On The Move

Another day, another raft of "Silly Season" links and rumours, gossip and paper talk. So, let's get into it.

Ricardo Carvalho's time at Chelsea is effectively over. We learnt on Monday that Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with the centre-back at Inter Milan and the now 31-year-old Portuguese has revealed that he is more than ready to leave Stamford Bridge.

Ensuring that Chelsea will not want to retain his services, Carvalho accused the club of neglecting him when he was injured last season. It all seems very sad that a five-year spell that has been so successful will end on a sour note.

Elsewhere, the agent of Brazilian football's most exciting young prospects says that Manchester United have made contact.

Gremio's Douglas Costa is on the radar of quite a few clubs - if you belive his Mr 10% - and although the 18-year-old has another four years to run on his contract a buyout clause of £17.8m seems to have tempted United who are soon to be flush after agreeing that £80m deal for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Glen Johnson's future could become clearer in the next few days if reports in The Times are proven correct. The paper claim Portsmouth have accepted an offer of £18.5m for the left-back, not from Chelsea but from Liverpool. Will the Blues respond with a counter offer?

David Bentley's tortuous spell as a Tottenham player could be at an end soon. He has admitted to The Sun that he is talking to Aston Villa.

And finally the confusion over Carlos Tevez future continues as the UK papers try to second guess his next move.

The Daily Mail carry a story in which it is claimed Carlo Ancelotti has told Tevez he should join Chelsea if he wants to play at the highest level. While the Daily Mirror reckon the Argentine has narrowed down his choices to either Manchester United or Manchester City and will make his agonising choice in the next 48 hours.
