23.16 Genoa have made a move for Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino, who is contracted to the Tuscan club until 2013, according to Sky Sport 24.
22.45 Blackpool have finalised the captures of former Rangers skipper Barry Ferguson and Queen of the South's Bob Harris.
22.24 Portuguese club Benfica have joined Italian duo AC Milan and Juventus in the race to sign Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna, according to La Stampa.
21.54 Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims want-away Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has held talks with Inter Milan's technical director Marco Branca.
21.15 Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has urged teenage winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has been strongly linked with a summer move to Arsenal, to spend another year at St Mary's.
20.57 Inter Milan defender Lucio will end the uncertainty surrounding his future by signing a new deal at the San Siro, according to his agent Sandro Becker.
20.15 The agent of Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has ruled out a return to Italy for the 19-year-old. "Federico is with Manchester United and he is very happy in England," Giovanni Bia said.
19.49 Norwich have confirmed the signing of Tottenham defender Kyle Naughton on a season-long loan deal. Full story
19.35 Barcelona have agreed a deal to sign Alexis Sanchez from Udinese, subject to the winger passing a medical on Monday. Full story
19.08 Valencia might be willing to part with Juan Mata for the right price but it seems the player doesn't want to go and has again insisted he is happy to remain at the Mestalla.
18.16 Rangers have signed USA international Alejandro Bedoya on a pre-contract agreement subject to a work permit, the Ibrox club have confirmed.
17.54 West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has admitted his interest in bringing goalkeeper Ben Foster to The Hawthorns and the Black County club are in talks with Birmingham.
17.30 Rangers have now confirmed they have agreed to sign left-back Lee Wallace from Hearts for £1.5million, subject to passing a medical. Full story
17.10 There a rumours circulating that Chelsea are close to signing Barcelona B defensive midfielder Oriol Romeu. Apparently there are only a few bits and bobs to tie up before securing the 19 year old.
16.29: Stoke are reportedly ready to bid €8 million for Juventus midfielder Momo Sissoko, but they face competition from Hamburg, who are apparently offering €6 million.
16.24: Reader Joshua asks: "Question for Soccernet Staff. If Arsenal want Phil Jagielka why don't they offer Bendtner and a little cash in exchange? Wouldn't that be a win/win for both clubs?"
Exchange deals never seem to happen for whatever reason, but that one would certainly make a lot of sense unless Bendtner wants to join a club that will be competing for silverware.
16.22: Pablo Forlan, Diego’s dad, says his son is happy to stay at Atletico Madrid but added: “Some of the people in charge of the club have failed to give Diego the treatment he deserves, and I don’t understand why they seem to be against the idea of keeping champions at the club.
“I don’t understand why De Gea, Simao and Ujfalusi went - they were great players. I say this with all due respect, but it seems like they don’t want a great team. As Diego’s father, I want them to aspire to be a good club.”
16.11: Stefano Okaka is surplus to requirements at Roma but his agent is confident he’ll sort something else out. “I’ve had a lot of interest in Stefano and believe that, by the close of the transfer window, we’ll have something resolved,” he told ForzaRoma.info. “It’s one year until his contract expires, but I hope this will be dealt with by the end of August. There’s no lack of offers.”
16.07: Sky Italia says the Alexis Sanchez deal will be announced tonight. It sounds like Barca and Udinese have agreed a fee and the player has agreed terms, so it shouldn't take much longer.
16.01: It seems Liverpool will most certainly be drowning in a sea of central midfielders come the new season. “Aquilani will definitely stay at Liverpool,” agent Franco Zavaglia told Radio Mana Mana. “Alberto has gotten over his ankle problem and has all the qualities he needs to regain his place in the national team and do well in the Premier League.”
15.54: Blackburn are awaiting a response from Junior Hoilett after the 21-year-old was offered a new contract. “I had a great talk with his mum and dad in Toronto,” Steve Kean said. “He has since received an offer of a very good healthy contract and the signs are that is progressing well.” Hoilett has one year remaining on his current deal.
15.42: Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey’s agent is to discuss a move to Genoa today.
15.29: Arsenal have been rebuffed in their bid for Phil Jagielka it seems, but reader Ian thinks they should be looking abroad for their new centre-back.
"The loan signing of Greek defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos by Werder Bremen should pave the way for Arsenal to pick up Per Mertesacker. He's available on the cheap, as his contract expires next year. 6 million pounds is the price being tossed around."
15.27: Looks like Denmark defender Simon Kjaer will be staying in Germany. "No proposals have arrived from Roma or Juventus and I know Wolfsburg are relying on Kjaer,” agent Mikkel Beck told Calcio Mercato. “I think he will stay with Wolfsburg.”
15.20: Sky Sports News is also reporting that Arsenal have had a bid for Phil Jagielka rejected in the last 24 hours.
15.15: Adel Taarabt is prepared to stay at QPR if his PSG switch falls through. “We're talking with Paris Saint-Germain, but nothing is done,” he told BBC Sport. “We're very close, but if no deal is reached then I will play for QPR in the Premier League.”
15.07: St Johnstone have signed striker Cillian Sheridan on loan from CSKA Sofia until January. He spent time on loan there in 2010 while he was still a Celtic player.
15.04: Palermo boss Stefano Pioli gives us our daily briefing on Javier Pastore. “There is still no certainty with regard to Pastore,” he said. “I don’t know if I’ll have to design a side with or without him.”
14.50: Hoffenheim sporting director Ernst Tanner has revealed Ghana striker Prince Tagoe could be on his way despite Partizan Belgrade seeing a €1 million bid rejected. “It is very likely that Prince will still leave us,” Tanner said. “This can happen in the next few days, but may drag on for several weeks.”
14.32: Benni McCarthy has been training with Ajax Cape Town and is not ruling out the possibility he will sign up with the club. Full story here.
14.24: ‘Sources close to the deal’ have told A Bola that Liverpool are ready to pay the €20 million release clause to sign Uruguay international Alvaro Pereira from Porto. He can play at left back or left midfield.
14.19: Werder Bremen have signed Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos on a season-long loan from Genoa. The deal, which also includes an option for the Bundesliga side to make the move permanent next summer, was completed today after the player met Werder general manager Klaus Allofs at the team's pre-season training camp in Donaueschingen.
14.09: Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour has announced on his website that he won't be joining Lokomotiv Moscow "for personal reasons". He says his future remains uncertain, but La Dernière Heure believes Porto are now likely to sign him as a replacement for Joao Moutinho. Does that mean Moutinho's on his way to Chelsea?
14.02: Daniele De Rossi is apparently demanding Roma give him a pay-rise amid interest from Manchester City. "Manchester City are ready to offer Roma €23 million for De Rossi and can give him €9 million per annum over four to five years," a ‘source close to Roma’ told Goal.com. "De Rossi is aware of Mancini's interest. He wants economic and technical guarantees from Roma for him to stay.”
13.55: Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has told Bild that Arturo Vidal has gone back on a promise by agreeing to join Juventus. "He has broken his word, but as a South American player's agent was involved I had no great hope. Their words usually mean something else.''
13.47: It’s Blackburn gossip day. Skysports.com says striker Nikola Kalinic has handed in a transfer request.
13.31: DONE DEAL Benfica have announced the signing of 33-year-old Spain left-back Joan Capdevila. He's signed a two-year deal and has a €20 million release clause.
13.19: Getafe are set to beat Wigan to the signing of Hercules striker Nelson Valdes. "My agent is dealing with these things but what I can confirm is that I want to play in Spain and not in another country," the Paraguay international said in AS.
13.13: Hearts have accepted a bid from Rangers for defender Lee Wallace.
13.07: Alberto Aquilani is reportedly prepared to accept a pay-cut to seal a move to Fiorentina.
13.01: Roma defender Cicinho is hopeful team-mate Daniele De Rossi will remain at the club next season. "We all hope he remains," he said. "He is a great player and a wonderful person."
12.53: Gazzetta dello Sport says Gabriel Heinze is on his way to Roma to sign a one-year deal.
12.41: Uh oh. Goal.com is reporting that “a group of third party investors have joined the race to sign Belgian teenager Romelu Lukaku”. That can only be beneficial for the young man.
12.36: Tottenham are, according to Football Italia, reportedly now ready to bid for Roma striker Mirko Vucinic.
12.19: Charles N’Zogbia is reportedly ready to go on strike to seal his move to Villa, but Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is standing firm on his £10 million valuation. “Aston Villa are still offering £9 million and I want £10 million,” he told Goal.com. “They offered nine, and I said 'No thanks, you will have to make it 10 and then you can talk to him'. Other clubs are interested so there is no way I will be going down to £9 million.”
12.12: QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt is meeting with Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo right now, according to Sky Sports News.
12.01: Corriere dello Sport says Inter are interested in signing Carlos Tevez again but City want money rather than Wesley Sneijder. There was talk Tevez already failed to agree terms with Inter, and it’s not clear whether his family would fancy living in Milan, but don’t shoot the messenger.
11.57: On Sunday, Ganso apparently told Brazil team-mate Thiago Silva that he will only leave Santos for AC Milan and is willing to wait. He might be waiting quite a while by the sounds of Galliani's quotes earlier.
11.53: Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi’s representative, Federico Pastorello, is apparently set to travel to Spain today to finalise the details of his move to Juventus.
11.44: RMC reports that Paris St Germain are closing in on the signing of Blaise Matuidi from St Etienne.
11.41: ...and Andoni Zubizarreta has been photographed meeting Alexis Sanchez' agent. The finish line is in sight.
11.38: Sport says Pep Guardiola had lunch with Cesc Fabregas to talk about the Barca project in spring 2010 and they have been in contact by phone ever since, which sounds awfully like tapping up.
11.30: The Premier League clubs battling Blackburn for Pavone are, according to skysports.com, Liverpool, Fulham and Swansea.
11.26: Gsp.ro says Blackburn, Schalke and Marseille are keen on Romania striker Ciprian Marica, who is a free agent after leaving Stuttgart. Apparently he was in Munich to negotiate with Rovers. The 25-year-old had his best years to date with Shakhtar Donetsk.
11.22: We had some of this last night, but here's a little more: AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani says they are not interested in signing Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo or Santos midfielder Ganso. "There are no negotiations in place to sign Montolivo," he said. "Milan does have a vacant place for a non-European player but it's not Ganso."
11.19: The Lancashire Telegraph thinks Blackburn's attempts to sign Mariano Pavone could end in failure with several other English clubs in the mix.
11.16: You'll never guess what Pedro's been asked about at a press conference. "Cesc? Of course we'd like him to join us soon, but it's a complicated situation and it doesn't depend on us," he said.
11.10: Real Sociedad are reported to be keen to sign Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari.
11.00: TV3 says Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu is in London for a fourth meeting with Arsenal about you-know-who.
10.57: FC Groningen managing director Hans Nijland insists his club will not be signing out-of-contract goalkeeper Piet Velthuizen.
10.51: Carlos Tevez looks to be in a bit of a quandary after his move to Corinthians collapsed, but Kia Joorabchian reckons he'll be just fine. Full story here.
10.40: Geert Arend Roorda looks set to stay at Heerenveen next season after talks over a move to Belgian side Standard Liege broke down.
10.34: Roma are still trying to secure a deal for Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, his agent has confirmed. Rob Jansen, quoted in Voetbal International, said: “The negotiations are still very difficult. The clubs are still far apart, but today we continue to negotiate in Amsterdam. Ajax has no set deadline.”
10.24: Twitter talk ESPNsoccernet journalist @andybrassell tweets: “Lucho González's agent was on RMC last night claiming 4 clubs (2 Eng, 2 Ita) are speaking to him. Only 1 of 4 CL-qualified; one of Eng ones”
10.19: Reports in Spain say Alexis Sanchez will move to Barcelona today.
10.15: Harry Redknapp reckons both Manchester clubs are still eager to sign Luka Modric. "Everyone wants Luka,” he told The Sun. “Just ask Alex Ferguson what he thinks of him, ask Roberto Mancini at Manchester City - they all want him. He could play for Barcelona. Luka wants the chance to win things and he is ambitious. All I'll say is that we are too at Tottenham.”

09.49: Twitter talk The BBC's philmcnulty tweets: "Everton, as stated by @MattLawExpress have indeed rejected £10m bid from Arsenal for Jagielka. Offer turned down last summer was £12m."
09.44: Fabricio Coloccini doesn't seem to think his Argentina team-mate Carlos Tevez will be too keen on a move to another European club. "Carlos is thinking about his family and nothing else," he said in The Sun. "He needs to be back in South America or at least close to his kids in Argentina. It has been so difficult for him to continue while they live so far away from him. I know if I was in his situation, I too would find it very hard to cope."

09.22: The ever-reliable BBC seem to be getting involved in a lot of transfer talk lately, and here is what they have had to say about the goings-on at Eastlands.
"Manchester City are hoping to finalise the signing of Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero despite the collapse of Carlos Tevez's move to Corinthians. BBC Sport understands no deal has been struck yet but negotiations are progressing smoothly."
09.13: Sky Sports News says Anderlecht are valuing Romelu Lukaku at just over 20 million. We presume that's £20 million rather than €20 million, but we can only guess.
09.07: Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini praised Wesley Sneijder after the 4-1 friendly victory over Cremonese yesterday. Inter adopted a 3-4-3 formation and there had been suggestions Sneijder wouldn't fit in to the new coach's tactical plans, but Gasperini said: “Sneijder does very well in the centre and was the freshest player on the park. Seeing him play with such hunger is encouraging, as he’s doing what we need right now.”
09.05: Fulham left-back John Arne Riise says some Liverpool fans wanted him back at Anfield. "I've heard people say they haven't really replaced me but that is not my concern," he said. "If they wanted me back they could have made an effort. I know a few of the fans wanted me back."
08.51: Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf has been linked with a move to Blackpool but he said: "I never heard anything about that. I am here. People are just saying things. I have to know before anyone else. It is not a big deal. I am confident I can play at Manchester United."

The Sun: Carlos Tevez remains determined to leave Manchester City, Harry Redknapp has told Luka Modric to be patient while Spurs look to fulfil their ambitions, the Arsenal board is putting pressure on Arsene Wenger to start spending.
The Guardian: Manchester City plan to sign Sergio Aguero even if Carlos Tevez cannot secure a move, Bolton midfielder Matt Taylor is close to sealing a move to Championship side West Ham.
