Potential loan-star David Beckham has arrived at Spurs Lodge clutching his boots... but so far it is only to train. No deal has yet been done for the LA Galaxy midfielder but he is reportedly undergoing a medical.

23.57 That's all for tonight. Thanks for joining us and come back tomorrow for all the latest news and gossip from around the world.

23.41 Fulham are prepared to offer £4 million for City misfit Shaun Wright-Phillips, according to The Sun.

23.22 Sulley Muntari has ruled out a move to Sunderland but says he would consider a move to London. “If I have to leave Inter Milan, I’ll go to London,” he told the Italian media. “That is the only possibility.” Is a reunion with Harry Redknapp on the cards?

23.03 Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller, who had been linked with Aston Villa, has signed a new contract until 2014.

22.39 Rangers boss Walter Smith says he doesn't know what's happening with Kenny Miller as both Birmingham and Fiorentina try to secure his signature. “He's currently in negotiations with two clubs and we don't know what the outcome of those talks are going to be so we just have to wait and see,” Smith said. “We don't know whether he's going to leave or not.”

22.17 Caught Offside believes Manchester United are considering a move for Barcelona and Spain midfielder Sergio Busquets.

21.28 Here is the full story on Kaka's future at Madrid.

21.12 Jose Mourinho insists Kaka is going nowhere. We'll bring you the full story shortly.

20.55 Reports in Brazil suggest Ronaldinho has reached a verbal agreement with Flamengo. You'd think this one would have resolved itself by now, but here we are.

20.08 Giuseppe Rossi's agent claims the Villarreal striker is worth at least €25 million.

"He wants to finish the season at Villarreal," Federico Pastorello told Sky. "We are renewing his contract until 2015, raising his buy-out clause from €40 to €50 million. Last year an English club offered €19m and it was refused.

"If you look at how he is playing, his assessment has increased. He's worth at least €25m."

18.42 Everton striker James Vaughan is said to be attracting interest from Cardiff and Leicester.

18.03 Kenny Dalglish will be playing a full role in Liverpool's transfer plans this month by the looks of things. More here.

17.44 Philippe Mexes has reported to have rejected a new contract offer at Roma and Milan are said to be ready to swoop.

17.34 Udinese sporting director Fabrizio Larini insists Alexis Sanchez will be going nowhere in January and has denied valuing the Chile forward at €25 million. Manchester United have been linked with the player.

17.19 Reports in Brazil suggest that Corinthians could yet sign Ronaldinho, taking him out of the clutches of Flamengo. He would link up with Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos at the former. How good would that be?

16.52 No sooner had former Juventus director Luciano Moggi claimed that all the club need to do in January is buy some new defenders, than Sevilla defender Abdoulay Konko (or at least his agent) revealed that the full-back is ready to open talks with the Bianconeri.

Comment from David S: Keep up the good work on the blog! This is the only place I go for my transfer rumors.

16.34 I'd take this one with a big pinch of salt, but there are rumours flying around that Shay Given could return to Newcastle and that his current club, Manchester City, want to sign Preston's Andy Lonergan to allow the Ireland international to leave.... I'm not having any of it myself.

16.24 Blackpool have today rejected bids from Aston Villa and Birmingham for captain Charlie Adam and manager Ian Holloway insists his club do not need to sell in the transfer window. Holloway said: "We have got no reason to sell anyone. We are a well-run club and we want to add in this window, not lose anyone."

16.15 According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport Fiorentina are interested in signing Bolton Wanderers striker Johan Elmander.

15.50 "I'd like to get one player in during the transfer window if I could," Man chester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said on Sunday. Since then, the Red Devils have been linked with a host of players including Julio Cesar, Rene Adler, Jose Enrique, Edison Cavani and Jordan Henderson. Today's addition to that list is Borussia Dortmund's Japanese star Shinji Kagawa, who will cost £15 million.

Comment from Onodeku Obatarhe: Sir Alex should sign Larssa Diarra before the weekend to bolster man utd's mildfield and as a back up to Scholes and Anderson.

15.27 Seven-times UAE League champions Al Wasl are hoping to sign Ruud van Nistelrooy from Hamburg. Owner Sheikh Mohammed Ashra Fahmad, who last year bagged Athletic Bilbao star Francisco Yeste, said: "I'm a fan of Ruud van Nistelrooy. He still scores great goals and I want him playing on my team."

15.03 Liverpool winger Milan Jovanovic (remember him) seems happy to stay at the club now that Kenny Dalglish has tkaen charge. "For now, I do not get any signal to think about a possible transfer from Anfield," the Serb said.

14.40 The agent of Manchester City striker Jo claims the Brazilian is ready to turn down five offers from abroad in order to fight for his place at Eastlands.

14.18 Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has confirmed that he is in a battle with Fiorentina to sign Rangers striker Kenny Miller: "We have an agreement with Rangers and are talking to Kenny. He's torn about coming back to the Premier League or going to Italy," McLeish said.

14.11 Tottenham transfer target David Beckham has arrived at the Spurs Lodge training ground for the second time today. Did he forget his lucky pen to sign the contract?

13.48 Tottenham midfielder David Bentley is undergoing a medical at St Andrews so it would seem like Birmingham have a ready made replacement for want-away winger Seb Larsson.

13.37 Birmingham have given Newcastle United permission to speak to Swedish winger Seb Larsson. Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also reportedly interested in the midfielder.

13.13 Sunderland's double swoop for Inter Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari and PSG's Stephane Sessegnon has hit the skids. Muntari doesn't want to go to Wearside and Sessegnon's French club don't want him to leave. PSG official Eric Pecout told RMC: "He [Sessegnon] still has his ideas, but the club has not changed its position, because PSG does not want to let him go."

12.36 Beckham update! The man himself has spoken. "I'm thankful to Tottenham and Harry Redknapp for giving me the opportunity to train with the team over the next month. I'm also grateful to Galaxy for allowing me to train with Spurs. I look forward to getting to work as soon as possible."

So if he is only training what is the medical for? Mmmm. Still more to come on this one I think.

12.20 Chelsea striker Fabio Borini could be on his way to Parma in a €500,000 deal, rather than a loan transfer, just days after his agent blasted the Premier League club's treatment of the Italian youngster. "Fabio has suffered very, very bad behaviour from Chelsea, they've acted against a player who is an example of professionalism," said agent Marco de Marchi.

12.04 It seems it is de rigueur for veteran players to train with Premier League clubs today. Thierry Henry has just pitched up for a bit of a workout with former club Arsenal, although there is no suggestion that it's with a view to playing for the club again... give it time though and the rumours will start.

11.55 Tom Soares was supposed to be the next big thing a few years ago but now the Stoke City midfielder looks set to be heading to Swansea having not made a Premier League appearance since his move from Crystal Palace.

11.32 West Ham and Aston Villa are duking it out to see which one of them will have the dubious honour of paying Wayne Bridge's £90,000-per-week wages. The Manchester City defender will decide which club to join on loan in the next 48 hours.

11.22 Deportivo La Coruna president Augusto César Lendoiro presumably adopted his best Clint Eastwood voice when he blasted young Spanish striker Adrian Lopez for joining Wigan Athletic for "a few dollars more".

11.10 Aston Villa have outbid Birmingham in the race to sign Blackpool skipper Charlie Adam but their £2.5 million offer has also been rejected.

10.54 Uruguay volleyball specialist and Ajax striker Luis Suarez has been linked with a host of clubs across Europe, including Tottenham and Liverpool, and Ajax boss Frank De Boer has refused to completely rule out a deal.

10.40 West Ham might be eager to offload a number of players in the transfer window but the Hammers have turned down Fiorentina's initial bid for Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami.

10.26 Loan-star David Beckham has arrived at Spurs Lodge clutching his boots... but so far it is only to train. No deal has yet been done.

10.10 Tottenham are hoping to derail Aston Villa's bid to sign Olympique Lyon midfielder Jean Makoun, according to The Sun. Villa have already offered £4.2 million up front and a further £1.7 million in bonus payments but Lyon want £8 million.

09.54 Manchester United are set to swoop for Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg after Edwin van der Sar recommended the Dutchman as his replacement, according to reports in Holland.

09.31 Atletico Madrid and Valencia have joined the increasingly lengthy queue to sign Birmingham City midfielder Sebastian Larsson, who is also wanted by Newcastle and around half a dozen Premier League clubs.

09.06 Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has taken a break from trying to sign David Beckham to weigh up a move for Palermo striker Edinson Cavani, who is currently on loan at Napoli.

08.56 Reports that Chelsea are interested in signing AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato just won't go away. Today's rumour suggests that the Blues will lodge a €30 million bid when Milan managing director Adriano Galliani returns from Brazil, where he has been negotiating the sale of Ronaldinho.

08.30 Serie A side Fiorentina could scupper Birmingham's bid to sign Rangers striker Kenny Miller. "Kenny has been really impressed with the offer Fiorentina have made to him and at this minute they would be his first choice," A source told the Daily Record.

08.15 Aston Villa have offered Nigel Reo-Coker in part exchange for Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton. The 28-year-old is currently negotiating a new contract with the Magpies.

08.00 The David Beckham to Tottenham transfer saga continues to rumble on. On Friday manager Harry Redknapp said a deal would be done by Sunday. On Saturday it was off again because of insurance issues and this morning it is back on. "I was led to believe that insurance was a problem, but apparently that's not the case," Redknapp said.

Arsenal are in need of defensive cover following an injury to Sebastien Squillaci and the Daily Mirror claim the Gunners will swoop for Bolton defender Gary Cahill or Werder Bremen's Per Mertesacker. But don't worry, if that's not your cup of tea then the Daily Express report that Newcastle centre-back Sol Campbell could be in line for a remarkable third spell with Arsenal.

Comment form Buchi Obioha: The joke of the season is Sol Campbell returning to Arsenal for a 3rd spell. That will shock my grandma in her grave.

West Ham are also set to be busy in the transfer window with the Hammers joining the hunt to sign Tottenham's Robbie Keane (Daily Telegraph) and also cobbling together a bid for £2.5 million-rated Odense striker Peter Utaka (Daily Mail).

Birmingham are making headlines on Monday morning with manager Alex McLeish linked with four big name signings: David Bentley; Robbie Keane; Kenny Miller and Boca Juniors forward Pablo Mouche. The Blues have also had a £2 million bid for Blackpool skipper Charlie Adam turned down (Daily Mirror)

Where's the news about Gooch being loaned from AC Milan to Dutch champs FC Twente? It's been reported on a Dutch soccer site...

Posted by Ben C on 01/10/2011

I love checking on the move everyday for my rumours. I hope Tottenham can get Becks on loan at least, or maybe coerce LA for a permanent (why not?). We do need a striker, and I like either Makoun/Diarra/Muntari. Top-class striker and we're top 4 easy. COYS!

Stupid or what?? Any footballer, and I think all athletes, HAS to go for medical check up BEFORE they start their FIRST training of the season because their body has been ASLEEP for the past months of them not playing anything! Do you expect for him or any footballer to just get on and run without having know his body's condition first?? Plus..this is a player who has just played only 8-10 games for the last 10 months, what more coming out of ACHILLES INJURY, the worst possible injury could ever happened to a footballer! When he was at Arsenal before he went through medics too before he starts training.

Arsenal should not sign sol campbell.

Posted by Dean L on 01/10/2011

Blues desperately need a midfielder and defender if they wish to contend for champions league and cup glory (I genuinely think they out of the title race for the Premier League)... Next few months are gonna be a great challenge with alot of games being played... Rumors about Benfica's David Luiz defender coming to Chelsea hurt my ears, I just dont about spending all that money on a player who has no experience in the Premier League. Instead, Gary Cahill?

Posted by Kyle on 01/10/2011

Ruud to the UAE? Just when we thought how the mighty have fallen, he may have found a way to fall some more.

Posted by jing on 01/10/2011

@Buchi Obioha

perhaps you are the joke of the season for having such crazy thought?

he's not even playing for NU, doubt AW wants someone who is not match fit

Posted by Hamza Abbasi on 01/10/2011

Liverpool are set to sign Walter Gargano from Napoli and Lille OSC winger Eden Hazard.

Posted by Jesse Gilmore on 01/10/2011

My would Chelsea be in for another striker when the back line has been the problem? Alex is out and Ivanovic and Cole have been their only steady backs. Why not splash 30 million of Roman's money on Benfica's Luiz? Or if Carlo has to add to his forwards maybe he should find someone, anyone really who can play on the right side?

Posted by Marvin Cox on 01/10/2011

Sir Alex must bolster his midfield we need a strong center mid to remain an elite force.

Posted by osimund dyegura on 01/10/2011

Arsenal need a world class defender metesaker or gal cahil would b my first choice though am not sure wenger will break his acount for 25mil for one of them. The chemistry between jorou and koschelny is amazing, we need a physical and tall defender to partiner vermaleen and have two pairs of class defender. Squilaci need to go, denlison and arshavin too they are letting us down.

Posted by Lilton on 01/10/2011

With wenger in search for anew defender,Arsenal might end up messing coz it'll take tym for d defender 2 adapt 2 Arsenal's Game play.

robbie fowler and such as cafu and adriano......
so manU will become stupid idiot team tht can be relegated next sesson..thanks for bloodyfool sir alex ferguson

Posted by IL on 01/10/2011

Man U buy yet more players? Does not make sense because they already play with extra men at each game --the refs and linesmen, especially at home games. So maybe they want some back-up refs as bench warmers?

Posted by Jay on 01/10/2011

Is the Jo rumor the translating of the "Rule of Three" to transfers? If an agent claims that there are five bidders, it is only one actual bidder for every three? Therefore, Jo had one (maybe two if we give the benefit of the doubt) offers from abroad. No wonder he is now willing to compete. In an equally absurb side note, anyone want to wager that it was Galtasaray?

Posted by micky on 01/10/2011

bayern needed to buy a strong n quick centre back

Posted by Eric on 01/10/2011

Chelsea need Sanchez and Cahill and pato

Posted by enyi donald on 01/11/2011

d GUNNER definitely will be better off with a player of per metersacker's qualities. we have suffered too much from set pieces so we need a player who is decent in the air.
