On The Move
Posted by ESPNsoccernet Staff on 01/31/2010

We'll be keeping you as up-to-date as possible on the latest transfer talk in On The Move. You can read up on all the Latest Transfers and then follow the developing stories in our constantly updated transfer blog here:

23.35: That is us done for the night. We leave you with the news that Avram Grant cannot guarantee that no more players will leave Portsmouth on Monday. It promises to be a relatively interesting day so follow it with our special live chat up until the 1700 GMT deadline.

23.27: We have a done deal from Europe where Real Zaragoza have signed former Barcelona and Villarreal midfielder Edmilson. The 33-year-old joins from Palmeiras.

23.26: Still those rumours keep rolling in with the Mail, again, reporting that West Ham are hoping to sign Robbie Keane on loan from Spurs, along with Brazilian striker Ilan, who plays for St Etienne.

23.20: Tony Mowbray has not been shy to put his own stamp on the Celtic squad in January and it could be another busy day tomorrow with Fulham forward Diomansy Kamara, Bayern Munich full-back Edson Braafheid and Real Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis on their way to Glasgow. Scott McDonald could be joining Middlesbrough, according to the Guardian.

23.09: The Daily Mail is also reporting on Monday that having missed out on Roman Pavlyuchenko and Aruna Dindane, Birmingham will look to sign giant Austrian striker Marc Janko from Red Bull Salzburg.

22.43: Sunderland may well be the busiest club on transfer deadline day with a report in tomorrow's Daily Mail claiming they have turned their attention to James Beattie after trying for Benjani and Robbie Keane. Beattie's Stoke are playing Sunderland in the Premier League on Monday.

22.31: Despite those Mears denials from Burnley, it appears Sunderland are after a right back and reports suggest that Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, who won the African Nations Cup with Egypt on Sunday, is on his way to the club for £2 million.

22.16: Now we are hardly perfect here, but it hasn't been a great day for Sky Sports News. Earlier they jumped the gun by prematurely declaring that Victor Moses has joined Wigan, and now Burnley have denied their claims that Tyrone Mears could join Sunderland.

22.04: After a pretty woeful performance from Arsenal, reader Mr Ash wants Arsene Wenger to get his chequebook out. Sorry to disappoint you, but the man himself has said tonight he will not be bringing in any new faces.

"I sincerely hope that Arsene Wenger would really make a last minute purchase in the transfer window to snap up any midfielder to replace the ineffective Denilson.. he is just too much of a burden!!"

20.46: News reaches us that Sandro Wagner has swapped Duisburg for Werder Bremen. That's all well and good, but we want some juicy Premier League gossip, and there isn't a lot around.

20.37: In another rumour that could develop on deadline day tomorrow, Sunderland are reported to be in talks to sign right-back Tyrone Mears from Burnley.

20.25: Here are the full details of Manchester City's renewed attempt to sign Adam Johnson from Middlesbrough.

20.08: Stoke are believed to have made a £3 million offer for Portsmouth 'keeper Asmir Begovic as they look to beat Tottenham to his signature.

19.14: It is being reported that Manchester City have made an improved offer for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson. He would be a good catch for Roberto Mancini, but will any other clubs make an offer?

18:05: Cesc Fabregas couldn't help Arsenal overcome Manchester United at the Emriates today but he is still catching the eye of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Gunners fan Hassan has made his feeling known about a possible departure for Cesc. He says:

Whoa, where did that piece about Cesc setting up an agreement at Nou Camp come from? I know it's for next window, but seriously? He is the heart and soul of Arsenal. Plus, I'm upset Wenger is not going to get anybody...

17.29: Stefano Okaka scored a late winner for Roma today but after the game he confirmed he is packing his bags and heading for Fulham. The striker will join the Cottagers on loan.

16.50: Sunderland are reported to be interested in signing Aston Villa defender Habib Beye before the transfer window closes on Monday evening.

16.18: Birmingham City pulled out of a deal to sign Aruna Dindane on Saturday but it is being rumoured that Blackburn are now ready to make an offer to Lens for the player who has impressed at Portsmouth in patches.

15.19: It seems that former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has joined Italian club Lazio from Stuttgart. That's a bit of a left-field move. Interesting.

15.01: Aberdeen have confirmed receiving a bid from Middlesbrough for striker Lee Miller. The player is out of contract at the end of the season and Boro have reportedly offered £500,000.

14.20: BREAKING NEWS: It is reported that Victor Moses has left Crystal Palace to join Wigan on a three-and-a-half year deal. This could be quite a coup for the Latics if confirmed by the club.

14.16: Antonio Cassano has decided against joining Fiorentina and will stay at Sampdoria. However, the Viola have now flown in Barcelona striker Keirrison for a medical ahead of a loan move.

14.01: Gabriel Obertan's agent is adamant that the player will be staying at Manchester United despite making little impact since joining the club in the summer.

13:01: Sunderland have denied that they are interested in signing Spurs striker Robbie Keane. That could put Kenwyne Jones' reported move to Liverpool in doubt.

12:30: Serie A side Chievo have snapped up Sochaux's Slovenian international left-back Bojan Jokic on loan until the end of the season, according to L'Equipe.

12:27: Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack fancies a move to his boyhood heroes Celtic. But the striker has not been a regular for the Bluebirds this season has only netted three goals.

12:11: One player not going anywhere is Wayne Rooney. That's according to Manchester United chief executive David Gill, who says United do not need to sell their prized-asset.

11:53: We're hearing that Antonio Cassano is set to join Fiorentina from Sampdoria. The enigmatic Italian forward will likely be a direct replacement for Adrian Mutu.

11:49: It's been a quiet January for Manchester United but Wayne (maybe Mr Rooney himself talking in third person?) reckons it's time for Sir Alex to splash out on a striker and defender. He says:

Manchester united needs a striker to pair with rooney..seems like agbonlahor is the best choice..besides that,a good defender is needed too..chiellini is the best choice of all..i hope man utd will sign this 2 players.

11:45: Aberdeen striker Lee Miller is on the brink of a move to Middlesbrough.

10:35: Spanish giants Valencia announced early on Sunday that former Chelsea left-back Asier Del Horno has been loaned out to struggling Valladolid until the end of the season.

10:20: Manchester United winger Gabriel Obertan, according to the player's agent Karim Djaziri. Obertan has failed to impress since moving to Old Trafford from bordeaux last summer, with Turkish daily Vatan suggetsing that Fenerbahce want to take the Frenchman on loan.

10:00: Morning all and welcome to the penultimate day of the January transfer window. The merry-go-round is still spinning and clubs will be working hard to bring in that key player who could be the difference-maker for the remainder of the season.
