22.31 BST: The Daily Mail says that Steve McClaren has failed in a fresh bid to take Craig Bellamy to Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.
22.24 BST: Everton could hand a trial to 18-year-old Dutchman Bob Schepers.
22.01 BST: La Parisien is reporting that Marseille have already begun scouting for a replacement for Taye Taiwo, who has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. He is behind Argentine full-back Gabriel Heinze in the pecking order at the Ligue 1 club.
21.22 BST: A comment from a Liverpool fan, named Adha The Kop 1987, who clearly wants a new striker:

21.09 BST: Over in Spain, ElSevilla.com claims that Sevilla want Mikel Arteta from Everton but the asking price, £14 million, is too high. The player’s agent, Inaki Ibanez, said, "They ask a lot of money right now is very complicated Mikel out of there."
21.05 BST: It is being reported that West Brom have had a third bid turned down for Preston goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.
20.59 BST: Meanwhile, free agent Steve Finnan, of Fulham, Liverpool and Portsmouth fame, is being linked with Ipswich.
20.51 BST: Tottenham target Connor Wickham is trying to ignore talk of a big money move to the Premier League by saying he wants to stay with Ipswich Town. Wickham, however, has confirmed he will be staying at Ipswich, He told the East Anglian Daily Times: "I’m looking forward to staying with Ipswich, and nothing has changed."
20.16 BST: Midfielder Matthew Etherington has signed a new four-deal with Stoke. The 28-year-old said: "It's been a fantastic couple of years for me here, so I was more than happy to sign a new contract. It's taken time to sort out, but these things do."
19.28 BST: D.C United’s 17-year-old midfielder Andy Najar is apparently heading to Arsenal at the end of the year for a trial. He will head to the Emirates at the end of the MLS season.
18.55 BST: It's been confirmed. Rangers have accepted a bid of £2 million (rising to £5 million) for Wilson from Liverpool.
18.29 BST: Rangers fans look away now, defender Danny Wilson (one of the club's hottest prospects) is on the verge of a move to Liverpool.
18.22 BST: Wolves are keen on St Etienne midfielder Guirane N'Daw on a season-long loan - but must sell before they bring players in.
18.11 BST: Santos have claimed on their website that 18-year-old winger Neymar is not for sale and that they have rejected a bid from Chelsea.
17.46 BST: Olivier Kapo will leave Wigan this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Roberto Martinez. "I just want to play football at this stage in my career," he said.
17.33 BST: Derby have not received an offer for Rob Hulse from Premier League newcomers Blackpool. Derby boss Nigel Clough said: ''We have had no contact from Blackpool. There seems to have been speculation about Rob since we arrived at the club. In January he was going, then again in the summer. It has been every transfer window.''
17.29 BST: Getafe are looking at bringing in a new striker, with Adrian Colunga or Dani Guiza the two names at the top of the shopping list, according to Marca.
17.11 BST: Athletic Bilbao are looking to tie down Javi Martinez to a new deal after the midfielder impressed for Spain at the World Cup.
16.47 BST: Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios claims he is attracting interest in Europe. "I still have four years on my contract," he said in an interview with Spanish newspaper Ole. "However, they say that Milan, Fiorentina, Manchester City and Napoli would like to buy me."
16.42 BST: Palermo are keeping close tabs on Brazil midfielder Hernanes. Lazio and Milan are also interested, but it will take a €10million offer to prise him away from Sao Paulo.

16.19 BST: Globoesporte claim that Chelsea have bid €20 million for Santos star Neymar having had an earlier bid of €15 million turned down.
16.04 BST: Feel free to ignore this one, but reports are suggesting that Real Madrid want to swap Kaka for Ashley Cole. Nonsense of the highest order.
15.39 BST: AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has spoken out about the situation at the San Siro, and Ronaldinho in particular. "I have a personal agreement with him. He will be at Milan even after he stops playing,'' he said.
The president also stated that he has rejected a bid from Spain for his star centre-back, Thiago Silva. "We have had offers from Real Madrid but we turned them down," he claimed. "We have a squad of players that costs us quite alot, but we want to continue winning.''
15.17 BST: Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is apparently being frustrated in his attempts to sign a central defender after various targets fell off the radar. Surely he can pick up a Honduran international for less than £1 million? He's done it before!
15.06 BST: Schalke boss Felix Magath has confirmed Germany defender Heiko Westermann is set to join Hamburg for around £6.5 million. "The paperwork is still missing the signatures, but I expect this will go through in time,'' he said.
14.53 BST: Chelsea midfielder Deco has spoken of his desire to return to his native Brazil to win the league title and the Copa Libertadores. Although he's not actually left Chelsea yet.
14.45 BST: One of the Premier League's ''major clubs'' has joined the chase for Nice striker Loic Remy. With Spurs and Liverpool already in for him, that only leaves a few, but whoever it is, he is sure to leave. "A major club from the Premier League have contacted me about Loic," agent Frederic Guerra told Sky Sports. ''I have a meeting with the club tomorrow [Wednesday] and we will see what happens. Whatever happens Loic will be leaving Nice this summer and he has his heart set on England."
14.37 BST: According to Bild, Real Madrid are keen to swap Rafael van der Vaart for Bastian Schweinsteiger. Not ones to jump on the bandwagon, Real, but a deal for Sami Khedira as well could see the two Germany World Cup stars reunited.
14.24 BST: USA international Jonathan Bornstein has agreed to sign for Mexican side Tigres UNAL on January 1.
14.22 BST: Inter full-back Maicon could be moving clubs within 24 hours as Real Madrid plan to make Inter one final offer, according to Spanish newspaper AS.
14.10 BST: An intriguing swap deal could be in the offing as Juventus are ready to offer Diego and Christian Poulsen for Hamburg pair Eljero Elia and Dennis Aogo. Don't count on it happening though.
14.02 BST: Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu has been explaining why he is on the brink of signing Arsenal striker Eduardo: "We wanted to buy Eduardo before he moved to Arsenal. Not everything went his way last season, but he is still a player of very high quality, a real marksman. Yes, he had a serious injury, we are aware of the risk, but at the same time we realise he can give a lot to Shakhtar. We expect a lot from Eduardo."
14.00 BST: According to Belgian paper Het Laatste Nieuws, Edgar Davids could be in line for a sensational return to playing with Lierse. The midfielder has been out of the game for two years but, at 37, could be considering a comeback.
13.55 BST: France Football reports that Bayern Munich are taking a keen interest in Paris Saint Germain’s highly-rated defender Mamadou Sakho. However, the player is believed to be holding out for a move to Arsenal, if at all possible.
13.44 BST: The agent of Milos Krasic has told Correirre dello Sport the player has a “large offer” from Fenerbahce but remains committed to Juventus. Manchester City have also been linked with the winger and his chances of moving to Juve will disappear if the Turin club instead sign Edin Dzeko as their non-EU player this summer.
13.34 BST: Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew was named on the shortlist for the Best Young Player award at the World Cup finals, and he seems keen to stay on at Marseille and prove himself in France. Ayew spent last season at Arles Avegnion. “At some point Marseille did not give me a fair chance, but I took that as a motivation and worked hard. Now the club wants me again so we will see,” Ayew told KickOffGhana.com. “I simply want to make sure I have a good season after a good World Cup.”
13.30 BST: According to Tuttosport, Atletico Madrid have entered the race for Sebastian Giovinco. The Juventus midfielder is expected to leave Turin and has also been linked with Bari, Parma and Olympiakos.
13.28 BST: Sam Allardyce will give midfielder Andranik Teymourian a further chance to impress on loan with Blackburn Rovers. The Iranian midfielder played in a 3-0 win at Southport at the weekend and could feature against Preston on Tuesday night. Teymourian is available on a free transfer after leaving Fulham and originally came to English football when Allardyce signed him for Bolton in 2006.
13.22 BST: Alexandr Bukharov joined Zenit from Rubin Kazan on Monday but the striker says he could have been linking up with Steve McClaren. "I had different offers other than Zenit’s one," he told Sport Express. "But Zenit is stronger than Wolfsburg for example that also showed interest in my services. And moreover St Petersburg club had the biggest and objective interest."
13.05 BST: The agent of Fiorentina ‘keeper Sebastien Frey has denied that his client could be joining Aston Villa this summer. "Aston Villa has never spoken with Fiorentina for Frey," Giovanni Branchini told violanews.com. "I think they are the usual rumours of someone who likes to say these things without having evidence.” Frey’s future has been the subject of speculation following Fiorentina’s decision to sign Artur Boruc from Celtic.

"Well, good for Eduardo, moving off to Shakhtar would be a good move for him. Perhaps a new life there will help him to regain back his confidence after breaking that leg. Besides, I can't see him getting ahead of the pecking order now with Chamakh in the team. Sad to see him go though, we was such an explosive player before the injury."
12.48 BST: We have been keeping an eye on this one on the blog and it now appears as though Atletico Madrid are poised to complete the signing of Deportivo left-back Filipe Luis. "We believe there are only a few details left to be sorted out," Depor president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro said on arrival at a Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) meeting in Madrid this morning.

10.52 BST: A report in the Sunderland Echo suggests Steve Bruce is ready to make an offer for Wigan defender Titus Bramble. The former Newcastle defender could be a target as Sunderland’s interest in Sol Campbell is cooling, while target Hekko Westermann appears to be joining Hamburg.
10.44 BST: Whispers in Italy suggest Lazio left-back Aleksandr Kolarov will be officially confirmed as a Manchester City player today. The Serbian is expected to move for a fee in the region of £17 million.
10.31 BST: Real Madrid playmaker Rafael van der Vaart is a target for his compatriot, Louis van Gaal, at Bayern Munich, according to AS. Van der Vaart turned down the chance to join Bayern last summer but could now link up with Arjen Robben and Mark van Bommel at the Bundesliga club.
10.15 BST: AS reports Real Madrid have stepped up efforts to sign Maicon from Inter Milan. It was claimed on Monday that Real have given themselves 48 hours to complete the signing and it is believed that several conversations took place between the two clubs and Maicon’s agent, Antonio Caliendo.

09.56 BST: Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo believes Barcelona are taking a more tactful approach in their efforts to sign Cesc Fabregas, having seen an all-out assault fail to bear fruit. It is believed that Barca will abandon their attempts to sign Fabregas if they cannot sign him prior to their tour of Asia in early August. Sport adds that Barca are not throwing in the towel just yet.
09.43 BST: Portsmouth are not expecting an imminent decision from Portuguese defender Ricardo Rocha on whether he will sign a new contract with the relegated club. “We have made an offer to Ricardo and are just waiting to hear,” administrator Andrew Andronikou told the Portsmouth News. “Initially there was a flurry of phone calls and e-mails. Since then it has gone a bit quiet. It's going to be an August decision for him. He is going to try to do his best to see what is around and then come back to us.”
