23.30: That's all for today, join us again tomorrow for more of the same.

23.25: Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho lamented his lack of options on the bench after his side were
forced to rely on their unrelenting spirit in a 4-3 comeback victory over bottom side Siena on Saturday, so the Special One may yet buy.

22.25: Real Madrid have loaned Hungary striker Adam Szalai to Bundesliga team Mainz until the end of the season, the club said.

21.45: Birmingham boss Alex McLeish expects Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel to become a Blues player in the next 48 hours.

20.23: Bundesliga outfit Bochum have announced that midfielder Shinji Ono is to head back to his native Japan. The 30-year-old has agreed terms with J-League side Shimizu S-Pulse.

19:50: Julio Cruz's agent insists his client has no desire to secure a move away from Lazio during the winter transfer window.

18:49: Turkish side Kayserispor have announced the signing of Middlesbrough's Mohamed Shawky.

18:17: Marseille boss Didier Deschamps is confident an agreement will be reached with Inter Milan winger Mancini in the next few days.

17:03: Following the sale of Andrea Dossena to Napoli, combined with the injury to regular right-back Glen Johnson, Liverpool could be in for Matthew Upson.

15:13: Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones has been heavily linked with a move to Birmingham this week, and Brum forward Cameron Jerome has admitted he would be happy to welcome the Trinidad and Tobago international to St Andrews. He said:

"Would I welcome a signing like Kenwyne Jones? Definitely, I'd welcome that sort of competition,"

14:57: Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has deinied that he is targeting a move for Tottenham captain Robbie Keane, with John Carew heading in the other direction. He said:

"I see us linked with players and some of our players are being linked with other clubs, but at this minute I have nothing to report.

"There is no definite movement in either direction. Maybe like most Premier League managers, I'd probably like to keep it that way. Robbie Keane? There is absolutely nothing in it."

14.06: Wigan forward Olivier Kapo has joined French Ligue 1 side Boulogne on loan until the end of the season.

13.52: Bolton boss Sam Allardyce wants Eidur Gudjohnsen and Koo Ja-cheol, according to Goal.

13.14: City are also planning to keep Roque Santa Cruz. Mancini said: "For me, he is important to the team."

13.11: Roberto Mancini has no interest in selling Micah Richards. "I rate him very highly, he has played for England and has great potential for the future," he said. "It is important that he stays." Richards was linked with Tottenham, although ESPN Soccernet understands there has been no contact between the clubs.

12.50: Seems Mauro Zarate is edging further and further towards the exit door at Lazio. His brother and agent has hit out at Lazio coach Davide Ballardini in Corriere dello Sport after he criticised Zarate. Sergio Zarate says either Ballardini makes a public apology or either Zarate or Ballardini leaves the club. Arsenal have been linked with the Argentinean forward, although that may well not be true.

12.00: Portsmouth want £14 million for defender Younes Kaboul. Read more here.

11.02: It's understood that Celtic have accepted an offer from Middlesbrough for defender Gary Caldwell and midfielder Barry Robson.

11.00: West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola is hoping the club's board will give him the green light to bring in a new striker when he meets them for talks next week. "I will have an update next week about this. I think we are going to have an important meeting next week when we can see what we can do." Marlon Harewood and James Beattie are among those who have been linked.

10.57: Schalke manager Felix Magath has admitted striker Kevin Kuranyi may leave the club if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, but says he has yet to receive an offer. Sunderland have been strongly linked, but Magath told Bild: "Agents are talking a lot, but up to now we have not received an actual offer from any club. Our philosophy remains that any player can leave at the right price, apart
from goalkeepe Manuel Neuer. We are certainly not going to sell four players, but definitely one or two."

10.55: Hertha Berlin have confirmed their interest in Celtic full-back Andreas Hinkel. Hertha coach Friedhelm Funkel said in the Daily Express: "Hinkel would be an excellent addition to our team for the second part of the season, and while I have not spoken personally to him I know from other people that he would not reject a move back to Germany."

10.30: Good morning and welcome to today's transfer blog. Let's kick off with some news from the nationals.

Daily Mirror: Edin Dzeko's name gets bandied around a bit, and now Chelsea are supposedly interested. The striker fired Wolfsburg to the title last season and really wants to join Milan, but a host of Premier League clubs have shown interest and Carlo Ancelotti seemingly reckons he can outbid his former club this month.

The Sun: "Spurs are locked in a £7million race with Lyon to sign Dinamo Zagreb star Dejan Lovren," apparently. He's a Croatia defender and presumably comes recommended by Niko, Luka and Vedran.

Daily Mail: Could Louis Saha leave Everton? The French striker has found a bit of fitness lately as all around him have dropped like flies, and now he's apparently demanding £60,000 a week. He's out of contract at the end of the season and David Moyes doesn't seem to want to play ball.

The Independent: Manchester City are apparently going ahead with their plans to sign 19-year-old Crystal Palace striker Victor Moses, who's rated at about £5 million by his club.

I wish Chelsea signs some good young players such as Mosses,Aguero, Ribery, Villa, Silva as the squad is ageing & injury prone and sell some of the less comitted players such as Florent Malouda

If Chelsea sign Edin Dzeko, whats the point of having Sturridge Drogba and Anelka? Sturridge is capible of being in the Starting XI. If they do sign him maybe sell Anelka or Drogba as they are at the peak of there careers.

I honestly don't know what Chelsea are doing. They need one or two young players to win the league and rest big name players so they can play in champions league. If the ban stays in place they will be stuck for sometime. I think the only reason for claiming they don't want anyone is an attempt to lower sky high prices because everyone knows their situation. That being said they may have to bite the bullet on this one.

Dzeko would be OK, would be great if we could work out some sort of Dzeko and Kalou for Pato deal with AC though.

Bolton boss Sam Allardyce? Isn't he Blackburn's boss?

Posted by Andrew on 01/10/2010

O'Neill, we all know Villa need players. We have the best starting 11 team in the EPL, but that doesn't cut it for 38 games, going through the FA Cup and Carling Cup and what should have been the Europa League. We need more players and you need to learn to rotate. I suggest another striker or two, we have Delfluenso and Weihmann but they should be loaned out to a Championship or lower EPL club first. I'm not talking big money like bandwagon fans of other clubs, I'm talking maybe 5-10m on a striker for cover like McCarthy, fast, relatively old but knows the back of the net like the back of his hand.

I think that arsenal should buy lukas podolski. he is a great striker and he seems like a person that would fit into their way of play. he is a fast player who can make the runs and he is also strong. he is a perfect fit to take over van persie. He isnt doing well in germany because he doesnt have a great team. but arsenal is great and in my opinion he will click right into the system. i think Wenger should really thnk about this.

i think sir alex must sign neur the goalkeeper, silva as ronaldo replacement, david villa, yaya toure as a new scholes, s.kjaer and chiellini.and sell neville, foster, scholes, berbatov, anderson and tosic.utd must keep vidic and nani.sir alex also must retired and replaced mourinho..that's what they needed
