. Full story

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri says PSG target Alexandre Pato will not leave the San Siro in January. "Pato wants to stay and my wish is that he does not leave," Allegri told reporters.

Comment from Arvs: Why didn't anybody pick up Anelka from Chelsea? He is still an excellent poacher and certainly might score a better percentage of goals than Andy Carroll at Liverpool. He was after all, top scorer for the Blues for two seasons not long ago.

Newcastle United transfer target Aly Cissokho has cooled talk that he will be quiting Lyon and heading for the Premier League during the January transfer window. Full story

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has insisted he won't let Scotland star Graham Dorrans move to Ibrox. Rangers boss Ally McCoist has admitted he’s keen on the midfield ace, 24, but when asked about a possible move, Hodgson said: "No, I’m not interested."

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish says there is no chance striker Darren Bent will leave for Liverpool during the January transfer window. McLeish said: "He won't be leaving." Full story

Comment from Anish Chattaraj: Why are Liverpool going after Bent? He is good, but not good enough for £24 million.......Liverpool should go after Fernando Llorente or Higuain.

Wolves are interested in West Ham United striker Frederic Piquionne, according to the Daily Mail. The 33-year-old is available for a cut-price fee as West Ham look to bring in Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard and Fulham’s Bobby Zamora.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says rebel Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez will provide AC Milan with an "extra weapon" if he completes his proposed switch to the San Siro. Full story

Chelsea are locked in talks with Real Madrid over a £25 million move for Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to the Daily Express. After the disastrous 3-1 defeat by Aston Villa on New Year’s Eve that ended any hopes of the title for Roman Abramovich’s club, the Russian owner has stepped up efforts to back under pressure manager Andre Villas-Boas with squad reinforcements.

Comment from Jacc: Madrid will never sell Higuain in this situation because Jose Mourinho is not stupid enough to sell one of only two stirkers.

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has joined Premier League rivals QPR on loan until the end of the season. QPR manager Neil Warnock has targeted four new players to boost his "small squad" and Macheda, 20, becomes the London club's first signing of the January transfer
window. Full story

Tottenham are set to raid Blackburn for giant centre-half Chris Samba in an £8million swoop, claims The Mirror. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has been put on alert that owners Venky’s may sell a star in the window.

Although, the Daily Mail insist the star to be sold will be winger Junior Hoilett, while other reports link midfielder Steven N'Zonzi with Chelsea.

The Blues are also tracking 17-year-old Crewe forward Nick Powell, according the The Mirror. Arsenal and Chelsea both saw the 6'1" sensation in dazzling form against Bristol Rovers and are poised to make bids as business opens in the market.

I guess nobody cares about Financial Fair Play?

Posted by Mozy on 01/02/2012

Any news about Liverpool? I think we need a sharper striker

Posted by Prem Varges on 01/02/2012

It will be Great To See Henry, Robin & Podolski playing Upfront!!!

Posted by Anish Chattaraj on 01/02/2012

Why are Liverpool going after Bent? He is good, but not good enough for £24 million.......Liverpool should go after Fernando Llorente or Higuain.

Posted by Waterboy on 01/02/2012

24M for Bent? I rather pay 25M for Higuain...

Posted by Anonymous on 01/02/2012

I saw someone predict Samba to Tottenham in this window at "thetruefansports.blogspot.com"

Posted by Joe on 01/02/2012

I hope Liverpool will spend their money wisely instead of going blindly for English players with inflated price tags.

Posted by jacc on 01/02/2012

madrid will never sell higuain in this situation because mourinho is not stupid to sell one of only two stirkers. . .

Posted by johnnydman23 on 01/02/2012

liverpool should sell carrol and buy 2 strikers Llorent and possibly Kenwyne Jones a big versatile centre foward that Dalglish could make extremly better

Posted by mike on 01/02/2012

12.5 million for podolski? really?! that sounds like too much of a bargain to be true, even if his contract expires in 2013. suggest wenger snap him up pronto, before the fc koln accountants realise they've made a mistake!

Posted by Gunnar Már on 01/02/2012

What Liverpool need is to strengthen their midfield by buying Dembela from Fulham! Our attackers needs more support up front and they would get that with Dembela.

Best regards from snowy Iceland,
Gunnar Már

wth darren bent isnt worth 24 mil- with that kind of money they could bring in a higuain or damiao

Posted by alf on 01/02/2012

Top 6 reinforcements:
-Manu: a right back & an anchor man -m'vila-.
-Mancity: a playmaker.
-Arsenal: henry & podolski & bridge on loan is enough.
-Spurs: a fit centre back.
-Liverpool: A winger -jarvis- & a striker -defoe-.
-Chelsea: Right back & central defender & winger -heitinga & gary cahill & albrighton-.

Posted by Thierry on 01/02/2012

what liverpool needs is a quality centre back

Posted by unitedevil_Saleh on 01/02/2012

NO MAN UNITED NEWS?

Posted by bonti banna on 01/02/2012

bring on Podolsky, Y'M Villa, wayne Bridge for loan... U will see Arsenal invincibly once again.. Up gunners

Posted by @solo on 01/02/2012

I believe with Henry upfront, we are going to see a return of the famous blitz counter from Arsenal! can't wait!

Posted by Nathan on 01/02/2012

Tottenham always going after big, strong CBs. Hopefully he is a good addition to a back line that is needed to keep in CL contention.

Posted by Ben M. on 01/02/2012

If Man U buy anyone this window, which is not highly likely, I think a defender makes more sense than a midfielder. At the beginning of the season, no one was saying we needed a top-class central midfielder. Then Cleverley, Anderson, and Fletcher all went out with injuries but Ferguson is building a long-term team, so he's not going to make big-money purchases just to cover some injuries, since he seems happy with his midfield options, barring injuries. With that said, Nemanja Vidic is out with a serious long-term injury and Rio Ferdinand is clearly incapable of playing even half the games anymore. If he keeps up this pace, he may be going the way of Gary Neville. Our failure to sign Raphael Varane over the summer has perhaps surprisingly come back to bite us already. I think it would make sense to sign a quality defender, either a center back (to signal the true end of the Ferdinand/Vidic era) or a specialist fullback (to give Smalling and Jones more reps at center back).

Posted by Anonymous on 01/02/2012

man utd should buy hoilett

Posted by Junaid kadri on 01/02/2012

I think Sir AF has to buy or loan.. We have 11 players injured. Half a team.. Basically it was one whole First 11. If he doesn't buy his making a mistake.. Sneijder wont come as his involved with UCL.. Somebody that is involved in UCL wont come move to United

Posted by Arvs on 01/02/2012

Any news on Poldolski and left back for Arsenal ?

Posted by Rajeshwaran on 01/02/2012

Andy Carroll should be sold to buy a much more solid striker like Higuain.

Posted by Ayush Moitra on 01/02/2012

After Vidic's injury,I think manchester united's defence has become fragile!Day before yesterday De Gea was not up to the mark but our defence did not not help him either!United should buy a centre back!Hopefully cleverley is back soon!

Posted by Alex on 01/02/2012

Looking forward to see Wenger make some signings especially defenders. If we could get Ogbonna, Abate,Cissokho that would be great.

Posted by lopez on 01/02/2012

seriosly mancini, daniel de rossi? huh?

Posted by ukes9 on 01/02/2012

chelsea should dip in for rather a creative midfielder typical no 10 rather than a striker .fernando it the already to strike

Posted by Mattan on 01/02/2012

Arsene, BUY SHAQIRI!

Posted by FreedomLimosDE on 01/02/2012

Chelsea needs a creative midfielder like Otzil. Kaka would be a great purchase also for Chelsea. In attack, they should get rid of Drogba and Kalou and pay the money for Tevez. Tevez is a winner despite his character. Imagine Tevez and Torres (Torres will come back if he's given more games without being substituted) together upfront with Otzil or Kaka as support. O my God!

Posted by Alex on 01/02/2012

Why are Chelsea going after Higuain? He misses the target so many times. They should try to get more reliable strikers like Seydou Doumbia, Lucas Barrios, Loic Remy, Abel Hernandez, Papiss Cisse or maybe Jordan and Andre Ayew.

Posted by wadio on 01/02/2012

Chelsea should buy a creative midfielder and a proven striker. Higuain and modric should the main target.

If any liverpool official see this hope they will wake up.... after spending so much money on misfired strikers this past seasons pls get a decent one that really worth it (look at Carroll ...worth 35 mil ??? ) Hulk from porto is worth considering

Posted by Chelsea Fan on 01/02/2012

£25 million for Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain? That is dirt cheap for a quality player compare to Torres. There is no way real Madrid would sell him, he is the 2nd leading scorer after Ronaldo..

Posted by Chelsea Fan on 01/02/2012

Why would City want to sign midfielder Daniele de Rossi? They already have top quality midfielder, won't be surprised if some players request a transfer or Manchini might want to off load some of them..

Posted by Fahad ur rehman on 01/02/2012

Arsenal should go for Eden Hazard and try to sell Wallcott!

Fahad from Pakistan

Posted by Bilal on 01/02/2012

Liverpool should send Carroll on loan since they won't be able to sell him for anywhere close to even 25 million. That said Liverpool do need a creative midfielder and a pure striker like Podolski or Higuain. Someone who can finish the chances created by Suarez and Gerrard

Posted by tom clasius on 01/02/2012

podolski at arsenal yes....but i would be happy with demba ba.... even though he will be in african cup....would be great signing for future

Posted by nilo96 on 01/02/2012

Chelsea should have signed Neymar when they had a chance. Now they really need a strong attack-minded youthful player. Since they have apparently lost out on him they should step up their interest in players like, goetze, hazard, and lucas from Sao Paolo. If they get these players they'll challenge for titles in the long term.

Posted by Ranjan_89 on 01/02/2012

I still can't believe that there are people stupid enough to even think about first team regulars of Madrid to leave. Most players dream about playing for Madrid guys. We won't sell or buy our regulars in this window. Hala Madrid!

Posted by Mike on 01/02/2012

Llorente is a local boy and is his club's hero, and as long as they at least compete, he will stay there.

Higuain scores a ridiculous amount of goals for Madrid and is 1 of only 2 strikers there. Mourinho is not an idiot and would not sell him.

Liverpool already have 4 good centerbacks, they don't need another one especially since Samba wouldn't even start and signed a new massive contract last january

They also do not need Dembele who has flashy build up and cannot score. We already have plenty of midfielders who can't score! Then even have 1 on loan to Lille..

If someone wants to go for Darren Bent, now is the time, for sure. I also wonder where Andy Johnson will go, $10 says the Championship.

Posted by ifeanyi kenneth on 01/02/2012

Andy Carroll should be sold at even 3.5 million pounds and better players bought .He is not qualified to be a red

Posted by Lols on 01/03/2012

Sell Higuain? That must be the joke of the new year. I guess some journalists just sit in their little corners and fabricate false stories.
And for Man U, I really don't care.

Posted by Marvin Cox on 01/03/2012

Why won't United but a center mid was a big problem from last year no goals from the mid and scholes retireing does not help sign a good young talent that will stay for years to come Erickson Gotze Ganso yes they are pricey but if they establish a powerful midfield with rooney and chicha up top for years to come is that not worth it? where has he Ronaldo money gone?

Posted by nzy on 01/03/2012

Higuain is one of the deadliest strikers in the world. Madrid won't sell him and even if they do, it would be in the region of 45million and up.

Posted by nzy on 01/03/2012

Liverpool could actually pick up tevez. Any thoughts on this?

Posted by Anonymous on 01/03/2012

WELL chelsea buying a new striker again? well i dont know who will play and who will sit because sturridge has been in tremendous form and el nino needs time and higuain deal maybe possible because real madrid can go for shopping and buy an expensive player at any point of time so i guess the deal is quite possible!!

Posted by michael on 01/03/2012

chelsea should try to buy mamadou diarra from real madrid and pato from milan

Posted by kombo on 01/03/2012

chelsea needs to sign defenders and a strong striker.

Posted by shyam lamichhane on 01/03/2012

Liverpool needs 1 or 2 defenders instead of looking strikers because Maxi & Kyut will be the another striking option for liverpool

Posted by romario I-Romanista on 01/03/2012

it's conflicting reports on De rossi's ststus! why, would the roman heir to totti's throne leave and roma offering him 6 million per season!

yall think spurs can land barca starlet cuenca on loan, he unhapy at barcA.

Posted by kevin on 01/05/2012

Liverpool need to buy a striker - maybe bring Torres back or sign Tevez, Ba or Dembele and sell Andy Carroll.

Posted by hadri on 01/05/2012

Manchester United must buy a midfielder and center back

Posted by Jay on 01/06/2012

Arsenal : Doesn't need to buy a new striker. Just have to use their young player and Henry is enough even though he's old, he have a great experience.
Chelsea : why waste money on Higuain ? Look at these player. Yaya Sanogo. He'll become a great player in the future.
Liv : Don't need new player. Just let the current player adapt with the strategy. Gerrard plus Adam is good combo.
MC : Like Mancini always do. Wastin money on unnecessary player. There are many player better than the player of MC though cheaper.
Hopefully,QPR can win this EPL this season. :)

Posted by kipper on 01/06/2012

How much will you pay for Andy Carroll in Jan? 5 million pounds at most, but because he is English, so he should max out at 10 million pounds. It will be the greatest news for Liverpool in 2012 if they can re-capture Torres at a hugely discounted price.

Posted by Boris on 01/09/2012

Who is writing these articles and what is the logic? I would never read any article as ridiculous and ignorantly titled as this. De Rossi? Send him to the Bundesliga or American Soccer or the Tippenligan or Mars, Manchester City has pride, money, and talent. Why would they need De Rossi? He brings nothing. They do need a stike force besides the Argentinian midget and bi polar Italian but that's not found in a midfielder who isn't even in the top 25 half backs in the game.

Posted by shivang mehta on 01/11/2012

arsenal reportedly signed saurez no not the racist one. the suarez at anderlecht has agreed a pre-contract with the gunners.

Posted by muhammad inamkhan on 01/11/2012

manchester city need de rossi ,Arsenal need to sign demba ba. i am really delighted to see henry in arsenal shirt but i m manchester city fan.i think they should play nasri , milner and david silva in the absence of yaya toure.for roberto mancini i will give him one advice to bring gonzalo hugain from real madrid and let eden dzeko go somewhere else.they r a strong team in this season just bcoz of david silva and yaya toure.tottenham should buy chris samba to bloster there defence.i will say best of luck to manchester city for up coming premiere league matches.
