After his general performance against Leeds United in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, few wouldn't forgive Championship clubs for turning down the chance to sign Nicklas Bendtner, but it's claimed that the Dane is worth an amazing £15 million.

17.40 That concludes the blog for the day. Join us tomorrow for more transfer tittle tattle.

17.40 Wayne Routledge has joined Queen's Park Rangers on loan until the end of the season.

17.23 Aston Villa are still in for Blackpool's Charlie Adam, according to Gerard Houllier. "We made no mystery after what was said by [Ian] Holloway in the press," said Gerry. "It is true we made a bid and it is true we like the player. It is true we would like to have him here." So that one will run and run.

17.00 Arsene Wenger refuses to be drawn on Gary Cahill. "At the moment, I can not come out with any name," he told reporters at his weekly press conference. "I think Gary Cahill is a very good player, but I can not tell you more. We like to keep our transfer negotiations always very secret, because it puts more pressure on when you go public so you would understand we don't want to speak publicly about that."

16.45 Harry Redknapp has had his say on a number of possible transfers.
First on Pavlyuchenko: "I know Steve (Bruce) is looking for a replacement (Darren Bent), but I doubt it very much."

Next up: Giuseppe Rossi: "Rossi? He's a good player but he's not available. Incredible Hulk? No. Not going to happen. I couldn't say we're close to doing anything with anyone.''

16.32: Parma say they are still in talks to sign Fabio Borini from Chelsea, the young striker who was expected to break into the Chelsea team this season but hasn't made the grade.

16.27: Tottenham have sent Ryan Mason out on loan to Championship side Doncaster Rovers for first team experience.

16.21: Carlo Ancelotti was in no mood to expand on possible transfer targets in his weekly press conference as he denied that the club have made contact with Udinese over Alexis Sanchez, refused to elaborate on Chelsea's pursuit of David Luiz and rejected reports that he had met with Steven Pienaar prior to the player joining Tottenham (as we mentioned earlier.

16.17: Sky Sports believe that Newcastle United want to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Tranquillo Barnetta, the Swiss international.

16.12: Has Arsene Wenger given a guarded hint that he will indeed be signing a certain Bolton Wanderers defender? He said: "At the moment, I cannot come out with any name. I think Gary Cahill is a very good player, but I cannot tell you more."

15.59: Carlo Ancelotti says he never wanted Steven Pienaar at the club, and that he has plenty of quality midfielders. Sour grapes?

15.51: ESPNsoccernet's Harry Harris has confirmed that El Hadji Diouf has been offered to West Ham United.

15.45: Mike Grella's move from Leeds to Motherwell is off as he has already played for Carlisle and Leeds this season. He cannot play for more than two clubs in one season.

15.37: Birmingham misfit Michel, signed by the club a year ago after an 18-month pursuit, has left the club on loan to join AEK Athens. His made just nine appearances - nice work.

15.29: It looks like, as Harry Harris revealed on Thursday, Juan Roman Riquelme will not be moving to Blackburn with manager Steve Kean saying: "I don't think a marquee signing will happen." He also revealed that two bids for Birmingham's Seb Larsson have been rebuffed.

15.23: Rangers striker Kenny Miller has officially signed for Bursaspor and been paraded in front of thousands of fans. Quite bizarre pictures of that.

15.14: Galatasaray have made a trio of signings this Friday. Goalkeeper Robinson Zapata and striker Bogdan Stancu have moved from Steaua Bucharest, while Kas?mpasa SK midfielder Yekta Kurtulus has moved there too.

15.02: Following on from the news of the Aaron Ramsey loan to Cardiff, Carlos Vela and Henri Lansbury are also confirmed to be going out on loan. "I am considering to give Ramsey one month out on loan, with a possibility of him going to Cardiff,” said Wenger. “I don’t want [Ramsey] to go to a Premier League club because I want him to finish the season with us. I just look for competition for him. There is much interest in [Vela] for a loan, that is what I want to do. We have plenty of clubs who are interested in him. At the end of the day I look for a guarantee [that he will play]. For him, he has as well to agree to join the club who wants him."

14.56: Manchester United have again been linked with a loan move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. Now, which club is short on strikers at the moment...

14.51: Crystal Palace are expected make a loan move for Everton reserve striker Magaye Gueye.

14.28: ESPNsoccernet's Harry Harris informs us that Stoke City have asked about the availability of Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome. But with Stoke having signed John Carew do they really need another big man up top?

14.13: Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has attempted to put an end to speculation about his future by insisting that he wants to play for the Bianconeri for the rest of his career.

14.08: Blackburn want to sign Barcelona youth Ruben Rochina on loan for the rest of the season. Barcelona? Or Blackburn? Tough decision.

14.04: Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said in his weekly press conference that he is likely to send Aaron Ramsey out on loan to Cardiff as he continues to build up his fitness.

14.02: Ian Holloway has revealed that his hopes of signing George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith from Peterborough United could fail. "We were only offered £3.5million for Charlie Adam. Peterborough want that for two lads who were in a team that got relegated from the Championship," said Holloway, quoted in the Blackpool Gazette. "I don't mean that as an insult at all but I'm saying let's have a look at reality.

13.51: It looks like Roman Pavlyuchenko could leave Spurs, as he is concerned about dropping down the pecking order should they make new signings up front. He has also turned down contract offers. He told Sport Express: "The proposed conditions do not suit me yet. The amount became a bit more, but not as much as I want. But this is not the only reason I have taken a pause - I want to see what else will happen before the transfer window closes."

13.40: Liverpool defender Steven Irwin has started a trial with SPL side Aberdeen and could be on the move before the end of the month.

13.30: Ajax have admitted that Liverpool target Luis Suarez is destined to leave the club sooner rather than later, but it seems they would rather not sell him this month. Is that deal dead in the water?

12.54: Tottenham have been linked with a move for Manchester United utility defender Wes Brown, but Sir Alex Ferguson says he will be going nowhere. “Wes is such a good defender, but I certainly won’t be letting him go on loan,” said Ferguson.

12.50: Stephane Sessegnon may have returned to training with PSG, but his move to Sunderland is edging closer. The Sunderland Chronicle says he will fly to the club for talks over a £4.5 million transfer this weekend.

12.47: Chelsea are rumoured to be at the front of the queue to sign Werder Bremen's Marko Marin, who is a 21-year-old playmaker.

12.45: Italy World Cup goalkeeper Federico Marchetti has been told he can leave Serie A side Cagliari after the player had been banished from the club at the start of the season for comments made to the press. He is like to join Genoa.

12.42: Liverpool transfer supremo Damien Comolli has confirmed the club are interested in signing Luis Suarez and Ashley Young. "We are looking primarily for an attacking player with pace because the team is short on pace," Comolli told Canal+Sport. "And as far as Suarez is concerned, at the moment there is no dialogue with Ajax. He is one of the players we are interested in. Will he be available in January? This is another story. For Young, if he is on the market then we will be interested. But I don't believe that is the case."

12.34: We're hearing whispers that Stephen Ireland is to leave Aston Villa after just six months and join Newcastle United on loan for the rest of the season. What a terrible move that has been for the former Man City man.

12.26: Malaga are expected to completed the signing of River Plate midfielder Diego Buonanotte later on Friday. He will move for a fee of around £3.5m.

11.59: John Carew has completed his loan move to Stoke City, and remember that Ricardo Fuller is about to leave Stoke for Sunderland which completes a transfer triangle started by Darren Bent.

11.40: Sampdoria are locked in talks to sign Pasquale Foggia from Lazio.

11.34: Keisuke Honda, the Japan midfielder, says he wants a move to La Liga rather than the Premier League when it opts to leave CSKA Moscow, according to his agent.

11.31: Marco Ramos has left Lens, with the defender moving to Portugal to sign for Braga for an undiscosed fee.

11.26: Championship side Millwall have signed Darren Purse following his release by Sheffield Wednesday.

11.22: Liverpool defender Stephen Darby has been loaned to Notts County for the rest of the season.

11.10: Another West Brom story, with the Premier League club loaning Romaine Sawyers and Kayleden Brown to League Two club Port Vale.

10.56: Middlesbrough need a new defender to replace David Wheater, and there are reports that West Brom's Abdoulaye Meite could join on loan.

10.52: Blackburn have officially terminated the contract of unsettled defender Pascal Chimbonda. He was told by former manager Sam Allardyce in November he could leave this month and new boss Steve Kean has followed that through.

10.31: BBC Radio Stoke is reporting that Sunderland have had a bid of around £3 million accepted by Stoke for striker Ricardo Fuller.

10.23: Youssouf Mulumbu has signed a new contract with West Bromwich Albion which will run until the summer of 2013.

10.09: Birmingham boss Alex McLeish says he is in no hurry to sell Seb Larsson despite strong interest from both Newcastle and Blackburn.

09.59: Plenty of stories around claiming that Everton have completed the signing of Sporting Lisbon defender Eric Dier - but nothing on their official site as yet.

09.45: Rio Ferdinand is adamant Manchester United have the strongest squad in the Premier League, despite Manchester City's continued spending in the transfer window.

09.29: Stephane Sessegnon has returned to training with PSG after going AWOL in order to try and force through a move to Sunderland.

09.00: Nottingham Forest midfielder Matt Thornhill will join SPL side Hibernian on a free transfer on Monday.

It's time to take a look through the morning newspapers:

20 million for Shinji Kagawa? Dortmund must be nuts!
If I were in SAF's shoes right now, I would rather go for Charlie Adam. Cheaper price, proven EPL credentials, still only 26 years old, what more could you possibly want?

Posted by Freedom on 01/21/2011

I just held that chelsea have step-up their bid to bring sanchez to the bridge

Posted by Nwokocha Dimansh on 01/21/2011

I am disappointed that Chelsea is not showing any interest in buying new players, are we still going to manage the rest of the season like this?

Posted by Red_John on 01/21/2011

Ajax is playing selfish towards Liverpool, enough said.

Posted by MRX on 01/21/2011

Anyone heard something about Wolves having former captain of Russian Premier league side Tom Tomsk, goalkeeper Sergey Pareiko training with them?

Posted by Roger on 01/21/2011

Bendter should leave and I think he would be a great fit for a club like Wolfsburg, Sunderland or PSG. They all need someone reliable int the strike force and Bendter would gain valuable expierience for future chances to play at a top club in his career.

Dont you guys put comments up?

Posted by Bernard Lew on 01/21/2011

Why did LFC employed Damien Comolli, the so called transfer supremo when up to now he has failed his mission ! Gentlemen, there is only 10 days to go. Make those signings now or never ! NESV owners, we need you to save & bring the club forward, not the other way round ! Sign Suarez, Young & Coentrao or forget about a place in the Champions League for next season ! Even a place in the Europa League might beyond us too !

You might want to clarify this snip, as it's missing a key bit of info:

13.40: Liverpool defender has started a trial with SPL side Aberdeen and could be on the move before the end of the month.

Posted by Stevie on 01/21/2011

"13.40: Liverpool defender has started a trial with SPL side Aberdeen..."

Do you happen to know which Liverpool defender this is??

Posted by Eddie lancaster on 01/21/2011

15 mill? is that supposed to be a joke.
bendtner is in a team that creates numerous stupendeous and audatious goal scoring chances yet he is worse that a sunday type striker.
15 mill,yea right!

Posted by Brad on 01/21/2011

Wenger, as a Gunner fan, I urge you to quit giving out hints, and just sign someone for our inconsistent and injured defense. You want EPL talent, Samba, Upson, and Cahill want out. I'm not a big fan of spending money, and I like our frugal and youthful approach, but for the love of God, JUST DO IT!

Posted by Chris on 01/21/2011

Liverpool would do well to sign someone this window. He doesn't have to be a forward with pace. I think Torres would like a big target to run off flicks and other through balls. I think Fernando Llorente would fit in perfectly with everything Liverpool looks for, he's very young, and Torres with love a Spanish partner up top. And I'm pretty sure the kop would welcome another Fernando with open arms.

Posted by Ken on 01/21/2011

Cahill would be great with Arsenal and i think the sign of Wheather was a hint to a possible exit this month.

Posted by Gfunk on 01/21/2011

£15 Million for Bendter?! Sell Sell Sell, don't me get wrong good old saint Nik could turn out to be a great footballer but he must acquire a first touch to do so. Last season Bendter scored in some huge games and I believe that's part of his upside. For the amount of first team football the big Dane has seen, he really does have an impressive amount of goals. Although this year is different and Arsenal have plenty of coverage upfront with Chamakh and RVP. If someone like Bayern make a offer, AW will let Bendter loose. Arsene would then be more welcome to splash some cash for the CB they've been missing for the last two years.

Posted by obudoken on 01/21/2011

Roman Pavlyuchenko is valued at 14 million pounds!! Nicklas Bendtner is valued at 15!! Gary Cahill 20!! Charlie Adam valued at 46 million pounds!! The only day anyone would pay all these dubious amounts is when pigs fly... wait a minute... considering the weekly wages of Wayne Bridge, and what it cost Manchester United to obtain Bebe, eyes sky-wards everybody!! Maybe they already DID take flight.

Posted by aGooner on 01/21/2011

if Arsene splashes 20 mil on Cahill then the pink snow will start falling on London.

Posted by luke wangwe on 01/22/2011

Wenger do something constructive on defense this time round.

Posted by RAPHAEL RESPECT on 01/22/2011

we need at least 2 defenders and 2 sharp attackers in gunners. Wenger should please do something.

Posted by cobra on 01/22/2011

mr.wenger go and get luis fabiano frm sevilla he could add the bite that you looking for up front.. arsenal for ever

Posted by Andrew on 01/22/2011

15m for Bendtner? He's not worth a quarter of that.

Posted by Mick on 01/22/2011

It's time for Arsene Wenger to let go of dead weight such as Bendtner. He's had his chance to prove his worth and he surely can't stake a claim in the Gunners first team with RVP back on form. Vela still deserves a chance, but if Wenger can cash in on those two fringe players and move for a center-back, he should. A move for Dunne would be a waste as he is garbage. Perhaps Sahko of PSG would be a good fit. He's definitely a better option than Johan Djourou, who once again proved hes not Arsenal material. Arsenal finally have their best attackers healthy and on form but, with such a shaky backline, I don't see them winning the Premier League or beating Barca.

Posted by x on 01/23/2011

bendtner is way overrated

Posted by slim on 01/23/2011

he is worth more than that.arsene wenger is right.

Posted by okenna on 01/23/2011

liverpool pls hurry in bringing in luiz suarez cos time is not a friend of ours.liv'pool for ever

Posted by Steve on 01/23/2011

cahill worth 20 million and we are considering buying him? Dats grosss. My home boy Chikodi will do better.

Posted by shakes on 01/28/2011

I know AW would n't spend 20 mill on Cahill, n't his style jsut because he is English. If Cahill was from France or Neighbour may be but for 10 mill. I think we need Bendtner in game that no one else could score e.g. against Ipswich!I like him, Arsenal for life, the kind of sexy football!

Posted by big g man on 01/30/2011

Suarez is the right man for Liverpool. People need to stop hating about what he did at the world cup. He saved his team from losing. Its what you are supposed to do to win a game. Its not his fault Gyan cant score a PK.
