On The Move

We'll be keeping you as up-to-date as possible on the latest transfer talk in On The Move. You can catch read up on all the Latest Transfers and then follow the developing stories in our constantly updated transfer blog here:

23.15: Arsene Wenger says Arsenal have not made contact with Marouane Chamakh since the summer and that he fully expects him to remain at Bordeaux until his deal expires at the end of the season.

22.30: Here's the news you've all been waiting for: Falkirk have confirmed striker Pedro Moutinho has signed on until the end of the season.

21.57: We are expecting a lot of speculation surrounding West Ham over the next few weeks and it appears that Valon Behrami is also concerned about seeing a number of his chums depart. The Swiss star has called for clarity over whether there will be a fire-sale at Upton Park.

21.22: More quotes are leaking out of the FA Cup post-match press conferences with Rafa Benitez claiming that Ryan Babel will not be sold in the January transfer window. More on that story here.

20.29: Portsmouth's superbly-named Paris Cowan-Hall is on the move having joined Grimsby Town on a one-month loan deal.

20.11: With the busy FA Cup schedule out of the way, we have a bit of transfer news to catch up on. Sochaux are hopeful of signing Kris Boyd from Rangers, Fiorentina have confirmed the capture of Udinese striker Felipe and Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says a deal for Inter defender Ivan Cordoba is "possible". Interesting.

13.35 Update: It seems that the football is doing the talking today. Well, that and the snow. Some news from Germany though: Nurnberg have signed defender Breno and midfielder Andreas Ottl on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season and are linked with Dutch veteran Roy Makaay.

The FA Cup is the focus of course but it has to be said that the rumour mill is going strong. The papers' biggest story is The Daily Star's punt that Real Madrid want Wayne Rooney for £60 milliion. That's perhaps for another day and may continue to develop.

Real meanwhile seem set to lose Ruud Van Nistelrooy to Liverpool if a raft of publications are to be believed. Liverpool are also linked with Atletico Madrid's Maxi Rodriguez but need to sell Andriy Voronin first. Good luck with that...

Old favourite Marouane Chamakh is either going to Arsenal or not according to who you read but the the Daily Mirror say the Gunners want another striker. Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko and Toulouse's Andre-Pierre Gignac are those mentioned.

Portsmouth's transfer dealing is in question considering their ban and they seem to have hit further trouble because regulations about transfer windows may mean they cannot cash in the much improved Kevin-Prince Boateng, say The Times. The Daily Mail says they will also lose Jamie O'Hara back to Spurs from whence he is on loan.

Benni McCarthy meanwhile, could be headed to Celtic for £2.5 million from Blackburn say the Mail who also pinpoint Victor Moses of Crystal Palace as a saleable asset who no less than eight Premier League clubs are scouting.

ok from what i hear liverpool are dumping voronin to zenit st petersburg and then will make the ruud move within the hour. I have insider info that they are finalizing the ruud move as we speak and are just waiting for zenit to finalize the voronin deal. Liverpool are also going to get maxi rodriguez on a 6 month loan spell which amounts to little more than a tryout for him to see if liverpool want him in the summer.

Arsenal fans will rejoice when they announce the singing of Gignac. I think Arsenal will sign that powerhouse and that will be a huge signing for the gunners.

Prepare for the beast to be introduced to the premier league. A target man the gunners are looking for.

@matthew David villa is already a well established player he doesnt need to go to any club to to make a name for himself n if rumors are to be believed he isnt going anywhere in january

Posted by Jose on 01/02/2010

Villa isnt going any where he doesnt need to play 4 manu or chelsa barca or rm to know he is one of the best footballers in the world anybody who watches football already knows he is one of the best in the world and should of had a player of the year award by now. why would u cheer for a club that buys championships thats weak and the problem with football today. I will take my valencia heart attack squad 10 times out of 10 there a real club not a commercial club amunt valencia

Spurs needs a center back in the worse way. King's chronic knee plus Woodgate's injury woes are to numerous to count. A target Gregory Vander Wiel,Mane left back, Rod Fanni right back left wing Eden Hazard, right wing Lulinha and Pierre Gignac and Walter. Sell Bentley, Dos Santos,The Russian DUD, Alan Hutton. I funds are an issue but we can get some real gems with these young hungry players. I also like midfielders Etienne Capoue, Moussa Sissoko and Hernandes.

I'm an ARSENAL fan and i don't know why Mr.Wenger is not looking to buy quality players. i mean gignac is a good playr but he ain't of the highest calibre. One can find more skillful and experirenced players out thre. i mean there were players in the summer who were looking to move, n there r players now who r looking to move.In my opinion i'd look forward to signing someone like ADRIANO or PODOLSKI or GILARDINO. thats just my opinion. Someone please comment on my opinion and write what u think about it.

Spurs will sell Pav to Roma for 10$ mil, Bently to City for cash and possibly get muntari from inter i would like to see them make a move for a CB like Marquez from Barca since he lost his first team spot to Pique

Posted by David on 01/02/2010

Hetarth, adriano, podolski, and gilardino are all old and past their prime and i doubt any of them but podolski would want to make a move to england personally i think gooners are already loaded with quality strikers i.e. eduardo, bendtner, c. vela, arshavin and theo walcott.. maybe van nistelrooy could be a good fit

Posted by Luke G on 01/02/2010

Arsenal need to sign gervinho or mario balotelli, L'pool need to sign kenwyne jones because ruud is too old. if chelsea doesnt sign kun aguero then they will crumble and either man utd or arsenal will take the cake.

Liverpool clearly need some fresh players on the squad. While watching Liverpool games, there is a sense that the squad needs new players to shake things up a bit. They are in a rut, and although Aquilani surely has potential to be a big player (if Rafa would continue to play him and give him EPL experience), once the Reds capture an old but talented Ruud van Nistelrooy, as well as the Argentinian midfielder Maxi Rodriguez, there would still be hope for a top 4 finish in the Premier League. The Reds are down, but they are not out. New signings is a must. Voronin out, new players in.

as an arsenal fan i truely believe ginac would be a good sign for us remember it is the system that wins not the individual, in buying players we havr to find someone who can play within a system, we need a stryker who is not shy in front of goal and someone with some height would give us another attacking option, lets not forget
we still have concerns with the overall size of our squad in terms of height.
but i think when we get back benthner we will be back with that other option except he still is lacking that potency in front of goal.

Fergie needs to sign a star midfielder. we don't really need Dzeko or Villa. We need someone like Ribery to fill in the void that Ronaldo has left.

Posted by Perry browndad on 01/03/2010

As a chelsea fan pls...Roman try as much as u can to get Ribery and villa in there if u cant lay ur hands on Kun and im suggesting that u should send that man called deco out cuz to me he dosent worth it to be in the squad.
