23.59 BST: And that's it for today. Where will Landon land? Can Fulham manage to manage Martin? Join us again for more tomorrow.

23.39 BST: Doubts surround the future of Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.. again. Roy Hodgson said after their friendly game: "Christian Purslow has been talking to Fernando Torres for the last two days so I think there has probably been lots of words from Fernando Torres but I haven't actually spoken to him.''

22.54 BST: Lazio have made an offer for Sao Paolo midfielder Hernanes, according to the player's agent. Around £8 million is believed to be enough to lure the Brazilian away.

"We are still waiting a call off Genoa, probably this week we have an appointment with the leadership of Rossoblu club,'' Mario Miele said. ''Last week we talked with management of Genoa for what concerns the employment of the player. As I understand there isn't the agreement between Genoa and Portsmouth".

21.01 BST: Napoli striker German Denis could be left up in the air after an injured foot could scupper his move to Udinese.

21.01 BST: Real Madrid midfielder Mahamadou Diarra has said he will stay at the Bernabeu and fight for the place under Jose Mourinho. "I will work hard and fight for my spot on this squad," he told the club's website.

20.06 BST: Manchester City look set to continue their summer spending spree as manager Roberto Mancini revealed that he is trying to sign USA international Landon Donovan. More on that later.

19.23 BST: Barcelona have handed 'B' defender Andreu Fontas a one-year extension to his deal, meaning he'll be staying at the Nou Camp until 2012.

19.00 BST: Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen believes he will forge a robust centre-back partnership with new signing Laurent Koscielny. ''I didn't know Koscielny before but I have seen him in training,'' he said. ''He is a good defender, he puts pressure on the attackers all the time and he is tight with his marking.''

18.46 BST: Santos' Neymar will have the final say on his future, according to his agent Wagner Ribeiro. "Today, I'm going to have a meeting with the boy's parents and also with a senior manager at Santos, Pedro Luiz Nunes Conception,'' he told the SporTV television channel. ''But the more important [aspect to] this story is the will of the boy. If he says he wants to leave we will talk with the president [Luis Álvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro] and Pedro Luiz. Hence, we must also talk to the investor to negotiate with Chelsea."

18.15 BST: Heiko Westermann insists he joined Hamburg in the hope that they will play him in his preferred position as a centre-back. "I did not have any perspective for a regular place in the Schalke team in my favourite position,'' he explained to the Revier Sport newspaper. "Therefore, I wanted to change clubs. Things are different at HSV. In Hamburg, they were looking for a central defender. I think that I can show off my strengths well here.''

17.51 BST: Olympiakos expect to sign winger Albert Riera from Liverpool later this week. “Unless there is a major surprise then he will be our player,” Lienen told reporters. “He is a great player who has proven his worth both at club level and for the Spanish national side.” He will cost four million euros intially.

17.42 BST: Massimo Oddo has ended speculation over his future to sign a new contract with Milan, which will run until the summer of 2012.

17.25 BST: And now it is complete. Danny Wilson has signed a three-year deal with Liverpool after passing his medical, the club have confirmed. He said: "This is a massive challenge for me. This is one of the best leagues in the world and I will be playing for one of the biggest teams in the world."

17.11 BST: Sky Sports News are reporting that Danny Wilson has passed a medical at Liverpool as he completes his move from Rangers.

17.06 BST: Tottenham forward Roman Pavlyuchenko is being linked with a move to Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon.

16.47 BST: Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan.

16.30 BST: Shakhtar Donetsk have completed the signing of Eduardo from Arsenal on a four-year contract. The fee is believed to be £6 million.

16.27 BST: Marseille have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Guti, who is on the search for a new club.

16.21 BST: Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed how Miroslav Klose turned down two approaches from unnamed Premier League clubs to fight for his place with the German champions.

16.07 BST: Ajax have called a halt to talks with Bayern Munich regarding the transfer of Netherlands international Gregory van der Wiel. A deadline for the successful conclusion of negotiations passed at noon local time on Wednesday and the Amsterdam club issued a statement that read: "Ajax and Bayern Munich are no longer in talks about Gregory van der Wiel."

15.55 BST: Interest is set to build in Standard Liege midfielder Steven Defour, who is edging closer to full fitness after missing the whole of 2009-10 season. His agent has again talked up interest from Man United and also claims Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal are watching on. Paul Stefani said: “Sir Alex is always interested in Steven ever since he sent him the letter when he was struggling with injury. He is interested but we have to wait for an offer to be validated."

15.41 BST: Crystal Palace have signed free agent goalkeeper Lewis Price.

15.30 BST: Ipswich are being linked with a move for Sunderland's out-of-favour goalkeeper Marton Fulop, who controversially spent the last three games of last season on loan at Manchester City.

15.21 BST: Here's a funny one. Gazzetta dello Sport have decided to run a story which was floating around in the British press at the weekend, namely that both Inter Milan and Real Madrid will fight it out for Patrice Evra. Er, no.

15.14 BST: Bad news for those Arsenal fans hoping that Arsene Wenger will sign a goalkeeper. The agent of one of the players they've been linked with, Udinese's Samir Handanovic, has told Tuttomercatoweb.com: "Handanovic will not be moving. Arsenal have decided not to spend money to buy a goalkeeper."

15.11 BST: Marcus Berg's loan move to PSV Eindhoven has now been completed. He switches across from Hamburg,

15.05 BST: Nottingham Forest striker Joe Garner has moved to Huddersfield Town on loan for the first half of the season.

14.57 BST: More links for Newcastle United now, again coming from France, namely Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini and Marseille forward Hatem Ben Arfa.

14.49 BST: Manchester City's Faroe Islands international goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen has signed a new one-year contract with the club - and promptly moved to League One side Tranmere Rovers on loan.

14.40 BST: It looks as though West Ham missed out on the chance to sign Miralem Sulejmani on loan from Ajax. Boss Martin Jol blocked the move, and it's a decision the player is far from happy about: "I really don't understand why Jol has vetoed the move. It looks like he's trying to ruin my career. I was looking forward to relaunching my career at West Ham. Their manager sees me as a big talent and I'm keen to make a fresh start elsewhere," Sulejmani told AD.

14.24 BST: David James will now definitely be on the move, with Portsmouth withdrawing their offer of a one-year contract. James was stalling on the offer as Pompey remained in administration but they have now taken the contract off the table. He was linked with Celtic earlier today.

14.17 BST: Leo Beenhakker, now in the corridors of power at Feyenoord, says he wants to take Chelsea striker Franco di Santo to the Eredivisie club. And who could blame them after he did so well on loan at Blackburn Rovers.

14.11 BST: Maicon's agent has demanded an apology from Inter Milan for apparently negotiating his client's transfer to Real Madrid without the knowledge of the defender.

14.05 BST: Reports in France are linking Newcastle with a move for Lens' teenage midfielder Nacim Boukhelifa.

13.46 BST: Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has now been told he must sell before he can buy anymore players. So far he has snapped up Stephen Hunt, Steven Mouyokolo, Steven Fletcher and Jelle Van Damme.

13.30 BST: Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios has told Ole he is a target for Napoli and Manchester City.

13.12 BST: Arsenal may be interested in CSKA Moscow striker Keisuke Honda, but Liverpool aren't. Asked if Arsenal and Liverpool were interested, his agent told Sport.co.uk: “Liverpool have not been in contact regarding him.” Make of that what you will.

13.10 BST: Barcelona sporting director Javier Bordas seems to be having trouble recalling Cesc Fabregas from loan. “The thing that is missing is Arsenal wanting to sell the player and at the moment they do not want to sell him," he said in the Daily Mirror. "It seems it isn’t a problem with the price - simply that Arsenal are very unwilling to sell him at all.”

13.05 BST: Spurs are tracking 15-year-old Sporting winger Armindo Bangna Bruma, according to the Daily Mail.

12.55 BST: West Ham co-owner has again said Scott Parker will not be leaving the club despite reports of interest from Aston Villa. “Nothing has changed,” Sullivan said. “Aston Villa will not have enough money to tempt us to sell Scott Parker. He really is not for sale.”

12.50 BST: Heiko Westermann has completed his move to Hamburg. More here.

12.30 BST: Sevilla are apparently willing to pay up to £9m for Mikel Arteta. Clearly there's no way Everton will sell at that price (remember the Lescott saga last summer?) and the player’s representative, Inaki Ibanez, said: “They (Everton) are asking for a lot of money, so it is difficult for Mikel to exit the club.”

12.22 BST: West Ham have agreed the £4.5 million signing of 22-year-old Argentine striker Milton Caraglio from Rosario Central, but the deal is still in the balance as the player has an offer from Italy.

12.00 BST: Maicon's agent, Antonio Caliendo, has been speaking about the Inter defender's future again and claimed City have shown interest. "Inter are talking about deals without his consent," he said. "The player only wants one thing: respect. Manchester City? They're the first team to have expressed an interest in him, but I have to stress that the most likely outcome is that he will stay at Inter."

It's also been claimed that Real Madrid have issued a take-it-or-leave-it €22m bid, but Caliendo said: "Ultimatum from Madrid? We dont know anything about this, but it would be disrepectful."

11.55 BST: Sport claims Alexander Hleb wants to stay at Barcelona despite interest from Manchester City, Aston Villa and Sunderland.

11.52 BST: Skysports.com claims Newcastle have reached an agreement for Dan Gosling, who is a free agent after leaving Everton.

11.50 BST: West Ham have made Nice an acceptable offer for Loic Remy, but our man Harry Harris has learned that Arsenal could yet nip in. More here.

11.42 BST: Gazzetta claims Mario Balotelli's talks with Manchester City have stalled because the Inter striker is playing for time. United and Chelsea are said to be interested, so Balotelli naturally might want to bide his time, although it appears the problem rests with the fact City don't want to pay him €4.5m a season.

11.40 BST: The Spanish press claims Juve's Felipe Melo could head to Real Madrid - as mentioned earlier - in a swap deal with Royston Drenthe.

11.20 BST: Inter Milan have signed Genoa defender Andrea Ranocchia but will be loaning him back and only owning some of him. Find out all about the ins and outs of the deal here.

11.05 BST: Here is the Cole and Degen stuff.

10.50 BST: Good news, Liverpool fans. Joe Cole has completed his medical and has signed a four-year contract at Anfield.

10.35 BST: Freddie Ljungberg could leave Seattle Sounders this summer. More here.

10.33 BST: Roy Hodgson has confirmed Philipp Degen will be allowed to leave Liverpool.

10.30 BST: Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has signed a new long-term contract before heading off on loan to Lorient. The loan deal is believed to part of the agreement that saw Laurent Koscielny join the Gunners.

10.25 BST: Sportske Novosti reports that Eduardo has passed a medical at Shakhtar Donetsk and will complete his move from Arsenal today.

10.03 BST: Reader Kris doesn't think Xavi and co have done a lot wrong.

I don't see it being too big of a deal with what the Barca player's are doing to try and convince Cesc to go. I mean they are all spanish, they share that bond in football (especailly after winning the WC) and they would know it's something Cesc desires so why not help him make the decision by showing him that they want him at Barca as much as he wants to be there himself. Sure I see why Arsenal fans would be upset by this but I just don't see it being as wrong as people make it out to be.

10.01 BST: Stevan Jovetic has told Barcelona he wants to stay at Fiorentina.

09.55 BST: Titus Bramble is apparently on the verge of joining Sunderland. More here.

09.36 BST: Silvio Berlusconi insists Ronaldinho and Thiago Silva will be staying at AC Milan. More here.

09.25 BST: El Mundo Deportivo is also suggesting Barca could still go for Werder Bremen star Mesut Ozil.

09.16 BST: El Mundo Deportivo says Zlatan Ibrahimovic may not stay at Barcelona after all. It acknowledges that he's not too highly thought of in England but says Carlo Ancelotti remains a big fan and a move to Chelsea isn't out of the question.

09.12 BST: Marca says Real Madrid have made a €22 million take-it-or-leave-it offer for Inter defender Maicon.

09.10 BST: Reader Nick certainly isn't too happy about Barca players meddling in the Fabregas affair.

I am a staunch Arsenal fan, ironically Barcelona is the only other club that come a bit close to Arsenal in my heart. But talking about the Fabregas serga,i seriously think the Barca players are only good on the field of play but when it comes to conducting themselves as pple of class they fall short. From, puyol,to iniesta,to casillas and the list is endless and now Xavi.A player is under contract with another club and yet Xavi can come out to say this the player is only on loan, what insolence? That is disrespect in the highest degree.By this show of lack of respect from barca and their so-called classless star players,If i were in charge at arsenal i will make sure i sell the "ALMIGHTY" Fabregas to any club that offers the highest payment, then we'll see how well barca will do against Real Madrid in a bidding war....barca players pls leave player signing issues to those in charge and learn to be humble and respectful

09.05 BST: Atletico Madrid have again said they have no intention of selling Diego Forlan to Juventus. "There is nothing from Juventus," Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said. "No-one has contacted us. There is absolutely nothing. We will not sell him."

09.00 BST: Is David James off to Celtic? Seems like a definite maybe. More here.

08.57 BST: German website 4-4-2.com says Inter, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich want Croatia international Darijo Srna.

08.55 BST: Calcio Mercato reports that Inter will look at signing Dirk Kuyt, Lukas Podolski, Giuseppe Rossi or Diego Forlan if Mario Balotelli leaves.

08.51 BST: Reports in Spain claim Real Madrid could consider a bid for Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo. His efforts against Netherlands, you will remember, helped Brazil to a quarter-final exit at the World Cup.

08.50 BST: Roman Pavlyuchenko has denied reports he'll be heading to Portuguese side Sporting. More here.

08.45 BST: And here's an array of stories from the morning's press.

Daily Mirror: City are in talks to sign Benfica midfielder Ramires for £30 million, Liverpool want £6 million for David Ngog, Roy Hodgson is now going to work on convincing Fernando Torres to stay at Anfield after Steven Gerrard pledged his future, Jose Mourinho is lining up a reunion with Ricardo Carvalho at Real Madrid, West Ham are set to sign defender Francois Clerc from Lyon.

The Sun: Arsenal will tempt Mark Schwarzer with a player-coach role, Tottenham and Newcastle are in the race for Real Madrid legend Raul, West Ham's bid for Tal Ben-Haim has stalled because of a groin injury.

Daily Mail: Manchester City believe they have reached a deal to sign Mario Balotelli for £23 million, Sunderland are set to land Titus Bramble for £5 million, Blackpool are leading the race for former West Brom midfielder Robert Koren.

The Independent: Newcastle want midfielder Mahamadou Diarra but he'll be staying at Real Madrid.

08.16 BST: Right, time for a scout around the morning's newspapers...

08.15 BST: One player certainly not moving to Spain is Ashley Cole, according to Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, who says the defender would still face scrutiny over his private life in La Liga.

08.05 BST: Barcelona have been attempting to strike a more conciliatory tone with Arsenal in recent days, having angered the Gunners with their bullish approach, but what is this we spy this morning? Oh yes, Xavi saying that Fabregas is only "on loan" at Arsenal. We can't see that helping.

08.00 BST: Good morning, transfer fans. So what is in store for us today? We may see Eduardo leave Arsenal and Aleksandr Kolarov join Manchester City, but one thing is certain: Cesc Fabregas will again be making headlines.

Arsenal must release Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona but the fee must more then £30million. Arsenal must bring more englishman to the club. That because englishman more loyalty to their homeground. Foreigner is like Flamini, Hleb, now what happen to them.. now their are regret about their decision.

Someone please tell the commenter, Nick, that Casillas isnt on Barca...his comments are worthless considering his lack of knowledge

Posted by Benj on 07/21/2010

Mate, you have no idea what you are on about. You are a typical gunner who's upset that your best player by a mile wants to leave. He'd rather the Barca bench than your rain soaked stadium with no silverware...

You said:
"From,puyol,to iniesta,to casillas"
Casillas is a Real player, not Barca, proving that you have no idea. Fabregas should man up and put in his request. Xavi, Puyol, Pique et al are just showing Fabregas he is wanted and while he is good, he could be great at Barca.

fab is not fantastic as all arsenal fans make him out, its wenger who make him fantastic. sell him , buy a few youngsters and train them to be the next superstars since arsenal has no silverware ambitions already.

Posted by Dominic on 07/21/2010

I would like to say that Cesc is in a very difficult postion at the moment. He has just won the WC the best football playing team on the planet want to sign him, he is Spanish its his hometown club so to speak its a hard call. I've been a Gunner for 35yrs if his heart isn't in the jersey cut him loose get 40million and watch him do what every other x gooner has done in the past 15yrs chasing that so called bigger club rot on the sidelines.Wenger is a man of principal and we must trust his judgement he will know when the time is right to sell him.Barca players at the moment think they are untouchable they don't have to answer for there actions they have 8 players who have just won the WC and they all think they are the SON OF GOD. GUNNER 4 LIFE

Posted by peter usakah on 07/21/2010

when cesc was at barca, they did not think he was good enough to play, wenger say a star in him and took the risk with him. just when he has blossomed to be great, barca suddenly wants him back.they must be JOKING, so arsenal trained cesc for barca? i say wenger should ensure that cesc sees his contract to its expiration.

Posted by Milad on 07/21/2010

Cesc wants to go home to Barcelona, that much is clear. Barcelona want him in their team, that much is clear as well. The Barcelona players are best friends with Cesc and have just won the World Cup with him. How is it wrong for them to say they want to play with him? Wenger, for his part, fully has the right to hold onto his star, as Cesc's groomed successor, Aaron Ramsey, had the horrific injury. If he can come back into the fold next summer, Cesc will be allowed to move on, I predict

Posted by Karthi on 07/21/2010

Why keep a player who has his heart & mind set on wearing the barca colours??...Arsenal should be bold enough to sell this cash cow and rely on their impressive scouts to bring in a few youngsters. I am sure that's how all of us felt about Fabregas when he began his career with Arsenal and when the likes of Vieira,Petit and Henry departed.

Posted by Jonathan Yeoh on 07/21/2010

Wow! Mr. Hodgson sure has weird tactics! He just sold his second last left-back and he now allows his last to leave. Very clever...

Posted by Da Vizard on 07/21/2010

My opinion is,wht the hell is Xavi doing, all this time Fabregas remain silent, also he already said that his heart is with the Gunners..He only say once that he WILL go back to barcelona sumday..but not saying when..Barcelona acting unprofessional this time,i know that they want Fabregas desperately after losing YAYA..But please show sum respect to the Club that own their player..they paid his salary..not Barcelona..his not ON Loan..Xavi u such a baby..I sont mind if Fabregas want to leave or stay, but please do it properly..

Posted by ebynass on 07/21/2010

Barca leave fabregas alone he is arsenal now and he is not to join the selfish players that want him to change his ambition to become a legend at Arsenal his desire is to win thropies as captain so pique, puyol, xabi and rest leave Fabregas to play where he is king not where as benchwarmer because it's lesson that he learn from world cup only spanish base players are regular so let him have a wonderful time with Gunners.

Posted by Jesse on 07/21/2010

Until Cesc comes out and tells everyone if he wants to leave or not then the mindless speculation will continue. If anyone is doing major harm then it is him. It seems like more and more that he wants to go to Barcelona without looking like the bad guy to Arsenal fans. That is impossible. If his heart is truly set on leaving then he needs to hand in the transfer request.

Posted by Aladdin on 07/21/2010

Throw Xavi out of Barca. He's the most boring player ever.

Posted by mcgregor on 07/21/2010

before this year, ive always thought of fabregas as the posterboy for arsenal, their captain, their leader, and someone who would bleed on his jersey just to keep it red. but right now, after all this transfer saga, i feel otherwise. what i dont understand is why he is looking for a transfer now, he is just reaching his peak, and he should be grateful for arsene for everything he has done for him to get him that far. he should stay for another season (at least). also, ive never been the biggest fan of barca (dunno why), but this season, after what happened in the champs lge, and their statements and actions about fabs, they have really infuriated me. honestly, that stunt that pique and puyol pulled on fabs was just down right disgusting and the look of uneasiness on fabs' face was for all to see. BACK OFF BARCA!

Posted by Gooners on 07/21/2010

If cesc wants to leave, let him. Why keep hold of a player who has his mind and heart somewhere else. It's not like it's the end of the world. There will always be a replacement. I'm not a bit sad if he does leave us like this cause without him we still plays good football and win. So I hope the boss will be brave and sell him but not cheaply. I hope we'll squeeze much of the financial that barca still possess. Let them be indebts even more so.

Posted by kesigan on 07/21/2010

with talents like pedro, busquets, xavi, iniesta, keita.how is he going to fight a place in the first starting line-up
will he get regular action like he did in arsenal.that happened in spain where he played a bit-part role in a team that consists mostly of barca players.end of the day,the answer lies with him sorely

Posted by Nuruddeen M. Lawal on 07/21/2010

I am not pleased with what Manchester City is doing, in respect of this transfer issue, trying to buy every player. I don't think that can make a team to win the Premiership.

All i believe they have enough to play with, and what they should do is to have a team work.

Xavi is such an idiot.I used to have respect for barca but I have lost all of it with their disgusting manner of trying to steal a player who is on contract with another clup. Its a shame

Posted by kasunge ronald araali on 07/21/2010

man barca should stop dreaming of cesc coz he is mearnt for arsenal till the end of his talent.
wenger should try ozil
ARSENAL FANS U'RE BIG ANND EXTRA LARGE

If any of you was offered a job you've been eyeing, with better pay, propects and ALL your good friends are working there, honestly now, tell me if ANY of you wouldn't give it a thought. Personally i quite admire the restraint fab has shown throughout this saga when i'm very sure he's dying to go back to barca.

Posted by Anonymous on 07/30/2010

How come I see mention of the various clubs' interests in Mesut Ozil? I read about it from other sources, but no mention here.

Posted by F.Dirreck Barsee on 07/30/2010

I think Mardrid should call Robben and Sneijder back to the squad because they are useful and Mourinho shouldn't be tempted to sell Van der Vaart or Benzama.
