Few saw this coming. Reports on Tuesday morning said that Tottenham could be closing in on the signature of none other than Everton's Phil Neville, but David Moyes has since denied that the midfielder was going anywhere.

23.59: That's all we have time for tonight, but we'll be back with you in the morning for what promises to be another exciting day of transfer gossip.

23.40: Arsene Wenger says he has not yet decided if he will bring in another defender, but has indicated he will buy from within the Premier League if he does. Wenger told Arsenal's official website: "We always have people in mind, and we look everywhere. It is difficult to find at this period of the season, but overall I feel at the moment we have so many games that it is very important to focus on the next game."

23.07: Blackpool are being linked with a loan swoop for Arsenal's Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey. Lots of Arsenal news tonight!

22.44: Real Zaragonza want to take Roque Santa Cruz on loan from Manchester City.

22.29: Both Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be monitoring veteran Juventus centre-back Nicola Legrottaglie.

22.01: Young Trelleborg goalkeeper Viktor Noring has been handed a trial by Fulham.

21.35: Amantino Mancini is to sign for Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro. "Mancini will leave Italy after eight years to go back to Brazil on a permanent transfer,” agent Roberto Calenda told Sky Sport Italia.

21.23: SPL strugglers Hamilton have signed Mickael Antoine-Curier who has been without a club since leaving Dundee.

21.01: Didier Domi, once of Newcastle and Leeds, has signed for New England Revolution.

20.52: Leicester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson looks set to complete a audacious loan move for Everton striker Yakubu.

20.36: We've just received an email telling us that agent Dennis Lachter was sacked by Andrei Arshavin in June 2009, so I think we can discount his comments.

20.31: Montpellier defender Emir Spahic has issued a 'come and get me' plea to Arsenal: "If Arsenal were interested again I could not say no. In the summer Montpellier were not interested in selling me because he (the manager) did not want to weaken the team. But I hope that something could happen in the next 7-10 days. Arsenal would be something really special for me personally.”

20.22: A message on Arsenal here from Tee Jay

Arsene Wenger should go for a strong defender we need someone like Ivanovic with Vermalen up there. It will really help the team. And get a matured defensive midfielder to help.

20.10: Shaun Wright-Phillips is being linked with a move to Liverpool in some places this evening. At least that may give them some proper width. Not good width, though.

19.35: The agent of Barcelona kid Mauro Icardi says he is to join Sampdoria on loan.

19.12: Sir Alex Ferguson is supposedly ready to spend £30 million on Aston Villa's Ciaran Clark and Ashley Young at the end of the season.

18.30: Andrei Arshavin's agent Dennis Lachter says the player won't be leaving Arsenal for Juventus: "I think it's just speculation. Juventus could have taken Arshavin two-and-a-half years ago, but they didn't want to."

18.01: Bolton are said to want defender Santiago Gentiletti, who plays in Argentina for Argentinos Juniors, in case Gary Cahill is sold.

17.27: PSV's Erik Pieters is happy about agreeing a new contract with the club. The defender said: "We have reached a verbal agreement on a contract extension until the summer of 2014. This is really good news. We will now have to wait until everything gets official, but I'm very happy with this contract extension.''

17.19: A report in Sovsport suggests that Zenit St Petersburg are interested in signing Cologne striker Lukas Podolski. It would take a big offer to get him away from Germany though.

17.07: Johan Mjallby wants striker Georgios Samaras to stay at Celtic and claims they are in talks over keeping him. He said: "The club and Sammy are in talks. I would be delighted to see him stay. He's on form again. He's one of those players who is a bit of an enigma.''

Meanwhile, he also says that the club are after Brann Bergen forward Erik Huseklepp. ''We are interested in him and we are in talks so we will see what happens,'' he said. ''Before the transfer window opens, you always identify different targets and hopefully this is going to come good for us and we sign him. If not, then we have to go for other people."

16.46: Mario Balotelli is only using Man City as a stepping stone according to his agent, who said: ''His next step will be to prove his worth so that AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea or others may have to battle to take him.''

16.26: Aston Villa have reportedly tabled a new, improved offer for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam. They had a £2.5 million bid rejected last week, but now are going back again.

16.14: The one you have all been waiting for. Genoa have landed Slovakia midfielder Juraj Kucka from Sparta Prague for around £3 million.

15.58: Peterborough United's former England Under-21 goalkeeper Joe Lewis has handed in a transfer request after the club rejected an offer from an unnamed Premier League club.

15.46: Genoa are reportedly interested in re-signing Sevilla full-back Abdoulay Konko, though the La Liga side have apparently already turned down a bid of €4.5 million as they are holding out for a figure closer to €6 million.

15.38: Staying in Italy and a potentially huge story should it be true; Francesco Totti wants to leave Roma. Il Corriere dello Sport has reported that Totti, who has been at the Roma since 1992 and is the club's all-time leading appearance maker and captain, has grown tired of life under coach Claudio Ranieri and is considering moving on.

15.21: AC Milan have their eye on Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel, according to Football Italia. Apparently Rossoneri vice president Adriano Galliani is due to meet the Ductman - who is out of contract in the summer - on Thursday. If that move fails to materialise, though, Milan will swoop for Cagliari's Andrea Lazzari.

15.08: Manchester City new boy Edin Dzeko has taken a swipe at the club's rivals Manchester United at his first press conference in English football. The Bosnia striker said: "I hear a lot about the fans and that most of the people from Manchester are Manchester City fans." I bet that will go down well at Old Trafford! Full story here.

14.49: PSG defender Mamadou Sakho is now the frontrunner to join Arsenal according to France Football. But does Arsene Wenger need to bring anyone else in?

''Wenger should really consider Shaun Wright-Phillips, he could be a good combination to supply dangerous crosses to RVP and Bendtner,'' says Alex

14.44: He may want to be No. 1 at Man Utd, but goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has been the subject of a loan enquiry from Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson according to the Leicester Mercury.

14.27: Malaga are showing their ambition after being taken over in the summer and are now keen to bolster their defence by bringing in Barcelona's Gabriel Milito on loan until the end of the season.

14.08: David Moyes has told Tottenham that he is not willing to sell Phil Neville. "At no time was any offer made - nor would one have been welcomed. Phil Neville is our captain and is an important part of the Everton set-up," he said. Shame, that could have been rather interesting.

13.54: West Ham's Valon Behrami is a target for Fiorentina, but the club are not holding their breath just yet. "We are hopeful," said club administrator Sandro Mencucci to Rai 3. "But until he is in Florence and he has signed, we cannot be sure."

13.17: Kagisho Dikgacoi's Fulham contract has been extended by 12 months and the decision has confused his agent somewhat. "I have been notified that they have exercised the option on the contract to extend it for a year, but I'm completely bewildered by the news to be honest," said Mike Makaab in the Ealing Gazette.

"KG was not even on the bench for the FA Cup match against Peterborough at the weekend, so for the manager to say he is still in their plans is very surprising, especially because they have just signed another player in his position in Steve Sidwell.''

12.55: Arsenal don't look likely to pick up defender Per Mertesacker this month, as the player has said he wants to focus on Werder Bremen. ''We are in a difficult moment with Werder and we should not be talking about me at this time,'' he told the Kreiszeitung newspaper. ''I am needed here for our day-to-day work and it is my duty to concentrate on that. I cannot deal with anything else.''

12.48: Bernard has his eyes on a few players for Liverpool to bring in. Might be a bit hopeful though.

I hope NESV can flex their financial muscle & back Dalglish in bringing in the likes of Suarez, Young, Elia, M'Vila, Coentrao, Cahill, Hangeland.

12.46: Leeds United have given a six-month contract to 18-year-old Everton midfielder Zac Thompson after he impressed while on trial.

12.24: Unable to make his mark on the Chelsea squad, Fabio Borini is set to leave Chelsea for Parma according to his agent. "The transfer to Parma is not official yet, but the situation is well advanced with the Gialloblu," Marco De Marchi told Radio Mana Mana. ''In recent months, there was interest in the boy from Lazio and Roma, but Parma have advanced things.''

12.03: Genoa have confirmed they are chasing the signature of Wigan striker Mauro Boselli. "I like Boselli, he is our aim," said Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi told Primocanale. "He's an interesting player in perspective. He played with (Rodrigo) Palacio (at Boca Juniors), they know each other. We will try to seize the best opportunity."

11.52: Ajax striker Luis Suarez is being tracked by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, as the club have reportedly put a €23m price on him.

11.32: No more fights with Zlatan in training as US defender Oguchi Onyewu has left Milan to join FC Twente on loan.

11.07: Enyi Donald thinks he can spot what Arsenal need:

The Gunners definitely will be better off with a player of Per Metesacker's qualities. They have suffered too much from set pieces, so need a player who is decent in the air.

11.05: Rangers want to see Kenny Miller's future resolved quickly. The latest round of gossip reckons that he will join Fiorentina(?!) before January is over.

10.44: The Newcastle United story moves on as they are reported to have appointed controversial Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian as a football advisor at a time of speculation of a potential clear out at St James' Park.

10.18: Michel Salgado is not going anywhere, despite the change in ownership at Blackburn. The veteran defender is keen to stay at Ewood Park and said: "I am enjoying the Premier League and enjoying Blackburn. It's about a new manager, new owners and the fans. One of the main reasons I'd like to stay and have one more year is because we have a little more chance to do something big."

10.01: With Manchester United obviously on the lookout for a new goalkeeper with the retirement of Edwin Van der Sar edging closer, The Express has a story that they are keen to bring in Scotland international Craig Gordon from Sunderland. But he will cost around £15 million.

09.45: Our source tells us that Newcastle are readying themselves for a clear-out. New boss Alan Pardew is keen to make his mark on the side so a number of players could be let go. Sol Campbell, Xisco, Ryan Taylor and Danny Guthrie are all possible departures.

09.26: Will the rumours over new arrivals at Juventus ever stop? All they need is defenders, but they are again linked with strikers as Liverpool's Fernando Torres is poised to complete a €30 million move, plus Brazilian-born striker Amauri going the other way, according to the Italian media. Nonsense, we say.

09.13: Napoli president Antonio De Laurentiis has said he would not even sell striker Edinson Cavani, who scored a wonderful hat-trick against Juventus at the weekend, to Manchester City. He said in the Daily Mirror: "I wouldn't even sell him for €50m. I would say 'no' if Manchester City wanted him."

08.58: Harry Redknapp has now said it will be "difficult" to sign Phil Neville, but has not ruled out the prospect that the Everton captain will arrive at Spurs.

08.31: Matthew Upson says he has no intention of signing a new deal with West Ham before he discovers the club's fate at the end of the Premier League season.

08.10: Right then, here is a run through of the stories making the headlines on Tuesday morning:

The Guardian reports that David Beckham is ready to take a pay cut to join Tottenham on loan and that talks with LA Galaxy are to continue on Tuesday. Presumably the chance to play alongside Phil Neville once again will swing this for Becks.

According to The Independent, Wayne Bridge has agreed to join relegation-threatened West Ham on loan from Manchester City after the club agreed to pay all of his £90,000-a-week wages. He is expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday.

Another player on the way out of Manchester City is Shaun Wright-Phillips, with The Sun reporting the winger is poised to link up with his former manager Mark Hughes at Fulham. He could cost in the region of £4 million.

Aston Villa failed with an offer of £2.5 million for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam on Monday but the Daily Mirror reports they will up this to £3.5 million and are hopeful of signing the Scottish star.

Spurs are being continually linked with a move for Everton midfielder Steven Pienaar and the Daily Mirror believes he could move for £1.5 million in January, with Robbie Keane going on loan to Goodison Park.

07.37: We are taking a quick diversion from the newspapers to bring you the news that Flamengo have completed the signing of Ronaldinho. Looks like Jason Roberts will be keeping his place in the Blackburn side then.

07.23: On that bombshell, we will take a look around the rest of the stories doing the rounds in the national press this morning...

07.20: According to the Daily Mail, talks are at an "advanced stage" to take Neville to Tottenham. Here's all the gory details.

07.10: Good morning then. I bet the world sees a strange place doesn't it? Birds falling from the sky in America, millions of fish found dead in Brazil, and now 33-year-old Phil Neville is a target for Champions League side Tottenham. If that's not the first three signs of the apocalypse, I don't know what is.

when does the trnsfer window close?

Posted by Anonymous on 01/11/2011

Manchester United are clearly lacking creativity in the middle. They need to find a replacement for Scholes but they aren't doing anything. I feel that they also need a winger. Giggs is lacking alot in stamina, Obertan is not regconised yet and Valencia will take awhile to recover and get back into the team. Also in defence, we only have Smalling as cover for Vidic and Rio, Evans is not up to standard. So we need a proven central defender. At right back is another position we need to enforce with only Rafeal worthy of that position. With so many positions needed to strengthen, why is the only position people talk about is in Goal?

wat s phi goin to do at hospure....rubbish rumour....hary don need ya

Posted by BRIGHT on 01/11/2011

Bad move for steven pienaar and the money is too small and i think that phil nivelle needs to play at arsenal since their looking for a defender.

Posted by Noah on 01/11/2011

hey what's happening with Negredo to Liverpool?
and any other transfer rumours for Liverpool?

Posted by emmanuel kissi on 01/11/2011

which players is Chelsea going to buy.life will never be smooth always.you will face some difficulties but the difficulties can never over take you.Chelsea will surely pick his form and be the master in England and the entire Europe.

Posted by Sunjay on 01/11/2011

Man.utd. definately need some good midfielders. I hate watching them. They bore me. Ferguson is a cheap skate.

Posted by MICHAEL EYO on 01/11/2011

Please let Asen Wenger go for phil Nivelle cos we need a gud defender lyk nivelle, and also one gud striker cos our striking force is nt doing well 4 now.

Posted by Jide on 01/11/2011

What Man.Utd need is a utility defender, an Wes Brown kind of guy; who can play right back and central defence, and can overlap while playing the right back. Definitely another winger with alot of pace and good delivery like Valencia, or super trickery like Nani and two footed. But most importantly a rugged, creative midfielder who can't be bullied in the middle of the park and arrives late in the box to meet crosses live Van Da vart.
But I'm sure Sir Alex knows all this and more and is on the lookout.
Good luck to Utd, having a fantastic season so far without being spectacular but at the same time never coming up short (except against West Ham). But then again, its Av-cup Grant.

Posted by Bangura on 01/11/2011

Come on Chelsea try to buy a defender pls

Posted by alex on 01/11/2011

d-dog, that has to be the worst question I've heard so far this year...

useless new owners. who going to rescue the team of leagend

Posted by Vincent on 01/11/2011

Has Liverpool made any decent offers to anybody?

Posted by David Sulonteh on 01/11/2011

Currently, chelsea poor performence is due to the lack of confidence and until the players can restore their confidence, the team will find it difficult.

Posted by Godfrey Sanga on 01/11/2011

HI, i think Sir Alex Ferguson must look at his complete squad other than looking for Goalkeeper only, Right back, left back, Center defender, attacking and creative midfield as they miss a attacking techniques this year.
My self i think goalkeeper is not priority for the time being

Posted by maswazi maphosa on 01/11/2011

Carlo has to be serious this time around. we need about five players to increase competition(another factor i believe has also led to poor results). if you look at our bench we always have average players who don't have experience. Aguero, Robert Huth, Samba, Wright-Phillips and someone in the mould of Modric will do wonders for us.

Posted by Obinna Onyejegbu on 01/11/2011

Had it been dt Man utd was able to secure Mesut Ozil,
with a good difencive midfielder and a good finisher,Man u cld have been a team to beat now

Posted by mancurian on 01/11/2011

Ronaldinho is a joke, he played the same game with Man.Utd. some years ago. he does this so he can get more money. What ever happend to the Real Football Players who would play for a pint as long as they gat a game.

Posted by JuLIUS K on 01/11/2011

I salute Ferguson for making United wt it is today but he should not look at the goal keeping department only, left back I don't see many options and we luck the old ManU midfield dormination and creativity, the likes of Carrick thats a jock, if only Anderson could improve on his goal scoring skills, he would be a a better replacement for 'sgt. Scholes' and hey I think Ferguson is just neglecting a time bomb Bebe, he is a good player he only needs guidance and more mature games, otherwise I see good qualities of a player in him.

Posted by mhs on 01/11/2011

Man Utd does not need to buy central defender, GK or winger. Valencia could be back around Feb and Giggs still can delivered. MU needs creative midfield like Scholes. Anderson could be an options but he must perform consistent week by week . MU could call back Tom Cleverly to strengthen midfield..however, buying Lassana Diara could boost in midfield....think about that MU

Posted by temmydayo derick on 01/11/2011

Posted by barryg6584 on 01/11/2011

man u need to buy a creative mid that can play left wing or in the centre, a left footer preferably. maybe stephan ireland ( i know he is a right footer) but has the talent. have faith in evans he is just having a dip in form.
arsenal definitely need a centre back, not sol that would be a joke, he should go for david wheater, nevin subotic, gary cahill.
chelsea need to start rebuilding, from the back all the way to the front, rb and a cb, in midfield maybe marek hamisik, and a diarra from madrid, up front they should have gone for dzeko but too late now,
liverpool need a complete rebuild, apart from stevie g, sell torres for a lot of money, and get people that dont look so dejected, he is a star and it will affect the rest of the team.
stu downing for left mid, poli from sampadoria for the holding mid or bring back mascherano, david wheater or gary cahill. micah richards for rb and push johnson up to a right mid,

just my thoughs,

Posted by kaycee on 01/11/2011

man.utd needs defenders, midfilders, and winger because all their player have injury some and it will took many times before they can recover

Posted by Thomas Briggs on 01/11/2011

How can West Ham afford to pay 90,000 a week for Wayne Bridge. Grant is obviously confused and I doubt is they an accountant in that club. This are the signs of going into administration

Posted by Olagunju Ridwan khephy on 01/11/2011

Who is arsene wenger want to buy,i want arsene 2 go4 both wr phillip&pieenar with only 6m 4 both.

Posted by Alex on 01/11/2011

Wenger should really consider SWP, he could be a good combination to supply dangerous cross to RVP and Bendtner. Not to mention that Arshavin is currently out of form. SWP on the left wing and Walcott on the right, I believe that will be a good combination. I think I can understand Wenger's concern now with UCL coming up, he'll be looking more on central defenders to replace Squillaci and Vermaelen. Why not get SWP and at the same time buy 2 defenders? I'm pretty sure that Arsenal has the $$$.....just a thought.

Posted by FEROZ on 01/11/2011

I want surez to be signed by LFC before everton game!!! and i want kenny LFC manager to sign some more players especially wingers ........ and please let the players go who are not happy at the club as it is better for the club.. love liverpool and

you'll never walk alone

Posted by Bernard on 01/11/2011

Even though I share the same name as the other Bernard on the thread, I think what Liverpool needs at this juncture's a pair of creative wingers and a centreback. Not pay cut throat prices for strikers during the Jan window. Plonk Kuyt alongside Torres as a holding forward to allow him more space to run. And please. get rid of all the deadweight already. Get mercenary Kia to broker deals if necessary and give him a cut of the sales. Some of the current players shouldn't even be here to begin with.

Posted by dumboo on 01/11/2011

Posted by bright on 01/11/2011

Please arsen wenger please buy a very good defender like John terry of Chelsea and please look for another good shooting striker like Van pesie if not arsenal is going to end up like other season without trophy..since djouru is doing well please help him out with a good partner..Nigeria arsenal fans are saying happy season arsenal.

Posted by Ed on 01/11/2011

Why isn't Manchester United interested in Pienar or Wright-Phillips? I think both of them are creative mid-fielders and could be useful to United.
Also, I think Gordon is one of the very top goalkeepers in the league, so signing him would be great for United.

Posted by Patrick on 01/11/2011

Manchester United will not buy this transfer window and need to wait till next summer to buy. Sir Alex knows that giggs, scholes, vander sar, gary neville will retire and will not renew the contract owen hargreaves so that leaves with fletcher, carrick, anderson as surely starters and maybe park as a destroyer like he did to pirlo and drift on the wing while gibson is always a reserve player but who knows we thought the same thing about fletcher. Recognize wingers are nani, valencia and of course the obvious buy would be a winger is a RIBERY or a BALE, midfield to add is schweinsteiger or a Muller, strikers are complete with rooney & berbatov are main with super sub chicharito & owen are god enough, defense are good enough cover for o'shea, fabio, smalling & evans, Goalkeeper is a must buy either a buffon or a cheaper one is craig gordon or an easy one is shay given

Posted by JoeUSA on 01/11/2011

Sakho seems very much in the Arsenal mode of defender, with his pace and power. And he is young and French. As much as I would love to see a giant like Samba or Mertesacker join the Gunners, Wenger seems to value pace in central defenders. The prospect of a Djourou and Sakho center back pairing for the future is quite exciting.

is it just me or is BESIKTAS trying to become a big boy in Europe?? and apparently they have a thing for Portuguese talent (Quaresma, Simao, Hugo Almeida)!!

they are doing what more teams should, and that is, going after 2nd tier players with some 1st tier ability!! why fight the big boys for Eden Dzeko when Almeida is playing with some decent form?!?! i think they made some good moves and am waiting to see what they do in Europe next time they have the opportunity!!

Posted by Wan Loqman on 01/11/2011

Why until today liverpool didnt make any real offer although many rumours linking to liverpool everyday?? im still waiting for REAL transfer news.. Hope King Kenny will bring a really2 good player that will suit liverpool team. In King Kenny we trust.

Posted by Gooner4Life on 01/11/2011

Wenger will not be making any offensive signings. All of our strikers are healthy and we have a surplus of wing/midfielders. It will be good to bring in a new CB since I don't think Djorou or Koscielny have the athleticism/intelligence to play in the Premier League just yet. It will create some competition and will give us good cover in Cup games and against lower sides in the premier league.

Posted by Janson on 01/11/2011

I totally agree with the thought that Manchester United needs another creative center mid, who has reliable set piece skills because Man Utd does not have a true "set piece" taker. They have Nani, Giggs, sometimes Gibson(vs MLS All stars in the summer) but none of them are accurate on a regular basis. Sneijder would be great but I don't see him leaving Inter and Van der Vaart has already gone to Spurs. Another spot where I think we need to strengthen is our back line. In my opinion, Ferdinand has too many defensive lapses when he plays and is sadly not as good as he used to be. Smalling is a good prospect that just needs more playing time to become the next Man Utd rock in the back but Evans is wayyy to sketchy in his defending. A good, proven younger (under 25) center back would really help our title chances this year.

Posted by kwame colecraft on 01/11/2011

i think something shd be done about man united cos the FA seems to favour them too much.

Posted by Innocent. on 01/11/2011

which play are Chelsea going to buy. They really need a defender.

Posted by Mike on 01/11/2011

Wenger does not need to strengthen the midfield or for that matter bring anyone else into the club. If he thinks it is necessary to bring in a defender to cover for Squillaci and Vermaelin, he should bring in a cheap guy just to fill in when needed. The team is strong and Arsenal fans who know about the game realize that the team is special. The quality we have on the bench and in the reserves is amazing and there is no need to bring in more players to attempt to strengthen a quality squad.

Posted by Andy J on 01/11/2011

the biggest football club manutd! but under some financial problems of its owners! sir alex has done a great job in these conditions sticking to the squad he had! but its not necessary to buy players, he is a master manager, he knows the best for the club than anyone else! he has his own plans...if he wants someone he will get him. even if he has to pay a lot for him e.g. berbatov! so wait manu fans cause its all upto him..

NESV won't flex their financial muscle until they get something out of the club. People complain about how much they spend on the Red Soxs, well they have owned the Red Soxs for 9 years and have made tons of money and won 2 world series. That is why they spent 250m on Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford. I hope they will see the potential revenues that could be made at LFC and buy a few players this is what team i would like to see

Reina
Kelly Agger Shawcross Contreao
Hernandez Meireles Gerrard Mata
Suarez Torres

Subs: Honda, Maxi, Brad Jones, Carragher, Van Wolfswinkel, Lucas, Joe Cole

It is possible but they must cash in on Glen Johnson, Ryan Babel, Alberto Aquilani, Emiliano Insua, Dirk Kuyt, David Ngog.

Konchesky and Pouslen can't leave because of FIFA rule a player cannot play for 3 clubs in one season.

A bunch of new names will not help Liverpool at this point. They have to "re"build on the foundation that already exists, even if it has faltered. Throwing too many new players into the mix will mean only more time until they start to play like the team they have historically been.
Manchester United need a new goalkeeper, and not much more. A look at their injury list reminds us of the talent and depth they have, even in the back. The team should also focus on bringing Fletcher and Carrick back to the levels they played at last year, or two years ago. There's no reason these two cannot do that. And up front, well there are too many people up front, hence the Macheda loan.
Tottenham hardly need to tinker with their system. If anything, they needed a leader but have found it in Rafa. Perhaps more of an intellectual in midfield would be sufficient, and maybe a play-any-part defender.
Arsenal needs to sign a player who aren't two-dimensional and can provide strength and aggression.

LIVERPOOL should go 4suares.topclass striker.

Posted by chichriso on 01/11/2011

can Arsena Wenger get a good defender for us, Please. If Vermelen could not make it in coming back.

Posted by Rich on 01/11/2011

Arsenal should look into Chris Samba. He wants out, he knows the Primer league he is a big boy in the air, and could give some physical presence.

Posted by Derek on 01/11/2011

Arsene Wenger needs sign Cahill and Hazard. Hazard is going to be one of the best wingers, so we need to snatch him up as soon as possible. Also, a Defender is a MUST right now. If we want to win the title we cant be scared of spending money if we have it.

Yahoo is stating that Spurs have agreed in principle to a 4 year deal to bring Pienaar to White Hart Lane. The only decision still to be made is whether Spurs want to pay Everton 2 million now or in the summer.

Posted by Simon on 01/11/2011

Blackburn need a striker. Shane Smeltz in the Hyundai A-League would be a very good buy

Man. Utd need a good right hand defender to replace Gary Neville and a winger Goalkeeping dept. is good .MEL

Posted by Alex on 01/11/2011

LFC should sign Barton, he appears to be out of luck for a new contract at Newcastle/

Posted by Cheng Hooi on 01/11/2011

I think King Kenny should get Coentrao for our left full-back who can provide us width. Also move Martin Kelly to right back to provide solidity there, whilst moving Glen Johnson to right wing to provide the attacking thrust. Also, another fine passer in the Alonso mould is needed in our Liverpool team.

Posted by olayinka omotosho on 01/11/2011

wenger should go for suaraz/zamba

Posted by DONO on 01/12/2011

Arsene Wenger should buy phil jagielka, haanguland or Sahko and then buy shaun wright phillips for cover and we'll win the league, it gives him more english players at a discount. Also Nzogbia is worth another lookin. well done gunners.

Posted by newcastlefan on 01/12/2011

newcastle should not sell barton!

Posted by StephenAnand on 01/12/2011

Finally King Kenny returns and brought in Steve Clarke.Wise decision. Now that he has the final say in the transfer window, its about time that KK brings in Suarez,Lukaku,Shaun Wright and Shawcross.

Posted by donijack on 01/12/2011

I don't think arsene will sign a new defender finally. If he will, it should be a very experienced and quality like mertesacker

Posted by nAVE on 01/12/2011

Manu definitely needs an experience goalkeeper, someone like schwarzer or so, bt regardless who dont keep kuzchak(heartstopper), besides the goalkeeping pos, i have to agree with the rest above , that we certainly need a creative midfielder, and certainly a winger . I reckon that eden hazard would fit the bill, he is the next big thing. Perhaps for the midfield slot someone like modric muller, bt such would cost a fortune , therefore u wud never know the mind of the gaffer, so lets jz watch. opinion are opinions.

Arsenal's Theo Walcott is Joining Kenya's Premier League Contenders SofaPaka for Three year Long Contract. Is he gonna be upto the task!?

Posted by ABIYE on 01/12/2011

arsenal should sign a midfielder and a defender, if fabregas is injured i dnt no wt will happen to the team.

Posted by antonio on 01/12/2011

Chelsea just need a central defender...preferably one already in the premiership....that's the answer. They're goin 2 go on a massive winning streak and will definitely retain 'their' title.

Posted by arsenalboy on 01/13/2011

Please despite our zeal on the defensive players, i will still suggest wenger should go for wright philips or pinaar, i think those players are meant for arsenal, there moves and sharpness is more of arsenal tactics. please wenger look into any of this 2 players(wright philips or pinaars),then samba is still good but i think you know better wenger....
Moreso, am urging all arsenal players to work as a pillar to cesc and walcott, enable them to show out that make in them, because, they are more better than messi or so, but they need broherly support like barca does.... i love you arsenal. Arsenal forever.

Posted by shonibare on 01/13/2011

Hello mr wenger should pls buy a defender cos we really need a defender to straighing up our team

Posted by David Mendels on 01/20/2011

Arsenal should play Beitner as a attacking centre Half

Posted by Gfunk on 01/20/2011

This news of Arshavin comes as no surprise, look at his form this year. Arguably one of his worst seasons to date. I would welcome a transfer for the Russian assassin but do you really think AW would do such a thing. Arshavin still has quality football left in him and once a certain matchup comes in less than 30 days, you will see a revitalized AA. The champs league is where Arsenal need Arshavin, unfortunately the truth of it is he doesn't care about the league or pointless trophies like the carling cup. The last week of the window is always so interesting, if Arsenal get a legit offer for Arshavin the move must be made and in return a world class CB must be signed.

Posted by BigKatt on 01/20/2011

I agree totally with Gfunk. We've watched a rather uneventful window filled with smaller clubs strengthening their weaknesses. No matter what Le Prof convinces himself of, Arsenal need help at center back. Djourou has deputized well but against the likes of Barca, Chelsea, and ManU he has been and will continue to be exposed. The team has the money with or without the sale of AA and if they are serious about winning silverware they need to spend it. Arsene is having a tough time finding a defender of Arsenal quality because he's trying to save money. The old saying money talks bs walks will hold true. Splash the cash and you'll get a world class defender and trophies will follow.

Manchester united should try and go for nasri because he has a great talent in the wing, also has the talent to play behind strikers, great midfielder
