23.20 GMT The Guardian report that Mark Hughes wants Henrique, a 20-year-old Brazilian striker who won the golden shoe at last summer's under-20 World Cup, to spearhead his rebuilding of Queens Park Rangers, with a deal to sign him from São Paulo "getting close".

22.45 GMT Tottenham have an ambitious plan to land Marseille's £20million France striker Loic Remy and Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul to boost their Premier League title bid, according to the Daily Mail.

22.01 GMT Chelsea are considering a bid for River Plate winger Lucas Ocampos, according to reports from South America. The 17-year-old is thought to be worth £8 million.

20.21 GMT Reports in the French press suggest Paris Saint-Germain have made an offer for Inter’s Douglas Maicon. "Leonardo is trying to set up an extraordinary team in Paris with Ancelotti, so it’s only normal they’d want Maicon," agent Roberto Calenda told Maxi Foot.

19.30 GMT Blackburn boss Steve Kean refuted claims Chris Samba refused to play in the 3-1 win against Fulham because he wants a move away from the club. "That's not true," he said.

18.20 GMT: Hermann Hreidarsson is poised to complete a free transfer move to Coventry City, says the Portsmouth News.

18.16 GMT: Chelsea have denied they had agreed a fee with QPR for the sale of defender Alex. Andre Villas-Boas said: "I'm sure that the clubs can reach an agreement if they continue to push. We know Alex's market value and we're just not going to let him go quite easily, not that QPR's offer is far, far off. He is a player that has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League clubs and from abroad." Story

17.50 GMT: Espanyol say they have reached an agreement with goalkeeper Carlos Kameni to break his contract, leaving the Cameroon international free to sign with Malaga.

16.48 GMT: St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas has hit out at Rangers over their handling of the pursuit of Francisco Sandaza and told the Light Blues fans they should be worried about the running of their club.

15.35 GMT: Pep Guardiola will not be signing anyone for Barcelona in January. "We will fall back on our youth players until the end. Going to the market doesn't guarantee anything," he said. "From the very beginning we designed a small squad because we believe in our youth program."

15.05 GMT: Celtic manager Neil Lennon has told the BBC that the Bhoys have rejected "a couple of offers" for Gary Hooper and will "continue to do that". "We don't want to sell our best players, particularly at this stage of this season. I don't want to lose Gary anyway, full stop. I don't think the speculation will bother him one bit in the slightest, he's happy here," said Lennon.

13.50 GMT: Carlos Tevez corner: That loveable rogue Kia Joorabchian says he thinks AC Milan still want his pet golfer, and Corinthians will have to give up on getting Tevez back. That's despite Milan not having the dough to sign him from Manchester City. "Carlitos has a huge debt to Corinthians, but they must accept the fact that he wants to play for AC Milan," Joorabchian told Tuttosport. "The conversations between AC Milan and Manchester City have not yet been completed: there will be other meetings, but we will have to wait and wait and wait ..."

13.45 GMT: Alan Pardew has had a further say on the Andy Carroll links made in the week. "I think it's unfair on the Newcastle public and I think it's unfair on Andy," Pardew told Sky Sports."It was speculative journalism that had no foundation."

13.28 GMT: Rivaldo has confirmed he will be joining Angolan team Kabuscorp. "I received offers from several countries, but I chose Angola because of the language and because I liked the project. 11.34 GMT: Coventry striker Lukas Jutkiewicz is expected to complete a reported £2 million switch to Middlesbrough this weekend.

11.17 GMT: Speaking of Arsenal, Oman international Saad Al-Mukhaini is currently on a two-day trial with the Gunners.

11.01 GMT: He only signed for CSKA Moscow last week, but speedy teenage winger Ahmed Musa already appears to be plotting his next career move, with the Nigerian saying: "Someday I hope that I can play for the Gunners."

10.11 GMT Over in Italy there's a few DONE DEALS - with Cesare Bovo joining Genoa from Palermo, Siena have taken Luigi Giorgi on loan from Novara and Cesena have recalled Michele Gabbianelli and Giacomo Bassoli from loan spells at Bellaria and Santarcangelo respectively.

10.04 GMT Chris Samba missed training on Friday as doubts about his Blackburn future begin to gather at a furious pace.

09.40 GMT: QPR with new manager in tow are understandably at the centre of most transfer talk and Brazilian news outlet Lancenet believes the Rs are keen on Sao Paulo's highly-rated striker Henrique.

And the best of the rest includes The Guardian saying QPR are on the brink of signing Alex, while the Daily Star claims the Rs want Sulley Muntari. Elsewhere the Metro tips Harry Redknapp to make another loan move for David Beckham and The Times reckons that Jermain Defoe is frustrated by his lack of playing time.

09.15 GMT: Welcome to the second full weekend of the January transfer window and those of you looking for a respite from the gossip and rumours had better search elsewhere. If anything, the weekend seems to give the press license to create even more transfer stories, from the ridiculous to the sublime.
