00.00 GMT: Right folks, that's all we've got time for tonight but be sure to join us again for more fun-filled transfer-related activity on Friday. If you're a Man Utd fan, get your party poppers at the ready for the departure of Darron Gibson.

23.21 GMT: FULL STORY on Darron Gibson's potential switch to Everton.

22.43 GMT: Santos want Porto's Jorge Facile, according to the Brazilian club's vice president Odilio Rodrigues Filho: "Fucile's name is one of those we are considering, he has earned praise, but his arrival has nothing to do with the problem we have with Porto right now."

22.22 GMT: FUL:L STORY on AC Milan giving up on Carlos Tevez.

22.03 GMT:

Comment from Robert: "Man City need to lower their expectations on any Tevez transfer. He's clearly not going to play for them every again, and 35 million pounds seems pretty high for a player who won't play for the club. Is a 20 million cut deal so bad? Take it or leave it..."

21.42 GMT: Bit of left-field one here, as Angolan side Kabuscorp are apparently trying to bring Rivaldo to Africa. Club president Bento Kangamba said: "The opportunity for us to sign Rivaldo came up and we are committed to making this happen. People talk about his age a lot, but a player with his quality and experience still has a lot to give to football, and hopefully Angola."

21.24 GMT: Dnipro midfielder Giuliano has welcomed reports that Gremio want to take him back to Brazil: "My agent presented me with the enquiries from Gremio, who are interested in signing me. We have barely spoken since then but from that Gremio came in with a serious offer and are working hard to bring me back to Brazil."

21.11 GMT: More on Gary Cahill...but not from Chelsea or Bolton. It's that man with a view on every transfer, Mr Harry Redknapp: "Cahill is a good player, but Dawson is a
good player, King is a good player, Gallas is a good player, Kaboul has been a top player this season and I've got Bassong. `It's a difficult one. I've chased him for two years and I do like him. I think he's a top-class centre-half.''

20.55 GMT: Rumour has it that Darron Gibson has had a medical with Everton and could complete his move from Man Utd on Friday.

20.36 GMT: Juventus are chasing highly-rated Atalanta striker Gabbiadini.
The Italy Under-21 international is not even a regular for his current club yet, but Atalanta sporting director Pierpaolo Marino revealed: “Something is happening. There has been contact with Juventus, but we cannot speak in terms of days it will take to reach an agreement. You will see later.”

20.19 GMT: Not a transfer story, but a greatone nontheless - Mario Balotelli takes an unnanounced toilet break at a Manchester school. FULL STORY.

20.03 GMT: Man City winger Vladimir Weiss says he will soon have to begin considering his future. The Slovakia international is currently on loan at Espanyol, but his father says he has five offers on the table. Weiss said: "My City contract expires in summer 2013. I will soon have to ponder the question whether to extend a new contract there or move on."

19.55 GMT: Standard Liege defensive midfelder Pape Abdou Camara has joined Valenciennes on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

19.32 GMT PSG have signed 37-year-old goalkeeper Ronan Le Crom ona six-month deal after impressing on trial this week.

19.17 GMT: Football Italia reckons Milan have now completely given up on Carlos Tevez and will go back in for Catania's Maxi Lopez. He must feel great to be so wanted.

19.01 GMT: West Ham look set to secure the services of FC Dallas defender George John. Hammers boss Sam Allardyce said: "He's a good defender, of the right stature and the right ability and the right ambition who sees his future in this country,” he said.

18.50 GMT: Lazio have signed Uruguay striker Emiliano Alfaro from Liverpool de Montevideo.

18.33 GMT: Swansea have cancelled David Cotterill's contract by mutual consent only two years after he became their record signing.

18.22 GMT: Breaking news from our man Harry Harris. The Carlos Tevez to AC Milan deal is not dead, but the bid of over €20 million was rejected. City insists they want €35 million. FULL STORY

17.59 GMT: Sheffield Wednesday complete the signing of Mike Jones from Bury on a two and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee.

17.25 GMT: Bolton manager Owen Coyle on reports linking Kevin Davies to Sam Allardyce's West Ham: "Kevin Davies is my captain and a big part of our plans, as he always has been. There is nothing factual in the West Ham link. I have had no dialogue with Sam."

17.10 GMT: Reports spreading that the Tevez to Milan deal has indeed collapsed. When will this saga end? Goodness.

16.55 GMT: However, in a deal seemingly interlinked with the Pato to PSG switch, Sky Sports are reporting that AC Milan have failed to reach agreement with Manchester City over Carlos Tevez.

16.41 GMT: Paris St Germain's sporting director Leonardo has been speaking about the possibility of landing Pato: "I'm optimistic, but I don't think the negotiations will be finalised by the weekend," he said.

16.29 GMT: Celtic defender Thomas Rogne doesn’t think the Bhoys need any more signings this month. “What happens in the transfer window is up to the manager and if someone comes in then great, but I think we have a very good squad and we don't really need any new players.”

16.21 GMT: @tomEurosport tweets: "Reports in Italy that Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has said the Tevez deal is off, following Pato's decision to snub PSG."

16.11 GMT: Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers on the proposed loan signing of Josh McEachran: “We have made an agreement with Chelsea, but they have one or two injuries so we are just waiting to hear when he will be allowed to come. The important thing is we have found an agreement, which is fantastic. I understand he will still be at Chelsea this weekend, but if there is any movement it will be in the early part of next week.”

15.55 GMT: BREAKING NEWS Steven Gerrard has signed a contract extension at Liverpool to commit his long-term future to the club.

15.48 GMT: Ezequiel Lavezzi’s agent says he is staying at Napoli despite the arrival of Eduardo Vargas. “It is absolutely not true that the arrival of Vargas preludes the departure of Lavezzi,” Alejandro Mazzoni told Radio Kiss Kiss. “Napoli is always thinking ahead but when you say that Inter pulled out of the race for Vargas so as to sign Lavezzi, it is one big lie. Lavezzi will not be leaving, he is not on the market.”

15.31 GMT: Gary Megson, boss of ‘Barcelona of League One’ side Sheffield Wednesday, has rubbished talk of a move for Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey. "We could not get anywhere near Heskey even if we wanted to,” Megson said. Wednesday are likely to sign Bury winger Mike Jones, though, apparently.

15.17 GMT: Sky Sports News is now saying, as a couple of papers did this morning, that Everton are in talks with Manchester United over the signing of Darron Gibson.

15.12 GMT: AC Milan director of sport Ariedo Braida has said talk that PSG have agreed a fee for Alexandre Pato is inaccurate: "The truth is that there's been no agreement with PSG."

14.55 GMT: Fulham boss Martin Jol, asked about Blackburn’s reported bid for Andy Johnson, said: “I feel if people want to speculate about that maybe there is not a lot to write about. But there is not a lot of movement, I will tell you that. There is nothing going on at the moment.”

14.39 GMT: Tuttosport claims Juventus have held talks with Manchester City over the signing of Aleksandar Kolarov. The former Lazio left-back is behind Gael Clichy in the pecking order at City.

14.23 GMT: DONE DEAL Paris St Germain have confirmed the signing of Maxwell from Barcelona.

14.22 GMT: Calciomercato.com says Tottenham are refusing to sell Gareth Bale to Juventus. Quelle surprise.

14.09 GMT: Yet more on the Pato front. Massimiliano Allegri has told Corriere della Sera: "I really don't believe that this [Sunday's match] will be Pato's last derby." That said, those quotes could well be from before this apparent deal was reached - AFP can be trusted on these matters...

13.57 GMT: And, in a piece of news possibly related to the Pato 'deal', Inter president Massimo Moratti has seemingly given up hope of signing Carlos Tevez: "I think Tevez will sign for Milan. That's football."

13.53 GMT: PATO TO PSG? AFP is reporting that PSG have agreed a deal with AC Milan worth €35 million to take Pato to Paris. It'll be €28 million up front and a further €7 million in add-ons apparently.

13.49 GMT: Remember when Harry Redknapp said he’d never heard of Ganso? Goal.com thinks Santos were so upset that they’ve now offered their star midfielder to Spurs for €18 million. Well, Goal.com actually thinks Redknapp was telling porkies and that “Ganso comes recommended by Tottenham’s chief scout, Ian Broomfield, who was the driving force behind the club’s €9.6m swoop for defensive midfielder Sandro in 2010”.

13.36 GMT: Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill is determined to keep midfielder Craig Gardner on Wearside despite suitors looking to cash in on his homesickness. Story here.

13.26 GMT: AVB just keeps on giving: he says progress over Gary Cahill and a deal could be finalised soon.

13.24 GMT: And yet more: AVB confirmed Josh McEachran will go out on loan for the rest of the season - presumably to Swansea - after Saturday's game with Sunderland.

13.22 GMT: Villas-Boas also denied that Chelsea had made a reported £25 million bid for Lille star Eden Hazard but admitted he was a fan of the player.

13.19 GMT: Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed another Premier League club - which is almost certainly QPR - have bid for Alex. Story here.

13.03 GMT: DONE DEAL: Reading have signed striker Karl Sheppard on a free transfer after his Shamrock Rovers contract expired.

12.59 GMT: DONE DEAL: Hibernian have signed 20-year-old right-back George Francomb on loan from Norwich until June.

12.52 GMT: Bordeaux have now confirmed they have reached an agreement to sign midfielder Ludovic Obraniak from Lille.

12.45 GMT: The Lancashire Telegraph's Andy Cryer also understands from Blackburn that Chris Samba will not be allowed to leave Ewood Park.

12.26 GMT: DONE DEAL West Brom striker Chris Wood has joined Bristol City on loan.

12.20 GMT: PSG have reportedly upped their offer for Alexandre Pato to €33 million. AC Milan had earlier rejected a €28 million one, it’s claimed.

12.11 GMT: ...and the Lancashire Telegraph's Andy Cryer has now done his own checking with Rovers and confirmed a bid has indeed been lodged for Johnson.

11.55 GMT: Sky Sports News is reporting that Blackburn have now lodged a bid with Fulham for striker Andy Johnson.

11.53 GMT: MARCA thinks Shanghai Shenua have joined PSG in the battle for Kaka. Jose Mourinho and the player himself have indicated that he’ll be staying at Real Madrid, but things are getting awfully smoky and it might just be that there’s a fire.

11.28 GMT: Reader comment from dommeh419:

“Lucas Anderson's a really top prospect, Liverpool or Dortmund would do really well to sign him, surprised other teams aren't interested.”

11.15 GMT: Chris Samba wants out of Blackburn. “I tried to maintain my level of performance but I sense that it is time for a change. The club doesn't evolve at all. I'm resigned,” he told L’Equipe. “I've always put the interests of the club before my own. I've invested a lot, always tried to lead by example, but things have not gone as I was told. I hope people will understand me.” Story here.

10.52 GMT: Espanyol have confirmed that goalkeeper Carlos Kameni is on the verge of joining Malaga. “The deal is imminent,” CEO Joan Collet said.

10.36 GMT: Bolton boss Owen Coyle on Gary Cahill’s move: “Dialogue continues between Gary's agent and Chelsea. We accept it has probably been long-drawn. It is over two weeks ago that we agreed a fee, but sometimes that is the nature of football business. It can take that period of time. Gary is a Bolton player and until I hear something different in terms of negotiations being concluded between both parties, he will be in line to play against Manchester United.” Story here, including the latest on Tim Ream.

10.26 GMT: Sport thinks that, as well as Jordi Alba, Barca still want AC Milan centre-back Thiago Silva.

10.16 GMT: El Mundo Deportivo thinks Spain left-back Jordi Alba, who can also play left midfield, could be set for Barcelona. It seems he’s not renewing his deal at Valencia and Barca need to bolster the position with Maxwell on his way to PSG.

10.04 GMT: BREAKING NEWS Aston Villa have signed LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane on loan until February 25, subject to international clearance. Story here.

10.00 GMT: Read Kenny Dalglish’s angry comments about silly media stories that Liverpool might sell Andy Carroll back to Newcastle (madness!) here.

09.48 GMT: Lille midfielder Ludovic Obraniak is on the verge of signing for Bordeaux, according to France Football.

09.37 GMT: AaB midfielder Lucas Andersen, 17, is apparently attracting the interest of Ajax, Liverpool and Dortmund. Aab sporting director Lynge Jakobsen told BT “I think Lucas might be the most valuable asset we’ve had since Gronkjaer.”

09.27 GMT: Full story on Leed United's proposed signing of USA international Robbie Rogers is here.

09.21 GMT: Another one from the Mirror - Manchester City are looking to relieve Manchester United of Paul Pogba, who's out of contract at the end of the season and rejected an extension recently after, Fergie suggested, receiving some bad advice from his agent. Arsenal, Inter and AC Milan are also apparently having a think about signing the 18-year-old.

09.09 GMT: Aston Villa expect striker Robbie Keane's two-month loan move from Los Angeles Galaxy to be completed this morning.

09.00 GMT: Brazilian left-back Maxwell could wrap up a move to Paris St-Germain from Barcelona today after travelling to the French capital on Wednesday night. Barcelona confirmed in a statement they have reached a preliminary agreement with big-spending PSG to sell the 30-year-old, who must now agree a contract and pass a medical before completing the transfer. No fee has been disclosed.

08.56 GMT: Here's the story of how Mario Balotelli is too expensive to return to Serie A.

08.51 GMT: Wilfried Zaha has been advised to stay at Crystal Palace despite interest from Liverpool and Newcastle, lest he follow in the footsteps of forgotten man John Bostock. Story here.

08.49 GMT: The Independent has a more confident take on this morning's lead gossip: "Chelsea are hopeful of completing the deal for Bolton Wanderers' Gary Cahill today following delays over the buying club's insistence that new financial fair play regulations (FFP) mean they are prepared to pay him a relatively low – by their standards – £50,000 a week."

08.46 GMT: Luis Suarez won't let "hate mobs drive him out of English football", the Daily Star says, and the paper has some quotes to back up their claim: “I was so excited to sign for Liverpool. It was a dream come true and I hope for a long career with them. I grew up watching them and they are a club with such a big history, especially in the Champions League.”

08.30 GMT: Good morning and welcome to the paper round-up. There's plenty around this morning, but today apparently is the day that Gary Cahill will be forced to decide whether he actually wants to play for Chelsea or not.

QPR will sign Chelsea centre-back Alex for £3 million and are also keen on Nedum Onuoha and Wayne Bridge ... Sir Alex Ferguson has told Darron Gibson he is free to leave and could join Everton for £2.5 million ... Swansea are desperate to sign Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard and are offering Leroy Lita and Stephen Dobbie in part-exchange.

Daily Mail: AC Milan have offered Manchester City the chance to take Germany Under-20 midfielder Alexander Merkel as part of the Carlos Tevez deal ... Tottenham have bid £7.5 million for Blackburn defender Chris Samba after QPR expressed an interest ... Galatasaray are ready to offer £8 million for Dirk Kuyt ... Bayern Munich are being linked with Dimitar Berbatov ... Newcastle are attempting to secure first option on Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha ... Everton are closing in on a £1 million deal for Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson.

The Sun: Chelsea and Manchester United are battling it out for River Plate’s £8 million rated 17-year-old winger Lucas Ocampos ... Mario Balotelli could extend his Manchester City contract as agent Mino Raiola thinks that, at £50 million-plus, he is too “big” for Italian football ... Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel could make a loan move to the Championship ... Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Columbus Crew winger Robbie Rogers but still have to secure a work permit ... Tottenham could beat West Ham to the signing of Evian striker Yannick Sagbo.

Daily Telegraph: Manchester United have put hotly-tipped 18-year-old Ravel Morrison up for sale having "lost patience with his repeated truancy from training" and Newcastle are readying another bid after seeing a £500k offer rejected last week ... Spurs are the clear favourites to sign Chris Samba.

Cahill is just waiting for Utd or City to come in. Chelsea should say go then and kill the deal

Posted by dommeh419 on 01/12/2012

Lucas Anderson's a really top prospect, Liverpool or Dortmund would do really well to sign him, surprised other teams aren't interested. Also I'm going to start calling Cahill C**thill if this keeps up... you're being offered an escape from a ship that looks destined to sink and you want to be paid like Ashley Cole? Become the best central defender in England like Cole's the best left-back and then MAYBE we'll talk.

Posted by Andy on 01/12/2012

Miquel isn't going anywhere. Too many injuries, and he has played really well at left back so far.

Posted by nana on 01/12/2012

Chelsea be serious and buy Cahill for our defence is not good.

Posted by Alex on 01/12/2012

A few days ago I saw an article suggesting that Matias Suarez was coming to Arsenal in the summer. Could you confirm this as there has been almost no transfer news for the Gunners.

Posted by Kyle on 01/12/2012

Rogers to Leeds will end up about as well as Eddie Johnson to Fulham. Actually it will be worse because at least Johnson had the potential and just couldn't fulfill. The only reason Leeds even look at him is b/c Klinsmann has an affinity for him. they both played in some California amateur league many years back. He has decent foot skills but no vision and no sense of position. His athleticism doesn't exactly overwhelm.

Gary cahil is waiting 4 man u, arsenal, man city 2 com.

Posted by geixo on 01/12/2012

Liverpool need a new strier (obviously) and a def midfielder. No way there's any need to loan Castaignos from Inter. What Reds need is a bulletproof goal machine. Diego Milito or someone else experienced deadly finisher who can provide from tens of opportunities every game Liverpool creates. It would also take the attention away from Carroll who would benefit from it. And the dmf. He has to be big to win the headers and an accurate short-passer. No need for a player like van Bommel or de Jong who plays hard. Other players has proved to be aggressive sliding tacklers. Barry or Seydou Keita is the answer to the prayers. Barry seems to be out of reach, but Keita is African and look how well African dmfs are adapted to the game in England.

Posted by Barbarossa on 01/12/2012

Newcastle should buy Zaha, sign him to a four-and-a-half year deal (with a club option for another year), then loan him back to Palace for the remainder of this season and next. That way he keeps getting first team football and his development is not stunted on the bench.

Posted by deen on 01/12/2012

Liverpool should go for Pato.He is fast, technically gifted and him playing with suarez,Liverpool's attacking force will be feared.Rather than letting Pato go to the likes of PSG.

Posted by Mats on 01/12/2012

I think for Rogers it's a good move though... big gap between MLS performance and USMNT performance, it's time for him to push himself to see what's really there. For Leeds, well, we'll see.

Posted by Nathan on 01/12/2012

Spurs need to sign Samba immediately to play the upcoming match against City. I don't want Dawson out there against Aguero and the like.

Posted by YT on 01/12/2012

OMG Ganso for 18mil is a real steal!

Chelsea should buy both hamsik and ganso. with a combined total cost less than di maria!

Posted by Nate on 01/12/2012

Where does Ganso fit for Spurs? I am no Spurs fan, actually I'm a Arsenal fan, but I think it would be great to see Ganso in the Premier League. He can't play on the wings because of a lack of pace and he has no shot at beating out Modric, van der Vaart, or Parker. Seems like a waste of 18 million

Posted by Zorawar Singh on 01/12/2012

I hope that Eden Hazard is transferred to Chelsea from Lille as it would benefit Chelsea and the player greatly, Its surprising that only Chelsea are rumored to bid for him as I think hes one of the brightest stars in Europe and would become one of the best players of the game, even though he may be a little expensive for a 21 year old.
Don't you think that the prices for players have gone through the roof

Posted by unknown on 01/12/2012

I think Mancini & Tevez should just settle their differences. Just apologize to each other publicly and end this silly saga. Let's face it, they both need each other.

Posted by mattan on 01/12/2012

ARSENE, BUY SHAQIRI

Posted by JP on 01/12/2012

I understand the transfer window is about posturing and getting the best deal you can all month long. Wouldn't you think getting your targets signed earlier than later would benefit more? Look at Arsenal, it took their 11th hour signings almost 6 weeks and a beating from Man U to get acquainted with their team. Yet they got Henry in and he scored the winner vs. Leeds. I guess its all just a big gamble...

Posted by Robert on 01/12/2012

Man City need to lower their expectations on any Tevez transfer. He's clearly not going to play for them every again, and 35 million pounds seems pretty high for a player who won't play for the club. Is a 20 million cut deal so bad? Take it or leave it...

Posted by Simon on 01/13/2012

Liverpool should go for Podolski and Eden Hazad to boost mildfield and attack.
